why did you label this vandalism? this isn't vandalism. there are actually a lot of songs about this "topic" - baby got back and my humps being the most well-known probably. the songs i added are all relevant. it's not me -- pardon the pun - pulling stuff out of my you-know-what. i found a lot of categories sorting songs by subject of the lyrics, so this seemed like something that was okay to do. there is a category for songs about bdsm for example. this seems comparable.

now I am slapped with the vandal label. i did not vandalize. it was not my intention to cause trouble. i know the category is a bit goofy, but there are other similar categories like it. i thought it would be okay if there were categories for songs about prostitutes and bdsm. i followed the procedure I was supposed to follow for contesting the "speedy nomination". i visited the page that your notice told me to visit and made a post explaining why the category was not vandalism. this post was deleted and no one has responded to me.

where can i get help? i followed the procedure that i was supposed to but i got ignored.

You can get help here with the {{help me}} template (like you just did!), at the teahouse, or at #wikipedia-en-help connect. I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{Ping|I dream of horses}} to your message. (talk to me) (contributions) @ 23:02, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Waffles For Dinner. Sorry to hear your category was deleted. It can be discouraging to have your work removed. But understand, there are unfortunately many users who come to Wikipedia with intent to vandalize. A new users who seems to be editing entirely about buttocks is going to raise some eyebrows. My suggestion to you would be to find something else (non-butt related) to edit about, to help show that you came to Wikipedia with good intentions. And later, if you want to try to create the category again, I'd suggest bringing it up at a discussion board like Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music to get other user's opinions on the category before creating it. Hope this is helpful! Howicus (Did I mess up?) 23:04, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for answering. i made the songs about buttocks category because i noticed there wasn't already a category for it. yes it's kind of silly, but so is the songs about prostitutes category if you think about it. i understand if there is a rule somewhere that applies to the category i made. like it's too trivial of a subject to deserve a category or whatever. but the category was "speedy nominated" as vandalism. the notice posted by Gparyani on this page said I could contest this nomination. i posted a message on the page it told me to post it on. NawlinWiki deleted the category, and also deleted the message I left on the page. what i want to know also why was i told i could contest the "speedy nomination" if my message was just going to be deleted? the message contained no swear words or insults. unless you consider the you-know-what pun i made above swearing. i thought it was funny, but if it was out of line i apologize. your point about doing more work on wikipedia to be taken seriously is good. but i don't think that impacts whether or not the category should exist. if it's a category that doesn't belong on wikipedia, the amount of experience of the creator won't change that right? Waffles For Dinner (talk) 23:46, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

here are some lists of songs about buttocks from outside wikipedia: VH1 Buzzfeed Thought Catalog Miami New Times

i am posting this to show my intent was not vandalism. it's a goofy subject to sing about, but people do and the media has noticed and commented on it. so it seems something that might be worth documenting on wikipedia in some way.

About contesting the speedy deletion: what the contesting is supposed to do is give you a chance to explain why you feel the page should exist. It's not a guaranteed way to avoid deletion. Also, the message was deleted because talk pages of deleted pages are routinely deleted.
I think, in this case, the fact that you're a new user *did* influence the survival of the article (even though, strictly speaking, it really shouldn't). It's much easier for a category like that to be taken seriously if the users considering it have other edits by the page creator to go off of, that prove that the page creator isn't just messing around.
If you still want to create that category, I'd suggest raising the issue at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music, to get input from other users who may have more experience with song-related articles.
By the way, I'm not offended by the joke. It was kind of funny. :) Howicus (Did I mess up?) 00:08, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

you make a good point about asking for input at the music project but i honestly don't want to make a big deal out of it. i just don't think it's fair that i got slapped with the vandal label and now have that on my record. i don't think it's fair to make a snap judgment that an edit is vandalism, unless it's obvious vandalism like creating a category called idiots and putting miley cyrus and justin bieber in it. that's obviously someone who's bored and trying to cause trouble. Waffles For Dinner (talk) 00:42, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about it so much; other users won't care as long as you make constructive edits (which you did; I mistakenly marked your category as vandalism because it's mostly vandals who create pages about areas similar to yours, and when you're patrolling new pages, you have to sometimes make fast, quick decisions). Merely asking those at WikiProject Music about creating this category is not making a big deal out of it; you're just trying to gain a consensus, which we Wikipedians routinely do, and what you should be doing (though our policy is to be bold, if someone else disagrees with an action we take, we normally try to gain a consensus to do it per our cycle of be bold, revert, and discuss).
Speaking of being "slapped with the vandal label", merely receiving a warning about it does not do that. What does do it is if you get blocked from editing due to repeated vandalism; all blocks placed against users are logged. We like to assume good faith here, and we only take such actions if it is blatantly obvious that a user intends to disrupt Wikipedia. Gparyani (talk) 17:51, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
