Request for help, Emo Rap[edit]

Would you help with a dispute in emo rap? The dispute is evident on the talk page: Talk:Emo_rap#Revert_05:31.2C_26_March_2007. User:Xcryoftheafflictedx has proven difficult to work with. Viewing the recent edit history going back to 05:31, 26 March 2007 would be helpful in getting an idea of what has been going on. The dispute is that I would like to preserve some of the content (the opening paragraph), and the structure of the entry (espicially the itemized criticism section). This is taking the from of a revert war between myself and this other user. This user is pushing POV, and has a higer regard for their writing abilities than appears justified. Actually, looking at the user's talk page it seems that he has a history of acting unilaterally, and being difficult to work with: User_talk:Xcryoftheafflictedx Thanks in advance. Unnecessary fixing of redirects[edit]

Hello, I noticed you were fixing a few links to redirects lately (specifically, the one I saw was on Dick Cheney, piping in myocardial infarction to heart attack. Heart attack redirects to myocardial infarction. As counter-intuitive as this may seem, editing a page just to fix redirects actually costs the server more resources than it provides. To quote from Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups/About fixing redirects: "In other words, readers of Wikipedia would have to use a redirect link about 10,000 times before it would be worthwhile to replace that link with a direct link." Of course, if you're editing an article anyway, then it's worthwhile to fix the links. Just wanted to give you a heads-up. --Ybbor ^Talk Survey! 15:51, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"worthwhile" is a very subjective term. personally i fundamentally disagree with the idea that any form of article improvement (which, i'm sorry, redirect piping unequivocally is) should be discouraged on economic grounds. it'd also probably be cheaper not to add in any missing full stops we see, and to leave any typos the way they are, and to stop writing anything on talk pages, too, and to stop anyone from having userpages (those edits cost money!!) but those things'd be shite, for obvious reasons.

in any case, i donated a bundle o'bucks last year, which should cover many, many times over the amount of fussy minor edits it takes to make sure myocardial infarction is linked up correctly. W guice 18:07, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Godfrey Winn categories[edit]

Hello,

Godfrey Winn died from a myocardial infarction (a heart attack); myocardial infarction is a form of cardiovascular disease. Therefore, since both categories apply to him, both Categories need to be included in his Article.

date formats[edit]

I noticed that your changed the birth and death dates in Happy Chandler from [[mmmmm dd, yyyy]] format to [[yyyy-mm-dd]] format. I am not sure why you did that. Sure users who have set their date preferences will see it whatever format they prefer, but many logged in users have no date preferences set. Besides, none of the IP/not logged in users, most of whom are here to just read our articles have date preferences set. Most articles about US & Canada topics should have dates formatted in [[mmmmm dd, yyyy]] format and others should be formatted in the European/International format [[dd mmmmm yyyy]]. --rogerd 00:58, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Genre's aren't capitalized?[edit]

Sorry, but where does it say they aren't capitalized? I believe that our content guidelines should be taken very seriously. If, by your reply, I can assume that you intend to continue to make edits such as the one in question, then I would encourage you to take the issue up at WP:REDIRECT and attempt to get the guideline changed. I don't suppose you read criterion 5 of the guideline which states Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable). The article also mentioned their feud with Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefärdende Schriften and I suppose you did not bother with even the most basic of Google searches [1] that easily demonstrates that there are plenty of references about this band and would have led you to the German Wikipedia article. Please use the speedy deletion tags carefully. Incorrect deletions of perfectly reasonable are always infuriating to editors who have spent time building the article. When in doubt, you can always send an article for AfD which of course is a little bit more work but in this case, this was clearly the way to go. Even though the music guideline does not explicitly say "punk bands with a twenty year history are always notable", common sense dictates that unless you're an expert on German punk, you probably are not the best judge of the article's value. I fear I may have inadvertently given fuel to the writer of the unencyclopedic sections when giving a rather borderline article the benefit of the doubt as B-class. Sorry! I've added some review comments to the talk page which should hopefully be of benefit. I think with a situation like this where someone just keeps on adding unencyclopedic material even when you remove it, repeated reversion unfortunately tends only to strengthen their determination to get the material included. The best thing to do here is probably to go to the talk page and try to bash out a compromise there. Some material in the disputed section could probably be included if pruned and rewritten as prose. You might find that WikiProject Schools is of more assistance than WikiProject Cheshire, as they should know what information is generally considered encyclopedic when writing about schools. Cardamon (band)[edit]

I noticed a tag for speedy deletion has been placed by you on the page of the band Cardamon. Apparently because "It is an article about a band, singer, musician, or musical ensemble that does not assert the importance or significance of the subject." I suppose that means it is doubted whether this band actually exists and is a relevant active act. I'm not sure why that could be disputed, because a quick look at their official website and MySpace profile (links to both of which are on the page) will convince any person of the contrary. Secondly, I am the band's drummer's older brother and can therefore personally testify for the band's existence and relevance. Hereby a request to contact me with a more specific reason for the tag and/or if you're meanwhile convinced the tag was put there unnecessarily, please remove it. Thank you.
EDIT: I meanwhile understand a bit more why you may possibly have added the tag. Cardamon is a relatively new and upcoming band. They have one full-length album finished for which they are now in search of a label to release it. It's just that, after you added the tag, I added the 'hold on' tag, as you suggested. Adding that tag apparently makes no difference whatsoever. Everything I did in response to the adding of the 'speedy deletion' tag was blatantly disregarded and the page got deleted. Was there anything I could have done at all to delay or avoid deletion? Drone Download Project[edit]

To be notable, the fact that the Drone Download Project, over the past four years plus current fifth year, has released tracks by dozens of artists with Wikipedia entry makes it noteworthy. First, if so many of the musicians have Wikipedia entries, then obviously a project where they release 1-2 tracks per year is noteworthy - it also goes without saying that if a band like Rush can have an entry for every single song they've every written, not just for the 19 LPs/CDs they've released, a genre like drone/ambient should be given the same consideration despite the vastly smaller audience.

Reading through the guidelines, the DDP is a series of on-going releases and as said, about 20-25% of the artists who have released tracks for it, including Numina, Steve Roach, Robert Rich, and many others with Wikipedia entries, does qualify it as noteworthy. To delete the entry would remove a reference to all of these already "noteworthy" artists' releases. QED. Thanks! Cheers, Wink

As far as "oneupmanship", we are truly confused, both because you don't mention what article(s) you would be referring to, and although you might not believe us, "one..." is the last thing we would ever be interested in doing. We have released music as a duo for almost a decade anonymously, so that should give you an idea of what little ego we have in these things.
