Editing Welsh place names

Tk420, I am concerned about your editing of place names in articles related to Mid Wales. You asked the question at Talk:Aberdyfi that generated a consensus against moving that article to "Aberdovey". Yet you are working against that consensus in mass changing links in articles to "River Dovey". You unilaterally moved Afon Llyfnant to River Llyfnant and are trying to move Afon Twymyn to River Twymyn. Both of these moves are controversial and you have no consensus to make these moves. Please revert your edits and moves, and seek consensus at the appropriate article talk pages. Thank you, Railfan23 (talk) 17:32, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

I strongly object to your claim at Talk:River Dovey that your mass changes have "have gone unchallenged". What do you think the comment above is? How can I make it any clearer that I challenge these edits? I asked you to revert them. You have not. I will not revert them as you clearly do not believe anyone is challenging your editing until you are reverted. Railfan23 (talk) 00:25, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Your amendment to the Machynlleth article so that the name of the river bridge read "Pont ar Dyfi bridge" suggests a limited understanding of the Welsh language, as "Pont" means bridge. I have reverted that edit and added the Welsh name. In general , I agree with Railfan23 that your multiple changes have been made without seeking consensus, which is not the way to proceed. Canvassing re. Talk:River Dovey

Your canvassing of editors for the move discussion at Talk:River Dovey is unacceptable. I am again having to object to your behavior here. The message you left on the talk pages of SionK and Redrose64 are far from a fair and neutral account of the debate. You are not "up against User:Railfan23". This is a discussion, not a battlefield. I never "claimed that the discussion was about the Welsh language not some dialect of English". I have not in any way "dismissed Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English as a red herring". And saying I am "adamant that Aberdyfi is the sole official name for the village of that name" is a lie.

Notifying editors using an extremely biased and untrue statement is the epitome of canvassing. This is not acceptable on Wikipedia. Please immediately add a note to the talk pages of Redrose64 and SionK acknowledging these errors, to avoid biasing the discussion. Thank you, Railfan23 (talk) 14:16, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

November 2021

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (film), it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 18:11, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
