A tag has been placed on Tick key, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ninety:one 20:09, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Re. User name[edit]

I picked that user name because that was the article I was going to write about. I didn't really think about whether I was going to write anything else in the future. I'm sure sorry to be causing all this trouble. I honestly only ever intented to write an article about what tick key is. I use Wikipedia all the time for my graduate degree study papers and thought it would be neat to tell people what tick key was. But if that will not be working out I can understand and will only use Wikipedia for my college degree and not try to publish on here. Honestly, I am very sorry to be causing so much trouble. Help request[edit]

I have tried to tidy up this user page a bit. Please make new messages by creating a new section at the end.  Chzz  ►  21:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} [[Talk:Tick key| I would like to resubmit my page. I have written a more nuetral, factual account of what tickkey is. Can I try again in the test area perhaps? Tickkey (talk) 21:02, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Amanda]][reply]

Firstly, your user name is a problem, as it is a form of advertizing; please change it, by going to Wikipedia:Changing username.
Next, if you have a 'conflict of interest' - ie if you are involved with the organization - then you should not directly create the article - in this case, please read WP:BFAQ.
Next, if you do want to make it, does it meet the notability requirements in WP:ORG?
If it does, then you could perhaps create an article in your user area. You could click on User:Tickkey/my page and make it there. (You'll have to change that link when you've changed your user name). Make sure to include reliable sources, as everything must be verifiable. For help with how to make references, see user:chzz/help/ref.
Because of the previous problems, I recommend that you get the article checked before you consider making it live again. You could ask in WP:FEED, perhaps.
I also recommend that you work in other areas of Wikipedia, editing existing aticles, to 'get the hang of things'. You might be interested in the cleanup campaign, or helping out with peer reviews. You could browse the many projects, look at the newest articles, or maybe just something random. We have a list of requested articles, requests for feedback, and a huge backlog of tasks.
Hopefully, this will give you some ideas.
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
Best wishes,  Chzz  ►  21:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tickkey → Aps2227[edit]

{{helpme}}I hopefully have changed my username and will be reviewing everything you repsonded with right away. Thank you for your help. Tickkey (talk) 21:38, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Amanda[reply]

Hi. That looks good; thanks for sorting that out. I've moved this down to the end - it makes things easier to follow if you create new sections at the end of your talk page, instead of the beginning.
The user name change will be processed in due course; it usually doesn't take long. Maybe a few hours.
Good luck with everything, and please don't hesitate to ask for more help whenever you need it. Feel free to come and talk to us with this.  Chzz  ►  21:43, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You need to post your user name change request at WP:CHU, not here on your talk page. – ukexpat (talk) 22:02, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
