The article James With has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —C.Fred (talk) 01:13, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of James With[edit]

A tag has been placed on James With requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 13:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on James With, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —Largo Plazo (talk) 02:25, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at James Wearing Smith. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). A Stranger in Paradise (film)[edit]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on A Stranger in Paradise. This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. noq (talk) 07:24, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

--> noq please advise if the information is written on the official poster for the film A Stranger in Paradise, how does this violate Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to revert such amendments, how does the page ever get to improve with information? Withepedia (talk) 08:54, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Try adding a reference to the content you are adding rather than assuming that people will know where it came from. I have now searched for the film poster and can see that With is credited on it. Add a reference to the poster - preferably with a resolution better than the one in wikipedia so that it can be read. noq (talk) 09:03, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, "James With" is credited twice in the official poster, once in the credits (on the 2nd line below the movie title "A Stranger in Paradise") following after actress Sonia Cooling, James With is credited as an actor, and then his name appears again (on the 3rd line) after the words "consulting producer" "James With" is written. James With is clearly both an accredited actor and accredited producer on A Stranger in Paradise. Withepedia (talk) 09:50, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
--> noq please consider reverting and reinstating the information that you removed in your edit of the film A Stranger in Paradise; it clearly doesn't violate Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. You can also add be so kind as to add the reference to the poster - preferably with a resolution better than the one in wikipedia so that it can be read. (talk) Thank you, however the information added did not appear to violate the terms of permission, your removal and comments have been noted, and further research shall be conducted too. Withepedia (talk) 23:45, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Where's the evidence of permission? The source web page bears an all-rights-reserved license. —C.Fred (talk) 23:46, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
C.Fred the information was initially sourced via public records from legal documents filed in the State of Arizona. In particular, 239_notice-of-filing-second-amended-supplement-to-joint-plan_star-mtn.pdf - 11 - and that document is also referred to in the Star Mountain website, which states "You may link to our homepage, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal, but you must not establish a link in such a way as to suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement on our part." However if this linkage is not in accordance with Wikipedia's policies, then I apologise, as it was inadvertently assumed public information that has been previously published, that is readily available, is acceptable to add to the pages on Wikipedia? Withepedia (talk) 00:31, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not talking about the information that you added. I'm talking about the text, and that was copied word-for-word from http://www.starmountainresources.com/board-of-directors.html, which is under an all-rights-reserved license. —C.Fred (talk) 00:36, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
C.Fred the text is information and wordage that is available in the public domain, after reading https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copying_text_from_other_sources. The corporate website "Terms of Use" were also read and as published, were apparently last modified and effective as of November 1, 2014. The legal documents are stamped with 21st November 2018. Again, I apologise if there was any mistake made. Withepedia (talk) 00:49, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Where are they published in the public domain? Why does Star Mountain Resources hold out ownership of the text? —C.Fred (talk) 00:55, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please note that the indenting standard is to move your reply in one level—in other words, add one more colon than I use. —C.Fred (talk) 00:57, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
C.Fred Thank you for the advice on the use of colons. The text is published in the bankruptcy court documents filed in the District of Arizona, and hence published in the public domain, and also albeit on the Star Mountain website the publishing there is in accordance with requirements for the company to make that information available to the public under SEC reguatory requirements, and therefore in this instance, I don't know whether or not Star Mountain Resources hold out ownership of the text? Please advise? Withepedia (talk) 01:05, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I also found the text on another company's 8-K filing. What I'm not sure of is the legal status of an SEC filing: is it in the public domain just because it is the filing of a publicly-traded company? And worse, where did this text originate? The form I'm looking at is dated 29 May 2014. This is a messy situation that might have to go to a noticeboard for more discussion. —C.Fred (talk) 01:21, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your due diligence and further work in regards to this matter, thank you. Withepedia (talk) 01:24, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
