Orphaned fair use image (Image:Airzimbabwe.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Airzimbabwe.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:34, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reference for Vietnam Airlines fleet[edit]

I noticed that on May 12th, you edited the fleet information section on the Vietnam Airlines article. While you added a reference tag, you did so in a manner that didn't work correctly. Adding an empty "ref" tag with a name attribute is intended to point multiple citations on a single article to a single source, however there is no other citation to this source on this article, thus the source isn't displayed. Please see Wikipedia:Footnotes for details on how to use "ref" tags, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. -- Hawaiian717 20:08, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Lakis Gavalas[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Lakis Gavalas, by SatyrTN (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Lakis Gavalas seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Lakis Gavalas, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 05:56, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo airdolomiti.PNG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo airdolomiti.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Logo airmalawi.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo airmalawi.PNG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:54, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for Image:Zambian_logo.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zambian_logo.PNG. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. OsamaK (talk) 08:41, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Gabriel Emilio Hernández Ibarzábal[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gabriel Emilio Hernández Ibarzábal, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Proposed deletion of Marcelina Chissano[edit]

The article Marcelina Chissano has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

I have nominated Gabriel Emilio Hernández Ibarzábal, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gabriel Emilio Hernández Ibarzábal. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Bongomatic 23:18, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Cameroonairlines logo.PNG[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Cameroonairlines logo.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:39, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 24[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Belgravia (TV series), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Adam James (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

The page Robert Portal has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0691928/bio. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review GirthSummit (blether) 14:08, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - just to expand on this, while there wasn't much prose in the article, almost all of it was copied directly from IMDB. If there had been any viable sources I would have looked at reworking it myself, but aside from IMDB (UGC, unreliable) the only source was a Radio Times article that did not appear to mention him at all (it was quite a long piece with lots of adverts, but I searched for "Robert Portal", and just for "Portal", and drew a blank both times - let me know if I missed anything). So, I'd have been left with a BLP without any prose or sourcing - not ideal. If you want to pursue this, please write your own prose without copying from IMDB, and find reliable, independent secondary sources that cover the subject in significant depth. Your contributed article, Emily reid[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Emily reid. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Emily Reid. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Emily Reid. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Schazjmd (talk) 20:58, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stevee Davies moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Stevee Davies, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Deletion discussion about Toby-Alexander Smith[edit]

Hello, Anthonycarrol

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username DarkGlow and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Toby-Alexander Smith, should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Toby-Alexander Smith.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|DarkGlow}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello DarkGlow

Thank you for reviewing the page I created for Max Bowden. I tentatively added three references from my research. There are obviously less references available for my topic as Max is a young actor.

I added far more to the article I created for Max Parker and am somewhat confused as to why the particular article was deleted.

I obviously am trying to learn and understand better as I am only a novice.

Thank you for all you help thus far, Anthony Carrol

Problematic editing[edit]

Hello! I've seen your edits on soap-related articles, and wanted to inform you of a few guidelines.

  • Per MOS:ITALICS, the names of all television series and films that actors appear in should be italicised.
  • Per WP:NACTOR, actors that have a few roles are not considered notable. Take Toby-Alexander Smith for example, he does not meet NACTOR.

Let me know if you have any questions. – DarkGlow (talk) 13:31, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DarkGlow: My apologies for not having italicised the names of all television series and films that actors appear in my articles.

I was advised by another user that it was not necessary to do so. I will comply hereon. Thanks, Anthony Carrol

I'm not sure who told you that, but you must italicise all works of art such as television series, films, albums, short films, theatre shows, etc etc. You also have to be careful with the amount of articles you create – only actors and actresses with multiple, notable roles meet WP:NACTOR. It's best to work on articles in your sandbox to get them perfect before publishing them. I am a page reviewer so I don't mind looking over your articles if you want me to. – DarkGlow (talk) 21:35, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BLP tips[edit]

Hey, just a few tips, as I've noticed you mainly edit on BLP (biography of a living person) articles.

  • Do not use "best known" – "known" is the preferred phrase.
  • Do not add unsourced birth years or birthdays. Unless you can find a reliable source that verifies their age/birthday, avoid adding them.
  • Do not use The Sun, Daily Mail or The Mirror as a reference. They are considered unreliable; look at WP:THESUN for more info on that.
  • Add a short description that is under 40 characters, and don't add the "Pearbot5" thing, as you aren't Pearbot5.

With these little tips, your articles would be much better! Let me know if you have any questions :) – DarkGlow (talk) 11:41, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Transfermarkt[edit]

Since much of its content is user-edited, Transfermarkt is not considered a reliable source. Please do not cite the website in articles. Thank you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:15, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sir Sputnik: I'd keep an eye out on football related articles Anthony creates. He has little to no consideration for tips that editors like ourselves give him, and continues to make ill-conceived additions such as poor sources and unsourced information to BLPs. – DarkGlow (talk) 00:25, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Pigsonthewing. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you unlinked one or more redlinks from The Salisbury Poisonings. Often redlinks can be helpful, so we don't remove them just because they are red. They help improve Wikipedia by attracting editors to create needed articles.

In addition, clicking on the "What links here" special link (in the Wikipedia Toolbox at left) on a missing article shows how many—and which—articles depend on that article being created. This can help prioritize article creation. Redlinks are useful! Please, only remove a redlink if you are pretty sure that it is to a non-notable topic and not likely ever to be created. Thanks! In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Short description changes[edit]

Hello, long time no see – just a quick query: why are you changing a large number of short descriptions from "English actor/actress" to "British actor/actress"? – DarkGlow () 22:01, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DarkGlow: Hello, I trust you are keeping well. There is a variation of short descriptions showing either "English actor/actress" and "British actor/actress". Having spoken to another Wiki user there suggestion is to rather use the term "British" as it refers to a British person without defining their race or religion. By using the term "English" comes across as the West Germanic language first spoken in early medieval England which eventually became the leading international language in use today - ToTo 18:11, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just seen this, apologies. The term "English" does not define race or religion, since a black Muslim can be English, as well as a Pakistani buddhist. This should have been discussed in a more public forum, since you're making large scale changes. – DarkGlow () 14:03, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think your "Reply to" worked, since it did not notify me (hence the late reply) – just using "Re" works fine DarkGlow () 14:05, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Continued short description amendments[edit]

Hello – I see that you are still changing short descriptions without consensus, which is disruptive editing in itself. I wanted to ask you though: how come you freely use Welsh and Scottish but change any mention of "English" to "British"? The same logic for using Welsh and Scottish should be applied to English. If people are born in England, yes they are British, but they are specifically English. – DarkGlow • 19:19, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
