clarification on Pectin.[edit]

I tried to clarify what the drug, Kaopectate, was for. Before my edit it had no link to the sentence before, which describes how pectin can combat diarrhoea and constipation. I thought I should clarify this point. Why was it reverted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pureferret (talkcontribs) 15:23, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Eccles[edit]

Hello! Back in November you added "disputed" and "expert-subject" tags to the article Henry Eccles. A new editor has just removed them, but doesn't seem to have cleared up any of the confusion. I was going to re-add the tags, but I thought I'd check with you first. There are also articles on the related composers Solomon Eccles and John Eccles which seem to contain contradictions too, and they are all lacking in reliable sources. I've just given myself a headache trying to make sense of them all. --Deskford (talk) 02:08, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted the recent edits as there are no in line citations given and it doesn't address the confusion as to which Henry Eccles we are talking about as mentioned on the articles Talk page. I've put other tags on the other articles. They all need attention from someone who has access to reliable sources and knows a bit about the subject. Unfortunately that is not me - maybe you can help? Vrenator talk 09:14, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'll have a look for some sources and see if I can make sense of them. Looking again in daylight I see that the new editor appears to be connected with a CD release so there could be a conflict-of-interest issue. --Deskford (talk) 13:27, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK - Good luck with it. I'll keep an eye on the pages anyway in case anything else comes up. Vrenator talk 13:32, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I am the person who edited the Eccles page. Sorry if I didn't reference well, it was my first ever edit. I have done a fair bit of research on the subject and had corrected the errors in the article. It is now reverted to being very inaccurate and incomplete. What should I do? I am indeed soon releasing a CD of his sonatas, which is partially why I researched him extensively (including a disappointing trip to his Wikipedia page). I'm not sure what the conflict of interest could be, I just wanted to share what I learned and correct the mistakes on the page. Martydavids (talk) 20:39, 9 January 2012 (UTC)martydavids[reply]
Thanks for getting back to us. The most important thing you need to do is provide reliable sources for any changes you make to the article. Please read WP:RS for some background of the Wikipedia policy on providing sources for content. The conflict of interest issue might arise if you appeared to be using the article to promote your CD, so please be careful to remain neutral, presenting facts in as clear and unbiased a way as possible. --Deskford (talk) 21:59, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Quick Question on references/citations for a newbie[edit]

Thanks for the welcome message and cookies! I'm not a great writer, but I'm hoping to work mainly on adding references to articles. Is there a log or something similar of articles that need references? Also, I'm not very familiar with computer languages. Any tips on how to learn the syntax/language.

Mvieiro (talk) 14:56, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can find articles that need references in the references section of Wikipedia:Cleanup. I found the best way to learn is to look at other articles which have the formats you need. Wikipedia Help is also very useful and always click on the Preview button before saving so that you can see what it will look like. Vrenator talk 15:05, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

why remove ECMerge in diff tools comparison?[edit]

Hello,

It seems that you removed the reference to ECMerge in Comparison of comparison tools, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comparison_of_file_comparison_tools&oldid=466005583 could you explain why? the comment talks about "addition".

ECMerge was there since many years, and is rather well referenced by many source code control tools as a differ (see git, hg, various svn clients...)

Elliecomputing (talk) 14:24, 16 January 2012 (UTC) Best regards Armel (from Ellié Computing)[reply]

There were a large number of articles removed which, like ECMerge had no corresponding Wikipedia article. Vrenator talk 14:40, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The policy of the Wiki seems to be to use a full page for a subject only if it is noticeable enough, and use links or sub-sections (as in this comparison page) when the subject is not considered to merit its own page, but then if you delete as well sub-sections because they have not their own page... what can we do? I still believe that a soft that has been around for seven years in this exact domain has its place there. what do you recommand me? Armelec (talk) 08:42, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thapar University[edit]

I feel my edit reverted on a link referencing to 'Colleges and Universities in Punjab' for Thapar University's page is unneeded since its a nationally recognized college and should be compared appropriately. The term you have marked for speedy deletion is a common used term in not only Georgia, but much of the rural southern states... The quote from Tamela Martinez is one she sent me directly from a facebook message because we were arguing the Origins of the word... My ex supervisor, Daniel Ramsey, straightened the matter when he showed us "The Wore-out Sole" believed to be one of the first manuscripts or short novel written by an African American during the Post Abolition Era. Check your history. You must be from up north. These are real people too, message them on Facebook or come to Rev. Ramsey;s sermon at Mt. Zayzew +1 reverted edit[edit]

Hello! You reverted my edit, but I think that my edit is not vandalism. I deleted this phrase: "In march 2012 will be held premiere of season 2." That's in fact machine translation from the same Russian article, and there's no any sources to the "premiere of season 2". In fact, some fans in Russian Wikipedia constantly adding lines like "2 season will be in the end of 2011" or "2 season will be in 2011, july", but no any sources and no press-releases until now. So I reverted the original phrase (in russian version of this article) and reverted it on english version. -- 2.60.31.50 (talk) 12:35, 21 January 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Speedy deletion[edit]

I hired someone to write an article about my company on Wikipedia (I was looking for an experimented wiki user) and you requested its speedy deletion. I had to edit it myself but I am a new Wikipedia user, could you please tell me what I should do to keep it alive ? I would like users who type in the name of my company to find an article in wikipedia introducing it and explaining its features.

And I'm really sorry for my poor english, I am french.

Thank you very much

There is a reply to this on your talk page.Vrenator talk 12:45, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is really not intended to advertise the website, I just wanted to have a page that describes the company when people type in its name in Google for example. I tried to follow the same page structure as this one for example : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebMD

I understand that it is a much smaller company and that we don't have much press yet, but is it possible to have a simple page describing the website and its aims ?

Thank you for your time. If there is absolutely no way of keeping this page alive, I would understand. Techlabsfr (talk) 12:52, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is up to an administrator to decide whether or not to delete it. As it stands there needs to be some independent sources to indicate notability or it will be deleted. Vrenator talk 12:55, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"The one year subscription is activated automatically on purchasing Uniblue’s products. Hi, with regard to your revert here, it does appear sourced in a later ref added by the same anon IP. You may want to reconsider or challenge the source if you feel it is too weak. Regarding the Ponderosa High School (Parker, CO) Notable Alumni[edit]

An edit was recently undone by you on the Ponderosa High School (Parker, CO) page, in the Notable Alumni section. This was probably justly done, as the edit was ridiculous. However, I fear that you might not have gone far enough. Only a handful of the people on that page are notable in any regard - and many of them have even more trivial (and fabricated) accomplishments than in the edit you deleted.

There's a difference between EMBRYONIC stem-cell research (which Carl Levin explicitly supports) and ADULT stem-cell research. Saying just stem-cell research leads to confusion. Greyhound video[edit]

Hi there Vrenator, Did you actually view the "Absolut" Greyhound video? Yes, its commercial, and its bizarre - but it is an authentic cultural reference to the Greyhound. I don't think that was vandalism. Best wishes Richard Hawkins (talk) 03:12, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There was no link to view, just the comment "ABSOLUT GREYHOUND - world premiere of multi-dimensional cocktail experiences from ABSOLUT, featuring new music by Swedish House Mafia" how does that positively contribute to the article? Vrenator talk 08:15, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See the video and you will understand. I thought there was a link. If the link was not made, it was probably due to ineptness. I don't mind one way or the other. It is commercial, but it is also a valid, possibly interesting cultural reference.Richard Hawkins (talk) 11:10, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If it is supposed to be a link then the link needs to be there with wording that at least in some way indicates its relevance. Without that it is not a constructive edit. Vrenator talk 11:54, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

STiki: A new version and a thank you![edit]

Greetings Vrenator. As the developer of the STiki anti-vandal tool, I would like to thank you for recent and non-trivial use of my software. Whether you just tried out the tool briefly or have been a long-term participant, I appreciate your efforts (as I am sure does the entire Wikipedia community)!

I write to inform you of a new version of the software (link goes to list of new features). This version addresses multiple long-term issues that I am happy to put behind us. Try it out! Provide some feedback!

The STiki project is also always seeking collaborators. In particular, we are seeking non-technical colleagues. Tasks like publicity, talk-page maintenance, advertisement, and barn-star distribution are a burden to technical development. If you are interested, write me at my talk page or STiki's talk page.

As STiki approaches two significant thresholds: (1) 100,000 revert actions and (2) 400 unique users -- I hope to have your support in continuing the efficient fight against unconstructive editing. Thanks, West.andrew.g (talk) 23:54, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It should probably go to AFD though: I can't find any WP:RS confirming it, and that might not even be enough if it was only a quick mention rather than a substantial appearance. Bot did not help[edit]

Hi. I suggest you look again at this reversion which occurred in the middle of a concerted campaign of constructive vandalism by someone apparently in Spain. Cheers, Bjenks (talk) 02:59, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Synergy Resources inappropriate deletion[edit]

The Synergy Resources page was on par with the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epicor page. Both were references for ERP software creators. If the Epicor page continues to exist, then that is an inconsistent application of the guidelines. The "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" link was not available. Making a notification at 1:30AM, then a deletion thereafter gives me no opportunity to respond to the nomination before it is deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dewolfe001 (talkcontribs) 15:42, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

monochromatic[edit]

Monochromatic and monochrome are two words, meaning something slightly different. Which one is meant here. I seem to find that the other one is meant here, but perhaps I am wrong. Monochrome is having different shades of the same color and monochromatic is just one color I understand from Webster. May be this is helpful... I hope so. That warning was put on over a year ago and it was an edit by the IP address you are now using. Vrenator talk 12:19, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong person blamed for edit[edit]

Hi Venrator. You sent a message just now to the IP address I'm currently using. Your message is at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:60.230.198.136&diff=cur. However, such a messge is pointless, as I get a new IP every time I boot up my PC, as do most people. I've never understood this aspect of how Wikipedia works - it seems dumb. Edits to articles should be forbidden unless (a) the editor is a registered Wikipedian, & (b) he/she is identified by a password or cookie. Not suprisingly, the quality of many articles is dropping. This is pretty sad. Keit60.230.198.136 (talk) 12:22, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The edit was made from that IP address. Wikipedia is available for anyone to edit and there are many people who check to ensure that the edits are constructive and remove any vandalism. It is recommended that people set up a user account so as not to be blamed for other people's edits, but it is not mandatory. IP's who vandalise Wikipedia repeatedly are blocked from editing for a period of time or permanently if persistent vandalism occurs.Vrenator talk 10:06, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:Dharmji1[edit]

Hello Vrenator, the user Dharmji1 has repeatedly been adding promotional content to Armori, disrespecting your previous warnings. As I checked on this page recently, I noticed he had again added advertisement about his company, this time cleverly embedded in a poorly written "EDUCATION" section, which I deleted. For the sake of the encyclopedia, I impose upon you that you will kindly take action towards an editing block for Dharmji1. Thank you for your help in advance. Regards, Bassmachine89 (talk) 14:56, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. As there is a considerable time lapse since the last warnings I have issued another warning and if the user persists he will be reported and possibly blocked.Vrenator talk 08:37, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

COI[edit]

You tagged WorldNet_TPS for a possible COI, and I suspect Payjack may have the same situation. Perhaps you know details of the COI. --DThomsen8 (talk) 23:28, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong person[edit]

I never edited in Wimbledon 2012 with something bad and you should not make mistakes because you are a robot.oh and this site is very bad because anyone can edit and so most of the information is wrong i quit this site. Peace Out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.200.46.132 (talk) 12:43, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The warning on your Talk page was put there over a year ago. Someone from the IP you are using vandalised the Wimbledon page. If you get a user name you will not get warnings meant for other people. Vrenator talk 13:17, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Editing error[edit]

Hi there

I have received a surprise message on Wikipedia saying that I have been given a level 1 warning for malicious editing, on two pages I've never even heard of let alone visited. I think there is clearly some sort of IP error somewhere here. If you email me on mail AT simonvarwell.co.uk I will reply with a screen grab of the error message.

cheers Simon — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.104.210.29 (talk) 18:16, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The warning was posted in January 2012. Someone editing from this did the edits. I have removed the warning as it is quite old now. Vrenator talk 12:38, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Star-crossed page curation[edit]

Sorry, you can't speedy a plot summary for lack of significance. I did a little digging (ons Google search...) and it's a self-published book, so I've prodded it. I'm finding some odd speedy tagging since this damn Page Curation thing appeared. Might be down to that. I've looked at it, and didn't like it. And told them so, too. Looks like it ought to be in colour but is displaying in greyscale, and that ******* thing that slides up and down obscures the text and looks like one of those addthis things that pester you to 'like' or 'digg' things. If I get more odd tags from people who usually know what they're doing, I'll start keeping records and checking up - and if I find it's this PC thing, I definitely won't be PC when I let those responsible for it know.. Peridon (talk) 12:51, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the ******* language... 8-) Peridon (talk) 12:53, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know - I'll try to be more careful! Vrenator talk 12:54, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm trying to get into Pc at the moment to see what the tagging thing actually says. When I first looked at PC, the thing followed me, and I told it to go away. I can't get it back at all now! The 'significance. reason may not specify that it's limited in application to things like people, companies, named animals and web content. I've left them a message. As you might gather, I'm not very impressed by it... Peridon (talk) 13:41, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted to using the Twinkle options for tagging as it is much clearly. Today was the first time I've come across the PC thing which has some good points such as the popup information about the creator, history etc. Vrenator talk 13:44, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

constructive?[edit]

First of all, I was the President of the Society for the U.S. Midwest Chapter and know of what I speak. You have allowed a completely DESTRUCTIVE piece to remain unchallenged. You too are propagandists! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.54.85.210 (talk) 10:18, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you have constructive comments on an article, use the article's talk page. Do not "rant" on the article as that is vandalism and will be reverted. Do not insult other editors as you will get yourself blocked from editing. Vrenator talk 10:22, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle edit summaries[edit]

Is there a reason you removed a lot of the edit summaries for your Huggle actions? - Kingpin13 (talk) 10:46, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest I have no idea what you mean. As far as I'm aware I've just downloaded the latest versions of Huggle. The revisions you are referring to are over a year ago so I have no recollection of them whatsoever. If there's something that I've changed and need to change back please let me know. Vrenator talk 10:53, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As you can see in your recent contributions, a lot of your Huggle edits have no edit summary attached. This is because your configuration page at User:Vrenator/huggle.css. Since removing those summaries seems to have been a mistake, I've restored them for you here. You might need to restart Huggle to load that new configuration (and make sure that it doesn't overwrite the changes next time you close it). - Kingpin13 (talk) 11:19, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Vrenator talk 11:24, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've downdownloaded Huggle again but every time I start it up it revises the configuration file. Any ideas how I can stop it doing this. Vrenator talk 12:03, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing this is your local configuration file. In Huggle, go to System > Options... and click "View local configuration folder". Have a look through config.txt and see if you can find the warn-summary, report-summary etc. in there and if so change them. If that doesn't work, I would suggest you try deleting the local configuration folder (create a back-up first). - Kingpin13 (talk) 15:02, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jon Huertas[edit]

I unfortunately do not have a good enough source for you, unless going through Jon Huertas' Twitter will do it any good. He hasn't confirmed to anyone publicly that he is engaged, but his girlfriend has a ring on her finger and many fans saw him get congratulated at Comic Con. If anything, his Twitter and such can confirm he that Nicole is his girlfriend. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charmbraceletxox (talkcontribs) 06:39, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You're just in time :)[edit]

Greetings, I was just about to place a block on the IP with the school softblock template. If you look at their log the amount from Cluebot NG was 24,000 characters before I stashed them all on a Word Document, this constitues to about 15 Vandalism acts and the majority have came this month. I've been given permission by my school's technicians to place this block. Thanks for your help though. CHCSPrefect (talk) 14:06, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't look like the owner has any intention to stop, it would be best to take this to the Admins, it looks like a school IP to me so it may be best to ask the Admin to check whom it belongs to. Nevertheless that log is definitely shaping up to be block worthy. Meva / CHCSPrefect - (Give cake?) 11:09, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unconstructive/vandalism[edit]

I see that you have reverted an edit in Francis Collins article, and your justification is "unconstructive". For me it is a clear case of vandalism, and actually I think that it is also for you. So, I am intrigued of your motives for labelling it as unconstructive.--Auró (talk) 21:03, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Sphygmomanometer[edit]

Hello there, I would just like to say that I didn't mean to leave the page "Sphygmomanometer" blank. Yes I did blank the page (it was a foolish joke with some friends), however I restored the page afterwards. I realise the inconvenience which arises from such incidents and I apologise for that :-) - User:Netsurfer123 20:26, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

George Soros was convicted of insider trading a few years back[edit]

Hey dude, you shouldnt jump on the bandwagon of liars like the last dude who removed "ex-con" from Soros article, due to the reference for that verymuch so CONSTRUCTIVE edit, which should be transparent. It was refernce number 38, from the New York Times (International herald Tribune), and i feel that your obvious highly-skilled editorial abilities should be used CONSTRUCTIVELY, elsewhere — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.179.0.179 (talk) 16:30, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reverting the recent vandalism to this site. It seems to attract vandals, but that's Paisley humour for you. Alfrew (talk) 00:22, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comparison of File Comparison tools[edit]

I did not make a page on DiffMerge. I added it to a table in an article comparing many Merge tools, which don't all have dedicated pages. It is ridiculous to delete this because I didn't make a separate dedicated page for DiffMerge. There is no requirement that every mention of something in one page have its own separate page—this creates an undo burden and defeats the purpose of Wiki and community input. If I had the time to do that, I would have. Your automated deletion of what took time and energy to add to the wiki is quite rash. It is a notable tool that operates on all major OSes, and I don't have to justify it to you. Please un-Undo your deletion of my edits, or we can just seek a mod's and/or community input here. Avé 21:12, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

I did not say you made a page on DiffMerge I said that there was previously one which was deleted. I am perfectly aware of what your edits were but the page clearly states that,"This article is limited only to comparison tools that have a separate article on Wikipedia". Huh?[edit]

I changed one word in the Evil Corporations article to better reflect the common perception. I was considering adding a link to the Golden Poo award (given to the worst company in America each year) when you reverted my one word change less than 1 minute after I made it. I have one question: Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.180.24.224 (talk) 11:26, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
