UK Yankees Caps[edit]

Hi I notice you tagged my contrib to the Yankees page that went like this: "In the United Kingdom, Yankees caps are extremely popular, even though the population has little to no interest in baseball as a sport. [citation needed]" with a citation needed. Was unsure what you want me to cite- the fact that Yankees caps are very popular in the UK, or the fact that the general UK population has little to no interest in baseball? Thanks. Magic Pickle 13:29, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The first statement. Has this POV been written about? The best I can find is a Stanford article about Yankee fans in Dublin, [1] and this,[2] about which I'm unsure of the source. You must have read this somewhere if you're singling out the UK - otherwise it's just your opinion. Yankee caps are popular worldwide because American rappers and celebrities wear them. I like your addition and don't doubt that it's true (I've read message boards and blogs that talk about goofy Yankee cap-wearing Brits with no clue about what team's hat they're wearing), but it looks a bit like original research. If the article is to be featured we need to ensure it's well-sourced. Yankees76 14:46, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stan Mikita[edit]

Mind giving a link to where on NHL.com Mikita's described as a Slovakian? I just went through the search function on the site and see nothing of the sort. Mikita was born in Slovakia, but emigrated to Canada when he was eight, is a Canadian citizen, and played internationally for Canada. He strikes me as Slovakian the same way that Ken Hodge and Steve Thomas were English players, Willi Plett Paraguayan and Rod Langway was Taiwanese. RGTraynor 21:04, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not the NHL.com reference, but here's a better refernce - the Hockey Hall of Fame's leading scorers by country.
http://www.hhof.com/html/r&r-C.shtml
Mikita is also a member of the Slovak hockey hall of fame, along with Stastny and Vaclav Nedomansky.
Urrr ... that's the same page that claims that Paul MacLean's a Frenchman, Walt Tkaczuk is a German, Owen Nolan is an Irishman, Craig Adams is a Malaysian, Rick Chartraw is a Venezuelan, and so on and so forth -- Plett and Langway etc included? A credible source of a player's national identity that isn't. RGTraynor 21:45, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
NPOV. Nolan was born in Belfast Ireland. They're listing the players by place of birth.
Another reference. :::::www.nhl.com/scores/recaps/59_2_recap.html (bottom of page - Jagr's goal was the 541st of his career, tying him for second place with Stan Mikita on the all-time list for goals scored in the NHL by a European. Jari Kurri is the leader with 601.
Lastly, Stan Mikita holds the state honour of White double-cross, second class in Slovakia.
He lives in the United States and owns a business there. He's about as Canadian as Lennox Lewis.

Yankees76[edit]

Yankees76, your New York Yankees logo is under contract and cannot be used, sorry, i did it with the Marlins, Florida Gators, and a Jessica Simpson pic in a bikini. I wish it could stay, i had it too but, it has to be removed. Sorry.--: ) Slipknot222 23:09, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome. Hey I also reckon it's worth us creating a separate MM2K article as there's more than enough to write. At the moment MM2K, Muscle Media and Muscle Media 2000 are all redirecting to BP but ideally I think a stand alone is worth doing... thoughts? §τοĿĿ€ŖγŤč 00:37, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Substing[edit]

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. --Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 22:09, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amykocot spam[edit]

Thanks for keeping an eye out for that. There's probably not too much harm letting the user work a little on the spam articles (Geary/Speak) they created; if they actually get improved enough and establish notability they may even be worth keeping. Any new spam articles, spam links, spam categories will be more indication of bad faith though. TheGrappler 22:21, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What?[edit]

What test??? I didn't do any vandalism or such. Please explain. Minfo 18:11, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I see what you did. First off, you didn't need to leave a post on my talk page to tell me that you reverted something I did (that message is reserved for mostly vandalism) and second you misunderstood the NHL families page. I don't think they needed to play in the NHL, but simply have been in an NHL organization's system. The page doesn't have any set rules so I'm not going to get into an stupid editing war over it. Minfo 18:11, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, you reverted/added something that has already been reverted by more than one editor - a number of times. That's why you got the 'warning'. Secondly, to be included in the article, the player has had to have played, coached, refereed etc. in the NHL. Merely being drafted does not qualify for inclusion. Check the articles talk page where this issue has already been discussed. Yankees76 18:36, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Then take off Mikko Ruutu. Minfo 04:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Yankees76 12:53, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New York Yankees[edit]

I am only 14 and don't know a whole lot about the Yankees, except for I hate how they always get good people, because there owners are will to spend top $$ to win for the fans. I am a huge Tigerse fan and would be upset if someone put something unreasonable on the Tigers. I don't remember putting anything on the Yankee page except adding that they made the trade with the Phillies.Tigersfan1992 11:43, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the edits in question - you added your own personal commentary on how This trade will likely put the Yank's over the hump. Abreu will be everyday right fielder and likely bat fifth. It moves long time Yank Bernie Williams and Aaron Guiel to the bench. Lidle is likely to go to the rotation beating out Sidney Ponson. Speculation and opinion should be avoided here. Even in this instance, your speculation turned out to be wrong, as Bernie played last night even with Abreu in the lineup. Stick with verifiable facts. Attribute the opinion to a subject-matter expert, rather than merely state it or speculate it. Thanks. Yankees76 18:56, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know what you are saying now, ok. I got it from a website, and it said when Sheffield and Matsui come back. Tigersfan1992 15:40, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vitacube systems[edit]

Hey bud. Are you certain Phillips was involved in V3S? I had a friend who worked there (previously at EAS funnily) and although a shitload of EAS execs left to go work there I have never heard Bill was involved nor can I find any reference to this on the web. As V3s (now XELR8 or something) is a publicly traded company all their SEC filings are available so you'd think they'd be some reference to it. Also V3S hasn't ceased trading either to my knowledge. Look forward to your reply - Glen 08:25, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS Sorry about the deletion with the welcome message - not sure how that happened!
If I'm not mistaken, some of the early ads featured Phillips. Yankees76 14:17, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... are you sure? That would be very interesting if the case (especially as Bill secretly financed Shawn's Lean System 7 at the same time) Can you recall where I may find the ads? - Glen 20:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
2001-2003 bodybuilding magazines most likely. There is some mention of BP owning V3S on T-Nation as well, with a quote of him losing 6 million on it. They don't mention V3S by name however. Yankees76 21:01, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, found the reference in t-nation here - the guy claiming this also claims Bill's married (he's not I'm still good mates with Shawn). Im having trouble finding anything on the net either, there's this: http:// forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=31185 - which is actually accurate to my level of understanding, it was begun by a group of disgruntled EAS execs (as I said above). The thing that confuses me is that Bill's non-compete hadn't expired in 2001, not till 2004 (when he sold his remaining 30% stock holding). It was then he launched Eat Right! or whatever its called. I will hunt through the mags, but if there are ads in magazines why are t-nation being so hush hush? Odd... keen to know your thoughts - Glen 21:28, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball Hall of Shame[edit]

Denise Masino[edit]

Since you're a member of the bodybuilding project, I thought you might want to have a look at the Denise Masino page. There's a bit of an edit war brewing - someone wants to put what I feel is inappropriate / explicit (and unsourced) content about her pornographic video career. I'm not disputing that she does porn videos - but I think the recent additions are not the type of material that should be included. Anyway, would appreciate your two cents. fbb_fan 15:26, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Germany and Switzerland not dominators[edit]

Germany and Switzerland may have elite hockey leagues, but they do not dominate at the international level, especially in the context of the Olympics. The two countries, Yankees76, share 4 olympic medals; all of which are bronze. By claiming that they dominate hockey at the international level, you are not doing justice to the other countries; all of which have at least 8 olympic medals with the exception being Finland (5 medals, which is still more than Germany and Switzerland combined).

That being said, I took the liberty of reverting the paragraph back to how it was. Unless you can show that these two countries dominate at the international level with sources (perhaps in the World Cup of Hockey or the juniors), or unless the wikipedia community feels otherwise, please do not present Germany and Switzerland as dominators. — Dorvaq (talk) 22:37, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree - see the talk page. The context of their addition was based on prominance - not dominance. Slovakia and Finland don't 'dominate' at the international level either simply based on Olympic medal counts - and if you include Canada Cups and World Cups, even less so. Slovakia who has never won a medal since becoming it's own country and only has a handful of medals in World Championship play (which often does not include the World's best players due to the NHL playoffs - hurting smaller countries like the Swiss and Germans who have a few but prominant players in the NHL). I've reverted with some changes. It's not like the Swiss and Germans are at the levels of Austria and the other second tier countries - we've seen Switzerland shut out Canada and defeat the Czechs at the Olympics. Let me know what you think. Yankees76 03:19, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And, I further disagree with you. See discussion here: Ice hockey. — Dorvaq (talk) 17:11, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is an official warning of vandalism to the Designer Whey Protein article including to talk page. There is a POV dispute. Removing POV Dipute headings is considered vandalism! This is your first warning. Also, erasing this warning is also considered vandalism. 63.17.106.109 19:42, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What POV are you talking about? David D. (Talk) 19:43, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
An 'official' warning? I've given out hundreds of 'official' warnings, and trust me, that isn't one. (nor do I beleive they contain spelling mistake either). I did enjoy it if it was a joke though - very funny. Otherwise, please stop posting nonsense on my talk page. Thanks. Yankees76 19:47, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You also did blanking on the talk page of the article. You attempted to HIDE the POV Dispute. This is considered vandalism.

Message for the administrator. A boiler plate warning may be in order. 63.17.106.109 20:27, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can't be serious. I'm being accused of vandalism by a sockpuppet. Okay for starters, no 3RR rule was violated on my part. My edits weren't reverts, I've been replacing your incorrect use of a NPOV tag - which isn't even warranted on this page. By the way you've already reverted the same article 6 times. Pot calling the kettle black. Secondly, stop vandalizing my user page with non-legitimate warnings. I know what real warnings look like. You're posting nonsense in a futile attempt to bully me. It's not going to work. Stop compromising the integrity of pages on Wikipedia. Yankees76 20:49, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also mutliple users have been reverting edits by 63.17.106.109. Does 63.17.106.109 have some axe to grind here? These edits are bordering on harrassment. David D. (Talk) 20:58, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check the history pages for the proof of illegal (more than 3 reverts) reverts in under 24 hours. 63.17.106.109 21:01, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I consider it a personal attack in calling me a sockpuppet. I have remained civil throughout. 63.17.106.109 21:03, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A sockpuppet is one editor who edits under mulitple IP addresses. You've already admitted you are. Hardly a personal attack. I'm not sure if you get off doing all of this, but serious your lame attempts to bully me with pseudo Wikipedia rule quoting is ineffective and growing tiresome. The 3RR rule does not cover cases of simple vandalism, which is what you're doing sticking [citation needed] all over the place. Please familiarsize yourself with the guidelines and policies of Wikipedia before you continue in this fashion. Yankees76 21:08, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Attack Warning.[edit]

Please stop engaging in personal attacks. I am not a sockpuppet. When I log into the internet my IP is always 6317 and then some numbers change at the end. You already know this is not my falt or even a concern to me. I really think you are just trying to deflect attention away from you breaking the 3 revert rule. Please try to be civil from now on. 63.17.61.40 22:18, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain this edit.[3]. Yankees76 23:12, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Register and create a username then - editing articles with different IP addressses - esepcially when making accusations against other editors is not good practice. And again what you're posting here is not a legitimate warning - it's harassment - stop adding these pseudo-warnings to my talk page. And you broke the 3RR rule, not me. Reverting simple vandalism does not fall under the 3RR rule. Yankees76 22:22, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3RR, etc. on Soybean article[edit]

Hello, Yankees76. I notice that you and another user are involved in a dispute on the Soybean article. I was reviewing new users' edits and apparently stumbled into the midst of a pretty involved edit dispute. The only significant difference that I could find between the two of your versions was a sentence and several references for the claim that one kind of protein is better than another for building muscle mass. I was wondering if you could explain the specifics of the editing conflict so I can be of help. Please let me know here or on my talk page. I have contacted an helpful administrator that I have met in the past regarding your case and provided him/her with information they will need to look into the case, if they want to look into it. Thank you for your patience; I know that it can be difficult and stressful dealing with editing conflicts. --Kuzaar-T-C- 16:01, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
By the way. In the sockpuppet page you have opened, I reviewed most of what you have said, and it does appear to be a pretty clear-cut case of sockpuppetry. However, before I revert AndyCanada's most recent edit to Soybean, could you explain to me the specific nature of the dispute? It looks as if you two are disagreeing over whether to mention the lack of amino acids in soy protein. Not being experienced in nutrition, I am not familiar with some of the specifics being discussed, and if you could explain the dispute a little more specifically, I would appreciate it. Thank you. --Kuzaar-T-C- 16:10, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
