You're welcome![edit]

No problem keeping your images free of "RUNESCAPE SUX LOLOLOLOL!!!!111one!1". Those annoying vandals get everywhere. :-)

I've had a look at those new uploads; I think Image:Runescape equipment armours dragon-chikoritapro.gif would be the best to keep, since dragon is more well-known. Still, its your call.

I might move some of the images related to transport or teleportation to Gielinor. Just seems more appropriate, plus the main article is looking a little odd at low resolutions. Cheers, CaptainVindaloo t c e 19:09, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Both those equipment animations have some sort of benefit. The Gold Castle Wars one have me wearing that Party Hat I never wear and shows the stereotypical elitist outfit, while the Dragon one looks more normal to a RuneScape player, and somewhat stereotypical elitist. However, the Gold Castle Wars one has a sloppier background while the Dragon one is kind of already represented in a Combat image. It's too hard for me to choose.
It would be easier to just keep both, but seeing the crap I went through a year ago, I have a feeling that ain't gonna happen.
Either way, one thing's true: whatever the scenario is, there is bound to be someone attempting to impersonate me with 'em :p. Tarikochi 19:32, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Oh yea, another thing. I have uploaded all my images onto the RuneScape Wiki, so if you think there are any images that Wikipedia needs, you can find them listed in a category I made. Tarikochi 19:39, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
AAARGH what's happened to wikia?! Speaking of which, I think RSW is GFDL, so we could get any additional images from there, if we needed them. CaptainVindaloo t c e 19:50, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No idea, but the link works fine to me. All my images in Wikipedia have them at the bottom of the description. Tarikochi 19:57, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Oh, the link's fine, just all the colours and layouts have changed since I last visited. CaptainVindaloo t c e 20:00, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't bite newcomers[edit]

I noticed the message you recently left to Runescape. Please remember to try not to bite the newcomers. If you see someone make a common mistake, try to politely point out what they did wrong and how to correct it. Thank you. OhanaUnitedTalk page 17:21, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also please read WP:SOCK, as I'm not sure that a new user would have a sole contribution in the talk page and automatically know how to sign a page, with a similar "different" user having the same goal on the main article. Thank you. Tarikochi 17:35, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Hope you don't mind...[edit]

I've tagged some of your older animations which you have replaced with {{orfud}}, per Talk:RuneScape#Images 2. Some WP:NFCC concerns were raised. I hate to see them go, but we've got to stay on the safe side. Besides, if we decide to keep them, we can detag, I've also taken offline copies and we can always DRV them as well. :-) CaptainVindaloo t c e 18:21, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Runescape equipment armours dragon-chikoritapro.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Re:Busy City?[edit]

Sorry about the delay. I had little Internet access for two weeks, and then when I got back, it slipped my mind. Anyway, to the point.

Admittedly, I don't consider the size of articles or media very often, because they're rarely an issue to me. You're right there that those animations are too big, especially for those with dial-up. However, I still think that the current image may not be ideal. It doesn't have to be exactly as I described it, but if we use an image to represent character appearance in the game, it should probably have at least several people dressed in a wide variety of clothing. If this isn't possible to have while maintaining a small size, then it can be just a few people. The idea is that the range of possible appearances is represented as much as possible in the image. Hope that clears things up. Comrade Tux 23:52, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Except one of them, Image:Runescape equipment armours dragon-chikoritapro.gif, got taken down, which would have shown another possible combination.
By the way, the RuneScape articles just got another person obsessed with making the RuneScape articles as barren as possible. Tarikochi 01:33, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Template:RuneScape Wikia Link has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. — bdude the duck 08:40, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Tarikochi, I've just made a comment about the template on the deletion discussion. Please respond to it as it may alter my decision as to whether to delete or keep the article based on what action you're willing to take. --lincalinca 09:50, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RuneScape Images[edit]

As you seem to be a RS image fanatic, please find replacement images for:

as they are too dark. Screenshots with a lighter background with easier to see characters/monsters would be much better.

Also images should not be animated so

None of the reasons provided (the last two not even having reasons) are good enough to justify replacing those images. Tarikochi 15:31, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Well I thought you'd be happy to find better images yourself. It's already on the to do list. Images like this cannot be animated because of the following:
  • they are potentially distracting from the text without giving any additional information on the subject
  • they are bigger in size which in turn uses up bandwidth and takes longer for the page to load for users
  • due to the multiple frames and compression used, image quality is lost
  • it is likely to be violating the fair use policy
Basically all the same reasons why you'll never see animations like these in a game or movie article. So you can replace them, or someone else will, such as myself.--Seriousspender (talk) 15:40, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: your message[edit]

I'll give it some thought. I'm trying to get out of the RS series now, to be honest. I don't need the extra stress it's placing on me (more than an article about a computer game should be able to) at this point in time, unfortunately. It may be better to ask the current contributors. Sorry I took my time responding by the way. I've been on wikibreak due to - in order - christmas, net connection problems, exams and daft timetabling leaving me too tired to edit WP reliably, so I've only been checking in every few days. CaptainVindaloo t c e 20:20, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the consideration. Hope you feel better away from Wikipedia. I know how exactly it could get. Tarikochi 01:11, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Don't get me wrong, I'm not leaving WP. It's just the high traffic/turnover of the RS pages as well as the constant stream of vandals, trolls and POV pushers are getting me down a bit. I'll be moving onto lower-key projects like SWAT3 and Armed and Dangerous (the shooter I ripped my username off when the first three I tried didn't work >_<). Anyway, back to the image issue, I'll try to be as neutral as possible. WP:PUI is the wrong venue, the image is acknowledged to be unfree and has the appropriate tags and rationales. The image serves the purpose of illustrating the point about customisable avatars, as well as usefully illustrating the general appearance of avatars and the game's graphics in general. The rationale could be reinforced to illustrate this point. However, the animation could really do with being shortened and compressed; at 1.67MB it's a little hefty. It'll take about 4 minutes to download over a 56k dialup connection. Maybe just go through one set of gear? Feel free to copy or link this comment to the PUI debate. Hope this helps, CaptainVindaloo t c e 17:20, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I do not have P2P to be able to re-enact it, lol. Thanks for the help though, and good luck on your plans. Tarikochi 00:00, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

I have tagged Image:Runescape_combat-multicombat.gif as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Runescapehd combat-multicombat.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. OhanaUnitedTalk page 01:09, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus on RuneScape image[edit]

Regarding this edit of yours that mentioned a "consensus" having agreed on the inclusion of an animation of seven RuneScape characters kicking each other. Would you mind joining the discussion thread and telling us where this consensus was made? I couldn't find anything obvious in the discussion archives. Thanks. --McGeddon (talk) 14:43, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I don't see how Talk:RuneScape/Archive_27#New_animations.3F the thread you link to supports or even mentions the seven-kicking-players image. Your 2.6Mb spinning-character animation also goes against WP:IUP ("Inline animations should be used sparingly; a static image with a link to the animation is preferred unless the animation has a very small file size.")
Please discuss this on Talk:Runescape if I've misunderstood your reason for including these images. --McGeddon (talk) 11:53, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
