License tagging for Image:PT2000.jpeg

Thanks for uploading Image:PT2000.jpeg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. Matchbox logo

Any chance of getting that logo (MBL.jpeg) onto Wikipedia Commons (so that it could be used in a German article)? Or is that the "copyright danger" the blurb is referring to?

Erm... not sure I can do that as it is only relevant to the context of this article. I am not sufficiently confident in US Copyright law to use it any more than I need to. Currently, Matchbox still exists but I have used their Logo in association with a product it no longer manufactures or supports. The Proviso on uploading the logo image is it can be used if it is a logo - but the grey area is whether I am authorised to upload it.

Yeah, that copyright stuff is difficult. I wish I understood it.

I was thinking of putting that Matchbox logo in the Matchbox article. However, the English one is already full of photos, so I haven't done anything there yet. Don't want to "overload" it. The German article, however, could use a lead graphic, and I thought this could be it. But I guess it can't.

And speaking of lead graphics...

This next comment might be better in the Powertrack article, but since you're responsible for both, you'll see it here too: despite the fact that I love the graphic MBL.jpeg, I personally think your Powertrack article would be better if you'd scan/photograph the Powertrack logo off of one of those early sets (e.g. PT-6000) and use that to lead in the article. That was a pretty cool logo!

Blimey, I had done exactly that and was just about to upload it. See what you think.

If you would like the MBL logo I'll email it to you - its up to you if you upload it but I personally think that as we are using this site to honour one of the company's successful products and not being derogatory I can't see why they would reject its use within the frame of this article.

I have no other connection to any other Wikipedia site though, only this page.
