  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.

Dear joshua Trust me South Asia is a political term when there is a talk about history of India it is always used India, South Asia is just a political term for Indian subcontinent, all the reference that are given have mentioned history of India, ancient India ,Indian subcontinent. So please don't change the term Indian subcontinent to South Asia as a political term thank you. Vkk123 (talk) 16:03, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

you are being naive, history cannot be changed by making consensus on Wikipedia what is South Asia anyway?? If it is not Indian subcontinent, then when talking about ancient history kingdoms why use South Asia? Vkk123 (talk) 18:41, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hi Vkk123. Please read the contentious topics notice above carefully and note that repeatedly pushing a particular point of view can result in sanctions. I notice that you've changed South Asia to India or Indian subcontinent in more than one place and that's not a good idea. If you think South Asia to be incorrect usage, you should seek broader input on article talk pages or, more globally, at WT:IN. RegentsPark (comment) 21:57, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was not pushing my idea I was being correct, you see South Asia is a political term you will not see any mention of term South Asia in history of India or history books of India in any country so why Wikipedia? Vkk123 (talk) 04:22, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
https://www.britannica.com/place/Mauryan-Empire
please aslo have a look on Britannica link and other reliable article about mauryan Empire it all mention Ancient india or indian subcontinent, Wikipedia cannot just make things up itself Wikipedia is a compilation of knowledge from different sources so Wikipedia should use the term that is used in history books or articles. see my point is when almost 95% of Indian land that was covered at that time then why not use Indian subcontinent when the culture of the Empire was an Indian culture, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism, as I give you the example of Qing dynasty of china. You notice the difference in the kind of publications my search-string and your search-string bring up? Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 06:28, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then may I suggest you to change Ancient China's Qing dynasty as East asian dynasty because it consist Mongolia and Russia too, and if not then why not? Vkk123 (talk) 06:53, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
no so I want to ask why all the reference given on Wikipedia says ancient India and not South Asia? What is your next plan make Indian Ocean in to South Asian ocean it will sound better don't you think? Vkk123 (talk) 07:00, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@RegentsPark: time to block diff diff. Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 06:36, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joshua Jonathan: As Vkk123 appears to have stopped reverting and is willing to discuss the issue, I won't block them. Vkk123, please seek consensus before replacing South Asia. Thanks.RegentsPark (comment) 13:35, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

so you said there was no Hinduism then so you wrote Vedic religion or brahmanism, but there was South Asia then right? Must be right Vkk123 (talk) 06:52, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
because it amuses me how Hinduism sacred book is Vedas but it is not vedic religion and how instant form of Hinduism should not be called Hinduism because a western Wikipedia user does not think so? Anyways Wikipedia is not a source of history good thing because people like you always make it propaganda and history that suits them Vkk123 (talk) 06:55, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
waiting for your reply on Qing dynasty, why not change it to East Asian dynasty Vkk123 (talk) 06:59, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Origins of Hinduism. Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 07:52, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

the page link you send clearly says origins of Hinduism, meaning it is talking about Hinduism, then why must it not be called ancient Hinduism when everyone says it and there is a consensus about it. Also waiting for your Qing dynasty as ancient china explanation. Vkk123 (talk) 13:22, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Either chance Qing dynasty to east asian dynasty or Maurya as ancient indian kingdom.or At least as Indian subcontinent. Vkk123 (talk) 13:23, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Where is "ancient China" mentioned on Qing Dynasty? Aman Kumar Goel (Talk) 15:11, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Arjayay. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Curry, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 00:21, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable source is already there,just open the link there... Britannica has already mentioned it just open it Vkk123 (talk) 09:54, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately your edits did nothing to improve the article. Wikipedia does not directly copy content from Britannica, and the origins of Curry are discussed in full in the section below. Saying that curry is associated with South Asian cuisine already includes India, it doesn't need mentioned again. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 12:12, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Equally unfortunately, you appear to continuing the behaviour on a number of articles that RegentsPark warned you about above. Some dishes may have originated in India, but that does not mean that they are not now associated with South Asian cuisine, which includes India. Going through articles to replace one with the other, or adding "Indian" to "South Asian" is not a productive way to spend your time. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 13:04, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
