Image copyright problem with Image:Shotcode_df8475d8b218.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shotcode_df8475d8b218.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

re: PHinn[edit]

Hi, you marked PHinn article with stub-tag so it would be nice to know what you think that should be fixed. References are simple one, but what else? aka "If you rated the article, please give a short summary at comments to explain the ratings and/or to identify the strengths and weaknesses.)" --Zache 15:50, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's just pretty short. Any information you could add about him would be great. And the one section is about the website, not the person himself. It should be reworded or removed. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 16:49, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the good girl[edit]

If there are no reliable, third party sources on a topic, we shouldn't have an article on that topic, because we can only be as reliable as our sources. It still just looks like a pile of hype, from their own site, press releases and digg, which is an unreliable user-submitted news site and doesn't do any research or editorial control of its own. the article's looking awful shaky right now, like a promotional puff piece. Fair use rationale for Image:TheGoodGirlCover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TheGoodGirlCover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 09:24, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CC-NC-ND is Wikipedia-Unfriendly. For upload purposes it should be treated in my opinion no differently from an ordinary copyright.ShakespeareFan00 09:39, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:TheGoodGirlCover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:TheGoodGirlCover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:50, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oink[edit]

A couple of things re: your recent edits to the Oink's Pink Palace article.

  • First, thanks for adding the link to the Wired article. It seems pretty accurate and it's great to have more reputable sources in the article.
  • Could you clarify what you mean by the sentence: "Compared to other bittorrent trackers at the time it's userbase was balanced to music fans and music professionals" in the Oink's Pink Palace article? I'm not sure what it means.
  • I took the advice on your userpage and did a bunch of copy-editing to your recent edits.
  • Could you be a little more cautious with your edits? Both of your main changes have added good info, but much of the info was already in the article in different places, and it was already copyedited.

MrVibrating 13:26, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, thanks for fixing my english. And then answers:
  • Could you clarify what you mean by the sentence...: I tried to say that the general profile of users of OiNK weren't really same as warez people generally. Different type of people used Oink than is using sites like The Pirate Bay or Mininova etc. In example if Pirate Bay dies nobody from music indystry will come and cry after it, but for Oink there is multiple music professionals writing that it is loss that it died.
  • Could you be a little more cautious with your edits?... I noticed that there were changes after me and my edit was on purpose. Also, i thinked that somebody would undone my edit if it sucked, but generally i think it's better for future edits that there is different sections for what the site was and for the news debate. So that was my reason for the rephasing the content.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:OiNK.me.uk-1.1.2006.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:OiNK.me.uk-1.1.2006.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:44, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary[edit]

What do you mean here by "blatant deleting edit"? I wasn't trying to hide anything, so of course it was "blatant". And it was "deleting' since I removed a bunch of marketing-style language. This is an encyclopedia that requires verifiable facts, not a promotional brochure full of rhetoric. Please assume good faith. Thanks. --ZimZalaBim talk 21:39, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About that you didn't try to fix marketing style language, but just deleted it. I can agree with you with the style of the language, but not with that you just deleted all info about what kind of content site has. Only words you left to do that was "pornographic or erotic" which is for porn site pretty much same as you described Seinfield with word Sitcom and removed everything else, because there isn't direct ref in the article (although there were ref to ASS review, but it isn't really my point)--Zache 22:05, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Abbywinters.com 'Description of content'[edit]

Hello. Firstly, thanks for defending the article. In the Description of content section, I was going to rephrase the second pargraph to improve its grammar. What did you mean exactly by "images of details"? Bitwiseb (talk) 06:53, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tried kind of to sum next: The site is known to have lot of single thing photos, like photos of breasts, faces, legs, cunts etc etc... and which are collected to something what She's so fine describes: the material itself is of very high technical quality, the indexing and cross-referencing of the articles is of near-obsessive minuteness. --Zache (talk) 09:31, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oink: Music Professionals[edit]

The source only describes one music professional, Trent Reznor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.34.34.61 (talk) 18:32, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but its kind of common knowledge that Oink was balanced to music people. Anyway, from the article there is link to Jace Claytons and Rob sheridans writing about Oink. Outside from article there were discussion around Idolator (after one idolator writer were kicked out from Oink) about music journalists beeing users of Oink. Also some of prereleased music weren't scene releases and were from music indystry workers. I too drunk (happy new year btw) to ref those later ones because its more or less own research, but Jace Claytons, Rob Sherdidan is clear thing. --Zache (talk) 18:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:The_OiNK_Top_10.jpg[edit]

heh, I just noticed this in a bout of random clicking on wikipedia... You know, buy uploading this screenshot, you could be percieved as a user or a friend of a user on OiNK and therefore admitting to committing the crimes of pirating music. But, as an ex-member myself, who cares? Just thought I would point that out and get back to my random clicking. DemosDemon 22:48, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

February 2008[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Oink's Pink Palace. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Seicer (talk) (contribs) 19:40, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So, can you tell me how those two links were Spam by your own words not by some template? Do you actually think that they were survived when site was on the news if they were spam. Ok, the youtube link were pretty funny, but if you watch it is genuine oink song at the time when site did go down. --Zache (talk) 19:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. My analysis was posted at WP:ANI#User:Phantomia on Oink's Pink Palace and it was listed for blacklist inclusion.
Per WP:EL#Links normally to be avoided, the web-site --
# Does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a Featured article;
# Is mainly intended to promote a website;
# Is a link that requires payment or registration to view the relevant content;
# Is a link that is inaccessible to a substantial number of users, such as sites that only work with a specific browser;
# Is a link to blogs and personal web pages, except those written by a recognized authority. Note that the official web-site contridicts those that were listed as spam.
Furthermore, Youtube videos are not reliable sources. See WP:RS#Are IRC, MySpace, and YouTube reliable sources?. Seicer (talk) (contribs) 20:02, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, oink.pytalhost.com is clear so no more about that. About the other two links what you removed.
  1. Teh Paines blog. I was editing the article after the raid happened and the site was closed and Paines blog were added to the article because it was commonly agreed that it was credible (there were couple other credible blogs also). AFAIK. the Paine was one of the inner core admins of the oink. Second and more important reason was that teh Paine's blog didn't push any agenda, but it merely killed hoaxes and rumors. I think that this second reason is why it should be in the article.
  2. the Youtube video: It doesn't matter if Oink song is reliable source or not. It is not used as source. It is commentary about the closing the Oink. I don't really care if this is in the article or not. It just is something which is nice.
  3. WP:IGNORE, You know, the rules are here to make Wikipedia better. Not as the holy bible, which we should blindly follow --Zache (talk) 20:25, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edward Nilges[edit]

Edward is a blocked user, and has engaged in persistent trolling at various other articles, as well as issuing legal threats against me and others. At Talk:Ayn Rand and other places he shows up we've simply been reverting his comments because of their consistently abusive tone and because he falsely accuses me of racism in the post. Users well-acquainted with Edward's antics include User:Skomorokh, User:Kjaer, User:Atlan (the admin who blocked him), User:Idag, User:J Readings, User:Ethan a Dawe, and others. As such, and because he is a blocked user, I've removed his talk page comment again. If you still disagree, we can ask a third party for arbitration, as I do have a problem with a false accusation of racism against me remaining on the Talk Page. Presidentti Mannerheimin ero[edit]

Tasavallan presidentti Gustaf Mannerheim jätti eroilmoituksen 4.3.1946 (Hallituksen esitys eduskunnalle laiksi tasavallan presidentin vaalista vuonna 1946), laki uuden presidentin valitsemisesta annettiin 8.3.1946 (Laki tasavallan presidentin vaalista vuonna 1946), eduskunta valitsi J. K. Paasikiven presidentiksi lauantaina 9.3.1946 (Eduskunnan kirjelmä tasavallan presidentin vaalista vuonna 1946) ja Paasikivi saattoi antaa juhlallisen vakuutuksen eduskunnassa 'vasta' maanantaina (ks. Suomen Hallitusmuoto 23 §, 5. momentti) 11.3.1946, jolloin hänen toimikautensa tasavallan presidenttinä alkoi ja Mannerheimin toimikausi virallisesti päättyi.
Periaatteessa samoinhan toimittiin Urho Kekkosen kauden vaihtuessa Mauno Koiviston kauteen, jolloin tasavallan presidentti Kekkonen jätti eroilmoituksen 26.10.1981, valitsijamiesten enemmistö äänesti Koiviston tasavallan presidentiksi 26.1.1982 ja Koivisto astui toimeen 27.1.1982, jolloin Kekkosen kausi tasavallan presidenttinä virallisesti päättyi.

From Finnish magazines: Saatuaan levytyssopimuksen Capitol Recordsille, hän joutui tosissaan miettimään, millä nimellä alkaa tehdä musiikkia. Both Smo and Smokahontas were already in use so she selected her own name with one extra a-letter. (source Me Naiset, 10.4.2015, Sara Forsberg kommentoi uutta artistinimeään tuoreella videollaan ). Both names Sara and Saara are common in Finland. Based on stats there is in Finland persons with name Sara 14626 and Saara 19744. Sara is used in both Finnish and Swedish areas though it is more common in Swedish speaking areas of Finland. Saara however is Finnish name because it is written by double vocals which is typical for Finnish language and untypical for Swedish. Sara Forsberg is from bilingual family and from bilingual area (Pohjanmaa).Zache (talk) 07:08, 10 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just as a spectator: Even if Saara is her real birth name, guidelines say (IIRC) that articles should primarily use the person's best known name. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:The OiNK Top 10.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:The OiNK Top 10.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Kartographer WLM pin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello[edit]

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that you are banned from posting comments on my talk page, unless, of course, you are required to by Wikipedia policy. If you are required to post a notice on my talk page, please clearly indicate in the edit summary what policy you are doing so under. Any other posted comments will be deleted without being read.

Please note that this ban also applies to pinging me.

Also, if you email me to get around this ban, I will assume that you are agreeing in advance that the entire contents of the e-mail can be released to anyone I wish to.

Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 11:02, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just for the record this is related to this discussion. Also However, editors should not make such requests lightly, especially concerning their talk pages, as doing so can impede the ordinary communication which is important for the improvement and smooth running of the project. Also, a user cannot avoid administrator attention or notices and communications that policies or guidelines require to be posted merely by demanding their talk page not be posted to (WP:NOBAN) --Zache (talk) 14:33, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Relation with Jjanhone[edit]

Hi - Can you please explain whether you were asked to edit any articles here by Jjanhone? I find it odd that you haven't edited very much here until this year, when your main interest has been in removing {{paid contributions}} from various articles written by them. From your userpage, it would seem like a possibility that you've met them in real life. In case you did not know, they were blocked a couple of weeks ago after being found to use meatpuppets to remove the templates. @Joe Roe and GeneralNotability: as an FYI. SmartSE (talk) 13:52, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have been following the development of the case. Anyway, I know Jjanhonen via finnish Wikipedia activity, she has also been WMFI:Hallitus/Vanhat hallitukset and she is one of the persons who are doing Wikipedia events regularly in Finland. So it is not black-and-white. In this particular case, she asked for advice on how to proceed in Wikipedia context both publicly in Wikipedia ystävät FB group, but we also talked privately. My advice basically was that it would be a good idea to edit already created content in the shape that the community would accept it instead of writing new content. About sockpuppets, I noticed when it was in SPI, but I don't know what happened. I think that the closing analysis was correct from the Wikipedias point of view. In Jjanhonen's point of view, I think that she thinks that it was an error by her but she doesn't know how to fix the situation. In the context of how I have selected the articles which I have edited. In some articles, I have also discussed how they should be edited (in example Orthex, [2], [3]) However I have also been just followed the edits via Special:RecentChangesLinked and picked recently edited articles to edit from there. Generally, I don't think that problem tags should not be in the articles as forever and the method to get rid of them is to edit articles better. --Zache (talk) 14:47, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 13[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of open-source mobile phones, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Android. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:13, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your e-mail[edit]

Thanks very much for your e-mail. You were exactly right about what was going through my head when I asked the user about the Israeli article. I hadn't realized it when I blocked, but did more probing afterward. The list at Meta is fascinating. Although all of the users are registered at en.wiki, very few have any edits. I may reopen the SPI here, although, from a technical perspective, it looks very messy. I'm still waiting to see if the user here responds to my two questions, and I might as well wait to see what the stewards do as well.

My apologies for posting here rather than at fi.wiki, but you have the honor of having one of the most difficult languages in the world, or at least the western world, and even posting at your Talk page in English would have been tough. Hopefully, you check this page occasionally or are notified in some way.

Thanks again.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:07, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your reply. Replying in enwiki was totally fine. --Zache (talk) 03:21, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
