St Peters, barton-on-humber[edit]

Hi - thanks for adding the 'deadlink' tag. I'm new to editing!

Please can you advise if that is the preferred way to deal with links that are broken and where there is no equivilent material to point to ie to put in a deadline tag rather than to delete the reference? I've come across quite a dead links over the past couple of days and although I am trying to fix as many as possible, there are some where the page that was referred to no longer exists (and I can't find anything esle that does the job as well). Featherstone RUFC[edit]

Hi, I notice that you have made contributions to the Featherstone article. The current rugby league club, Featherstone Rovers, wasn't founded until 1902, and appears to have no links to the earlier rugby union club. However, I have contributed to an article about James "Jimmy" Metcalfe, and I have found details of him playing for Yorkshire in 1896/7 while playing at Featherstone (rugby union), would you have any information about the rugby union club of the 1800s in Featherstone. Succession boxes in multi-member seats?[edit]

Do you know if there has been any past discussion on the issue of putting succession boxes in for members elected in multi-member seats? This seems fine to me in single member seats but problematic in multi-member seats since it's often pure original research to say which of the newly elected members replaced the outgoing members. I was planning to use Tony Benn's Arguments for socialism as a major source, since he covers a broad range of influences including Christian socialism. Nev whom you exchanged comments with on this does not seem to be an active user anymore. The page generally had been fairly dormant for a long time it seems. Thank you for the information you posted on my page. As I suspected, what you cite is a 'general rule' which allows the use of discretion - 'Sometimes a picture may benefit from a size other than the default'. In the case we're discussing the picture comes out impossibly small. I should mention too that I have a smaller screen and use a slightly larger print size than standard, so discretion is in order. To demand that the rule should be observed in all cases seemed pedantic, hence my rather abrupt request above. Three things which I hope you can help with as I've been messing around trying to fix them with the preview button and haven't been able to resolve. Firstly I added new fields to the infobox of Elections to the Corts Valencianes, 2011 for last night's results but they're not showing up and I don't want to update the infoboxes for the other regions until I know what the problem is there. Secondly for reasons which I again can't follow the text in the middle of the Valencia City Council elections page becomes small type, dunno why? Finally as agreed at Talk:Brian_Wilson_(Green_Party_politician) this page should be moved but when I tried myself it wasn't possible as the target page Brian Wilson (Northern Ireland politician) is already a redirect and I can't do anything there without copying and pasting the text. Hello, you might be interested in the new article I created: UVF Mid-Ulster Brigade. It's a bit confusing as they were officially stood down by the Brigade Staff in 1996, but a permutation of the brigade seemed to continue anyway. Merger year for NGA[edit]

Within the article on the NGA you amended the year that it merged with SOGAT from 1992 to 1990.

However the article on SOGAT states 'In 1992, SOGAT '82 merged with ...' And the article on the union that formed from the merger, GPMU, states 'The Graphical, Paper and Media Union (GPMU) was a trade union ... between 1992 and 2005.'

The UNITE website http://www.unitetheunion.org/about_us/history/history_of_gpmu.aspx states its 1991!

From your contribs list I see you're a heck of a contributor. I'm not a big fan of speedy deletes, as I have turned several very stubby entries into legitimate articles, and might never have thought to create the article in the first place. I think the speedy delete goes against the best and highest use of Wikipedia, and if an experienced editor is the page creator, I think it is practically an insult. Roller Derby World Cup[edit]

Hi there! Well done on jumping in on Roller Derby World Cup. I was hoping someone else would. I expect that as we get closer to it we'll more likey to find mainstream news stories for sourcing stuff, so that it's not all DNN. Being on "the ground floor" in Toronto, as it were, I'm keeping my eyes and ears peeled for sources, but having built nearly all of Toronto Roller Derby myself, was waiting for other contributors to jump in on this one. Great job on the chart. I'm also hoping that the article may get expended enough to qualify for a 5x expansion, to allow it to be nominated for submission to the Did you Know? section on the main page, but don't have the time to do so myself right now. BTW - I shared the Suzy Hotrod article on her fan page today on facebook, like "isn't this neat", and whoever moderates the page (Suzy herself? I don't know) responded saying that they thought it wasn't accurate. I offered to step in and help out if there's anything in particular that they felt was wrong, and explained in brief how guidelines for BLPs work for sourcing and info. Have not heard back from them yet, so don't know what they felt was inaccurate, but thought I would give you a heads up about that. I won't have time today or this evening to look into the cited references, but it may turn out that something appears in print yet was reported incorrectly, who knows. If I get a response through facebook - I invited them to send me a private message to discuss further - would I be able to steer them towards your talk page, if they felt there was something that needed urgent attention? Yes, absolutely. It's pieced together from ESPN, newspaper articles and the GGRD website, so there's a reasonable chance that one or more of them included something which wasn't accurate. I know, too, that there's a lot which is missing, because it isn't covered in any of the reliable sources which I've found. This is always a problem with writing biographies on Wikipedia! Will do. I actually just had a look during my lunch and found that indeed, everything you've put in is backed up by the references. So perhaps something was reported incorrectly, or maybe it's more that the info presented seems to have undue weight due to lacking other information which had no sources. (Maybe for example there turns out to be an objection to the weight/height specs, but they are listed on the ESPN article...) I'll see if next time I have more time for extensive googling if I can come up with additional things to add to flesh it out, a usable image, etc. And will pass on to you anything if I do hear back from Suzy or whoever posted that comment. The DYK effort looks to me like yet another Wiki-Cult, and you need to learn the passwords or you don't get in. Anyway, I'm working with Sugar MagMaulYa (play on Sugar Magnolia, a popular tree in the Southern US), who is the PR rep for the team (when she's not animal wrangling, going to grad school or skating), and she's got the actual newspaper clippings, I think. WFTDA maps[edit]

Hi War. (Or is it "hi Dreams") Since you're so gung-ho on the roller derby articles, I thought I would ask you about the maps that are on the WFTDA region articles. Now that there are member leagues outside the United States - Canada, the UK, and Apprentice leagues in Europe and down under - it would appear that the current maps, which are based solely on the US, are no longer appropriate. In the future the WFTDA does intend to create separate regions for outside the US they say, but until then, what do you think about modifying the maps? Where it would get tricky would be say, the North Central currently has teams in Ontario, but not the rest of Canada, so it may only be necessary to add Ontario to the mix for that one, British Columbia for the West region. The East region has Montreal, so add Quebec (and once Rideau Valley in Ottawa gets in, eastern Ontario), and there's London, and will presumably gain others in Europe - having a map that has all of North America AND Europe would be clunky. And who knows where Australia might get slotted in, although I guess the West. So - would it be best for consistency to create world maps, that might only have small sections of the US colored in (like the South Central, which for now is strictly US but would presumably gain teams from South America should any join)? That seems like a large map with relatively little of note on it. Or maybe each map would be mainly the continental US, with the additions of Canadian provinces and any overseas nations that have members? Thanks for your reply, and for restoring the mention in the UKRDA template. I can not agree with your opinion that the original AfD was valid for the reasons I have stated clearly at DRV. As a victim of female-on-male domestic violence, I am very unhappy with the amount of glorification of violence which I have seen while perusing sources about the sport, and I doubt I will ever attend a bout. World Cup pool drawings[edit]

No problem! I figured you might want to build a bracket chart! But seeing as that bracket won't get created until during the tournament, there's at least this grouping. I'm hearing that three teams are already considered "seeded" - I assume to ensure that they don't play each other in the knockout round - and while they haven't announced yet who they are, I imagine it will be the US, Canada and I guess England, but I could be wrong. It would make sense to have three teams get automatic byes - that leaves a group of ten, and then the ten will reduce to five, which then rejoin the other 3 to make eight, which then reduce to 4, and then to the final two. But three byes out of 4 groups... Group A with four countries means they each are guaranteed three games plus the elimination round, whereas the other groups of 3 each will have two guaranteed bouts. But overall it ensures a minimum of 3 or 4 bouts per country - I don't think you'd want to travel all this way for fewer than that. Echoedmyron (talk) 23:35, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
They stated during that draw that the USA, Canada and Germany were the seeds and that they were among those arriving in time for Thursday - I guessed this meant that the seeding was only for the purposes of ensuring they went into separate groups for this draw (and it worked well, as England are in the other group, and although Australia for some reason wasn't seeded above Germany, they've ended up in the same group).
