Yes, I actually agree with you about most readers (at least the ones who are ever likely to read about Owen Oyston) wouldn't ever have a clue about what a Baby Bell (or even a Regional Bell Operating company) is; but I also figured that telling them that they are American still doesn't tell the reader anything that substantially affects that lack of understanding. To make much sense of it, I reason that they will still have to look 'Baby Bell' (or 'RBOC') up - and when they do that, then it will be obvious that it is an exclusively US thing.

That is how I reason it; but there is no pride issue for me, so feel free to change it back you don't like ;) Finn (talk) 22:14, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

The changes which he/she made are correct, and add value to the article as a neutral description of a somewhat contentious issue (i.e. was Monmouthshire part of England?) Western Shugden Society

You made substantial edits to the Western Shugden Society page, and also added a template stating that "This article or section is written like an advertisement." I can understand that removing some of the quotes about the demonstrations may help it seem less like an advertisement, but could you give any more guidance about what we could change on the article to make it suitable and remove the tag? Kelsang Pema's letter says, "Between 1996 and 1998 the Western Shugden Society, a loose affiliation of Shugden practitioners from throughout the world, made repeated requests to the Dalai Lama to completely stop these actions of discrimination. They sent many petitions and letters to this end but, giving invalid reasons, he never accepted to stop these actions of discrimination"[2] (see page 202). Regarding the infobox on the WSS page, you mentioned on my talk page that I didn't give reasons for changing it. I apologize for that. The reason I changed it is that the WSS is not an incorporated entity, and so doesn't have a legal non-profit status as far as I am aware. The WP entry on "NPO" says: "A non-profit organization (abbreviated "NPO", also "not-for-profit") is a legally constituted organization ..." I thought that the generic template would be more appropriate for this purpose. Also, there were other problems with the infobox as you'd originally written it. The list of key people was not correct ... it was just a list of the names that were mentioned in the article. It is true that Kelsang Pema has acted as a spokesperson for the organization, but since they "have no leader" it would be misleading to put a name in the infobox. Hi there, I just added a note on Talk:Western Shugden Society about the application of the term "Godwin's Law" to K. Pema's statement. Could you read this and consider it? The Godwin's Law article affirms that this rule can be mis-applied, and does not apply to cases where there is an actual substantial parallel. There are only a limited number of cases that I am aware of where religious groups have been systematically denied use of various public services and generally labelled as traitors, etc. just because of their religious beliefs. The Nazi analogy is the first one that comes to mind, and there seems to be a substantial similarity here. That is definitely not to imply that Shugden practitioners will come to see the same fate, but the similarities still seem relevant. What do you think? Forgive me - I'm new to Wikipedia editing and was not aware of how to use thse Talk pages or the "In use" tag. I'm not clear though why the statements concerning Tibetan chants (which did, in fact, constitute about half of the chanting - I was there throughout the demonstration and can verify this personally, although I understand that this isn't an acceptable WP source!) are any less valid than this statement: "Hundreds of the Dalai Lama supporters shouted "Long live the Dalai Lama"", which afaics is also unsourced.

I'm grateful, actually, to any genuinely neutral editor who can restore some objectivity to this article, but I can't help but feel that a bias is developing in the article now diue to your edits. Perhaps this is necessary, to find a middle ground - as you say, we can make any necessary amendments once you've finished: I believe we all do, in fact, want to provide a factual resource that is balanced, rather than a propaganda piece for either "side", so thank you for your efforts. Tangerines - Help! I wonder if you might arbitrate on something? An unnamed editor (possibly kt66 - the IP address is from Italy) has edited a section regarding the Australian Sangha Association's view of NKT ordination in the "Perception of protests by others within the Buddhist community" section. I removed this because it seems to me irrelevant here, and just another attempt by this guy to further his agenda. Of course, he undid my deletion, so I've removed it again... I wonder if you'd take a look, in the history if he leaves my latest deletion intact, and make a decision? Whilst I feel that it's irrelevant info. on the Western Shugden Society article, I'd be prepared to accept your judgement as a neutral observer and stand by it. Many thanks! Opening section of WSS article

Hi, thanks for your effort on the WSS article. I recognized that the opening section was not neutral and changed it and put my pov at the talk page. That there is a "ban of the Dharmapala etc." is the pov of WSS and this pov is not shared by all. Maybe you can have a look on this. To balance it I added HHDL's view as stated by BBC. Also I added a quote in the past that according to Atisha, the founder of the Kadam tradition, “The training of the Monk is such that of two hundred and fifty-three [rules].” it was removed later but I think it make sense because it supports the ASA pov. I wish not to contribute to the articles, mainly I checked if they are good enough to link them or not, then I recognized these two points. As always, thanks for your clean-up work on Rachel Tucker's page. I am trying to be more careful with my referencing and general style, but it's always good to have your guidance.

Whilst I always appreciate your expereinced Wikipedia hand at wheel, I wasn't sure why you had removed the section I created on Rachel's nomination for a Theatrical Management Award. You normally provide me with fair and legitimate reasons for any edits you make to my additions, and on this occasion you hadn't, so I assumed it had been removed in error. Reverting it back was not to undo any of your edits on Tommy etc..., but simply to include something that I thought had been removed accidentally. The TMA nomination was sourced, and as Rachel is in the company of other nominees like Brenda Blethyn and Brian Conley, I assumed this would be a welcome addition to her Wizard of Oz section.

Ending a discussion and removing a CFD notice

I need a little help -- thanks for letting me know I could ask questions here. On September 30th, User:Otto4711 placed a CFD notice on a category I created - Category:Radio Tales. Otto4711 and I discussed the issue on September 30th, and then Otto4711 didn't post again, and no one else has contributed since. The discussion does not seem resolved, but isn't going anywhere. I posted a WO:30 at this link: Wikipedia:Third opinion, as User:PrinceOfCanada suggested I do, on October 1st. There have been no responses. What should I do next? As an aside, I've been having an e-mail conversation with Dylan Kerr over the last few months (trying to get him a job coaching kids here in the States), and he says his time on loan at 'Pool were "the best three of months of [his] life". He has nothing but praise for Billy Ayre, although he was annoyed he didn't sign him permanently (I explained that Owen Oyston was pretty much pulling the strings by that point). Ayre "battered" him after a game because he whispered something to Dave Bamber.

I fail to see how it is any less relevant to blackpool than many other of the exisiting external links. Vandalism warning levels

Hello, I saw your name when reverting vandalism and I wanted to ask you about when to choose level 1 vs. level 2. I've been using Twinkle and I have been working on the assumption that level 1 warnings are for edits that might have been made by fooling around or for tests, and that level 2 and higher warnings are for when it is obvious that the vandalism (blanking, whatever) is deliberate. Am I right?

I would also like to know if when using Twinkle, the user's talk page automatically pops up, because for me it doesn't and it slows down my response. I hope you don't mind my questions. Thank you. LovesMacs (talk) 00:16, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

It seems we have a discrepancy with Keenan's stats for 1917–18. Your book has him making 34 appearances, while mine has him as being ever-present in all 36 games. North West Counties League Divisional Articles

It's not so much a move, it's just I don't see anything in the Divisional articles that wouldn't be a lot better in the main league article. In fact, is there anything at all in the divisional articles not already present in the main league article? It's a process that's happened with virtually all the other Step 5 & 6 leagues. I read your message with interest. You may note that the dispute arose due to the member in question's persistent erasing of true information even though referenced to a reliable public source. Member refused to justify the rejection of the reference and suppressed the information. My response was to reinstate it, including both the reliable reference and a tabloid article which satisfied his limited and illogical criteria. The 'award' was nothing more than alittle joke playing on the reference to an expression of life confined within wikipedia's guidelines without allowing onself scope to exceed non-exhaustive criteria. It seems the irony was not appreciated, but no hard feelings were intended. West Lancashire derby

Regarding players, do you think we should include players who joined one club on loan from the other? Andrew Lonergan joined 'Pool from P.N.E. on loan in 2003, but I'm unsure whether or not we should just stick to permanent transfers. - Dudesleeper / Talk 14:51, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Blackpool

I live in Blackpool and I would class it as a 'large town'. We are the 4th largest settlement in the NW, we have a higher population than Preston (131,000) and also smaller towns like Blackburn (105,000), Wigan (c.90,000) and Burnley (73,000) are classed as 'large towns'.
