February 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Gulf of Aden. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.

Request reason:

Hi!

As you might know, I have been blocked for allegedly being an untrustworthy editor, a probable sock, and someone who clearly is not here to create an encyclopedia, ifI have understood things correctly.

Now, I know that perhaps my methods and actions might have been rather disruptive, and frankly perhaps uncalled for, however, I have only been trying my best to reflect the situation on the ground.

So far, I have been disrupted by two people in my mission to do this, one Cabdijimaale who eventually was banned for being a confirmed sockpuppet, and Aqooni with whom I reconciled with and reached a consensus. Therefore, I do not see such blocking of my account as necessary anymore since the causes for it have been resolved and those maybe behind the report leading to this have reconciled with me and reached a consensus together with me.

As for the reason I have kept editing so many articles and unintentionally started a couple edit wars; I think it is fair that all of the cities and towns of Somaliland should be coming under Somaliland and not Somalia. To quote Kzl55, who explained this perfectly:

"The government of Somaliland has a longer history, controls more land, and is more democratic than the one in Somalia. I think a similar treatment to cities and provinces of Taiwan for example Hualien County would be more appropriate. Somalia (as seen in the Berbera DP World and military base examples above) has no jurisdiction over Somaliland. There is also the demographic reality that the majority of the more-than-three-million Somalilanders were born after the country declared its resumed independence and have never thought of themselves as citizens of unitary Somalia. The blue flag of Somalia is as alien to them as that of any neighbouring country."

I would like to urge you to unblock me so I can continue contributing to Wikipedia as that is what I'd like to do. It's a passion of mine you could say. I have been interested in editing for quite a while and I can assure you that it will be worthwhile and I shall not repeat the same mistakes as before, although I really am itching for a consensus when it comes to Somaliland's towns and districts and what flag it should come under haha.

Again, just to summarize and reiterate: I would like you to unblock me as I think it's a huge misunderstanding and while my methods and approaches might have not been the best, I had reached a consensus with the only person on the opposite side (Aqooni) and this it felt like a green light for me to just flip every town to Somaliland. I shall make sure to be more careful next time and adhere to the rules of this great website that I'm looking forward to contributing in. Zaki199105 (talk) 21:17, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Now a CU block due to active sockpuppetry. ST47 (talk) 18:20, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@Graham87: Zaki199105 (talk) 00:13, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your unblock request doesn't inspire any confidence in me, but I'll leave it to another admin. However I'd just like to point out that while Taiwan has a rather complex history of being recognised by various parts of the worlld, Somaliland is currently recognised as a country by absolutely nobody. This will be my last message on this talk page, unless an admin would like me to elaborate further. Graham87 01:43, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ANI notice[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Somalia/ Somaliland political dispute.

I realise that you are already blocked, but if there is anything constructive that you can add to the ANI discussion, I assume that the admins might look here. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:35, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My opinion still stands. Ares under the complete and full administration and control of Somaliland shouldn't be edit warred over. Zaki199105 (talk) 15:45, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
