December 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi The Education Auditor! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Thank you for your feedback. I'll familiarise myself with it before using it again. The Education Auditor (talk) 07:53, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

University of Newcastle 2022 Annual Report: where did you get the student stats?[edit]

Hi, this revision in which you cited the University of Newcastle's 2022 Annual Report when you updated the data in the article, where in that reference did you get those statistics? I have used my PDF viewer's find function to look for the numbers you put into the infobox and I cannot find any of them. The student statistics on page 136 pertain to student loads not headcounts so is not really suitable for the infobox. Fuse809 (contribs · email · talk · uploads) 11:57, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Heyyy :-)

After adding the staff and student figures for most Australian university articles, I realised that I had forgotten to mention that many of them were full-time equivalent figures and went back to add FTE to them. It seems that I have forgotten to do the same for EFTSL student figures.

Since the EFTSL figures are better than no student figures, feel feel to add the ^ note template to them with something like:
EFTSL stands for Equivalent Full-Time Student Load. It is a measure of the study load, for a year, of a student undertaking a course of study on a full-time basis.
while you update the articles. I'll update the rest when I have free time.

Feel free to update any other mistakes I may have made. I'm an amateur editor who is still learning.

Stay snazzy ❤️

Also, maybe write it like 1,234 (EFTSL, 2022) with the EFTSL linked to Course credit#Australia like EFTSL.

Hey again 🤪

I just checked and the figures are in an image on the PDF. Searching for Student Enrolments by Academic Level might help.

I'm having some difficulties finding the total student count though. Most Wikipedia articles and annual reports from Australian universities don't seem to include commencing students in categorised enrolments but the PDF doesn't seem to provide total figures for non-commencing undergraduate and postgraduate students in this case, and the figures provided don't add up to their total enrolments figure.

My best guess is that whoever made the PDF used an image of the figures made on a date before the total enrolments figure was calculated. I'm also assuming they may have wanted to add the commencing students for marketing purposes. International students may find a larger university with 35,000+ students more attractive than a smaller one with 25,000+ students.

This is kinda frustrating me because and I can't seem to figure it out what's up. I may have missed something. Thoughts?

To infinity and beyond 🚀

Also, sorry for misreading your question.

I've gone ahead and replaced doctoral with research on the rest of the universities. Should make it easier to check the figures 🤙

Hi, thank you for your replies. I will admit, I don't know how we would get the right totals either. But I have edited the Uni of Newcastle article to specify that the figures are EFTSL with that term explains using the {{abbr}} template. Awesome! The numbers are still more complete, recent and reliable than ones used on most articles about overseas universities so no stress.

Your opinion is requested[edit]

Hi. I know you're semi-retired, but if you have the time/inclination: You've participated in discussions on the Joan of Arc talk page, and I've begun a consensus discussion there now. Can you offer your opinion? Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 03:48, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Large edit summaries[edit]

Please note that the lengthy edit summaries might 'feel good' but tend to get lost once further edits are made, really important things that you want to be really noted, can, in most cases be better stored on talk pages... JarrahTree 11:53, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits.
