Dingo[edit]

Hello, thanks for your edits on Dingo. Although I sympathise with your position, I have reverted them to avoid yet another edit war breaking out on that page. You don't want to be getting all of these people agitated once again - Talk:Dingo#Using a modified Infobox dog breed template instead of Taxobox Because the article falls under WikiProject Mammals, we are required to use Wozencraft's classification of C. l. dingo due to Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals#Guidelines, at least for now.

There are two points of view as you have found in the article - the dingo is regarded as a separate species Canis dingo or the dingo is an early dog Canis familiaris. I would suggest that the dingo is the sister of the modern dog and they share a common ancestor - what that ancestor was we are not sure. No researcher is yet directly stating that a speciation event has occured, and they probably should. There will be a major study released later this year that will answer many of these questions. I ask that you leave the taxobox alone for now, and there will be opportunity for adjustment once the report is released. William Harris • (talk) • 04:41, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
