Image deletion

Hello ТимофейЛееСуда. Regarding File:Art sign 1.jpg and File:Art sign 2.jpg. I had forgotten all about those images. They were uploaded for use in a question on the Reference Desk. Since that was nearly four years ago and the question has long been archived and forgotten, I guess it doesn't matter what happens to the images. Thank you for your concern.    → Michael J    08:09, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

ConfirmAccount extension

Hey :). You're being contacted because you are involved in the ACC process, or participated in the original discussion in '08 about the ConfirmAccount extension. This is a note to let you know that we are seeking opinions on switching this extension on, effectively making the ACC process via the Toolserver redundant. You can read all the details here; I would be very grateful if people would indicate how they feel about the idea :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:14, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the invite, but I will not be commenting as I do not have enough experience in the ACC process to formulate a respectable opinion. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 15:01, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Image deletion Kahlil Gibran (Sculptor)

Hello ТимофейЛееСуда. Regarding The Wikipedia page "User talk:Skyphoenix6" has been changed on 18 April 2012 by ТимофейЛееСуда, with the edit summary: Notification: tagging for deletion of File:Vihuela1954Text2.jpg.(TW). These are all of the owners images, we own these images and have allowed public use. Please do not delete. I have added a description to the image. Thank you for your concern.  ;→ SkyPhoenix 6 ⓉⒸ

Are you "kg" who I assume to be Kahlil Gibran (sculptor)? The original uncropped image has a copyright tag on it which means that the image is copyright, do you actually have the rights to release this in the public domain? If you do not have the rights to this image, then you cannot post it on Wikipedia. If you do own the right, or if there is someone you know who does, they can contact the WP:OTRS by sending a email giving permission to use this image, including the appropriate use tag for the image (PD, CC-BY-SA 2.0, etc). The email can be sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Good luck. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 19:46, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Images

The problem with the link from Facebook is that it's too small: 604×403 pixels, while File:London-dreams-Vipul-Man-behind-the-movie-fabriqate.jpg is 640×427 pixels. I don't think there's really any way to get these G12 speedied. Perhaps you could just take them to WP:PUF? The appearance of comparable images on multiple other pages on dates and sizes not too far removed from the ones here isn't conclusive proof, but I'd guess that it's likely enough that a PUF would result in deletion. Who knows; someone at PUF might even find the originals online at a website you've not found yet. Nyttend (talk) 14:40, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

A barnstar for you! & Leaderboard award

The Commons Ambassador Barnstar Transfer to Commons Drive Leaderboard Award
The Multiple Barnstar
Thank you for participating in the January 2012 MTC Drive. The drive was a big success. As a result of the drive thousands of files was transferred and many files was nominated for deletion because of copyright issues or because they were not usable. For your big work transferring files to Commons you are hereby awarded this barnstar. Cloudbound (talk) 20:02, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

And finally... as you finished on the leaderboard for the January 2012 MTC Drive with 406 transfers, you have well and truly earned the Transfer to Commons Drive Leaderboard Barnstar. Thank you for all your efforts. With luck backlog drives will become a thing of the past. Cloudbound (talk) 21:20, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

This person should not be receiving awards for going around deleting things. People who contribute get nothing. People who delete get awards. How this site and project has changed.Aetheling1125 16:19, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Comment

You have targeted a whole load of images I spent a long time creating entirely by myself. You have over zealously targeted them for deletion. I am outraged and disgusted by this Luddite behaviour. I dont know what I have to do to make them accceptable to these self appointed and uncontrolled little policemen. Hand back your Barnstars. Aetheling1125 08:19, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Greetings. First, I believe that I have found the images you are talking about: Here and Here, but as you left me no way to find out, I'm not 100% sure that is everything you are talking about. Also, in the future, please leave messages on my talkpage at the bottom, instead of nested inside my archives box.
I'm sorry that you are upset about your images, but my nominations and comments about them still stand. I encourage you to join the deletion discussion on the pages above. The images are all replaceable by higher quality images and you haven't been targeted. I'm currently working on cleaning up images and just happened by yours. When I looked at the images again, I found that there were even more higher quality images that can replace the ones that you uploaded. The best course of action for you would be to join the discussion at the above-mentioned pages. Have a great day! -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 13:20, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Rather than the rather arrogant and high handed attitude some administrators and their like exhibit within Wikipedia why not help by showing me which images you are talking about? I presume you are an expert on the geography of medieval Wales.Aetheling1125 16:17, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
The discussions for the images you are talking about are already linked on your talk page and just above, but here they are again:

Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2012_April_29#File:Northwales.jpg
Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2012_April_29#File:Northwales1.JPG
Also, I am not an administrator. I also dislike how you are handling this, and saying that I should not have barnstars for something that I contributed to in a completely different manner is disrespectful. Please continue all commentary about your uploaded images at the appropriate discussion places listed above. Please do not leave me messages on my talk page, as your desire to complain instead of communicating appropriately has made you unwelcome here. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 16:44, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Watermark?

I saw that you placed a "watermark" tag on some of my images: File:T-Bird Cage Theatre.jpg. Are you referring to the date on the lower right hand side which tells when I took the picture? Just wanted to know. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:03, 16 June 2012 (UTC).

Yessir. They're very good images, great for the articles that they live in. I just think that they would look better without the date on them. If you disagree feel free to remove the tag and I won't bother anymore of your images. Also, on a side note, thank you for your service to our country and your work on Wikipedia. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 15:34, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
Please see File talk:T-Crystal Palace2.jpg#Watermark? for more response. Remember patience is a virtue. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 16:18, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
  • You are a great contributor and a very wise person. My impatience came about because I was confused as to the "Tag". I was wondering what I did wrong. Since the images could be affected by the removal of the dates, I will leave them as is and proceed to remove the "tags". Please accept the following as a token of my appreciation:
I award you the very rare "No.1" Medal for your hard work on in Wikipedia - well done! Tony the Marine (talk) 20:19, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, but I'm just working on cleaning up the images. Generally speaking, tags are just to notify that the image can be improved by someone with the programs and the skills. If you see that your images are tagged for something other than FFD, XFD or CSD you have nothing to worry about. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 20:41, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, it is. The incomplete category is for when editors place the tag for images to be moved without putting a new name or reason. I think we are on the same page, and honestly I do not see why we could possibly need both categories. Or if there was one super category. My talk page

I would appreciate it if you didn't post templated messages on my talk page. Surely, if you have enough spare time in your life to edit on Wikipedia, you coul spare a minute or two to talk to me like a normal human being. I'm not the only one who finds it disrespectful to post templates on other people's talk pages. When I see your signature at the end of a message, I expect to see something you wrote. Please consider that next time you post on my talk page. Thank you, Feedback 18:01, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

I'm not telling you that it is "mandatory" to avoid templating my page. You can do as you so please. The essay isn't a guideline, I just linked to it so you could see that I'm not the only person who hates being templated. If you're one of the good ones, you would respect my wishes and the ones of the people who agree with that essay. If you simply don't care and want to keep doing it anyway, that's fine. You get to choose how you carry yourself around Wikipedia. By the way, the reason I don't add it to the "rules" is because I've never had the problem. You're one of the very few [other than the bots] who has sent me a templated message. Like I said, a lot of people consider it in bad taste. You should consider it next time you post on other people's talk pages as well. Feedback 19:00, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi there! Thank you for your hard work on the Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center article. I just reviewed the nomination at DYK, and have some comments over there. Peace, groupuscule (talk) 23:04, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

SineBot signing your comments

This has happened to me: When you are signing, the links in your signature don't match the same ones as the account that made the post. This post is from my alt account Ihaveamac-alt, and my main is Ihaveamac. My signature has links to my main, but not my alt, so SineBot signed me a few times. Your signature links to ТимофейЛееСуда while the edit was from THMOPENREECYRA. vandalism

My edit to Dina Manfredini was NOT vandalism. Please read edit summaries before accusing people of it. Besse Cooper died today, and Dina is now the oldest person in the world. Silenceisgod (talk) 22:55, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Per request. Spartaz Humbug! 02:08, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

You can do one-day statistics, but subtracting an average per-day view of two days makes numbers more accurate. For example, The Day of dyk - (Day before + Day After)/2 = Total. Even when an article reaches 5,000 views in one day, the average may affect those numbers. Got it? --George Ho (talk) 00:34, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

With all due respect.

With all due respect, your deletion nominations at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2013 February 23 shows how out of touch with the rules you are. For many of the images you nominated, they are all free, as labelled by the uploader. I won't talk about those with questionable sources, but for those whose uploaders have specifically mentioned that they are released on public domain, please understand that the WP:NFCC rules on non-orphan images and notability only applies to non-free images, not free images. Just as well, there is nothing in the image use policy that says that such rules of the need to be notable and the need to be used in more than one article applies to free images. There is nothing in WP:CSD#Files that calls for the above rules to apply to public domain images as well. This reason is obvious: because free images are allowed to be freely used in the userspace, by users on their own user and talk pages, as and how they like, because they are completely free.

I suggest that you familiarise yourself with the rules of Wikipedia before you start voting, nominating, or even counselling me on what is right and wrong. Optakeover(Talk) 16:37, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

First of all, you absolutely do mean any respect: you checking my contributions to find what else I have done so you can complain is WP:HARRASMENT and completely against WP:AGF. Second off, if you are going to do that simply because you do not like my discussion, actually look a little further into my history. I've nominated and voted on more images successfully than you have made edits on your entire account. I wish I could give you exact numbers, but I know my percentages for being successful are rather high. I've also successfully transferred a good number (more than 500) images from here to WP:Commons so I know a thing or two about copyright and what belongs and what doesn't. Third, please learn to use the "show preview" button, as it took you 7 tries to get out two simple paragraphs of text and you've been doing the same on every discussion. That button is there for a reason, not just for decoration. Last, your discussion is completely flawed. Why are you bringing up WP:CSD for? If I were claiming that there was an issue that falls in that section, I would nominate it as WP:CSD, not WP:FFD or WP:PUF. Also, Wikipedia is all about consensus. I am allowed my opinion in appropriate places, and you obviously are allowed yours. That is what discussion is all about. If you don't like what I do, or how I think, bring it up somewhere important and with some actual diffs of what I've done and what rules I've violated. If you cannot do that, do not try to attack me on my own talk page. Finally, if you continue to follow me around like you did here: Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2013 February 23, and harass me as such, I have absolutely no problem starting the WP:Dispute resolution process. From this point forward, you are no longer welcomed to post on my talk page unless you have official notices to place. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 18:46, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
As a side note, when you say something like "I will certainly say that this is the last comment I'll make for this discussion" usually people do not continue commenting, and saying someone is flat out wrong in a discussion, instead of discussing simply because you do not agree with their opinion is fairly childish. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 18:50, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

Re: My misadventures at FFU

Thank you my friend for correcting those faulty checks of mine! I am very, very new to the File namespace and am zealously learning all the rules as I come up against them. Sadly, trial and error is still the way I learn best - how great that smarter people than I often spot me making a merry mess! I am sorry to make you more work. I hope to become more familiar with procedure and avoid possible mistakes in the future! All the best. Cheers! -The Illusive Man (T.I.M(Contact) 02:30, 1 May 2013 (UTC))

I can understand trial and error just fine. But images is a fun and messy business. I've been in the file space for a few years and I still consistently make mistakes. I recommend looking back to see what others have done. (check the archives) Also, with WP:FFU if the file is approved, you actually have to upload it for them like you would if it were your own image, that's the entire point of the FFU. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 02:43, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello, On Tue, 30th April 2013, I saw that someone approved the file upload, but on 1st May 2013, I see that you have declined the request stating "The license on the Flickr page (where the owner of the photo posted it) is what needed to be changed." Once I have requested the owner to change file's license in Flickr, then again I have to re-request the File For Upload process? Regards. -- Dhurbaba. 8:29 AM, 1st May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for writing and I apologize for myself not explaining fully the situation and another editor improperly closed your request. The editor who closed your request was very eager to help out, but did not understand completely the WP:FFU process. I'm glad you reached out though, if you can get the owner of the photo to change the license to CC-by-SA 2.0 or CC-by 2.0, I would be more than happy to upload the image for you. As it stands with the current copyright, we do not have the right nor the permission to host the image on our servers. Thanks again and happy editing -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 18:15, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. The owner of the photo (http://www.flickr.com/photos/95139912@N02/8670003379/in/photostream) has changed the file's license to CC BY-SA 2.0. Thanks again, Dhurbaba. 18:51, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

I'm wondering...

Hello ТимофейЛееСуда, I'm Kevjonesin. I noticed that you'd flagged File:Polkinghorne.hood1.JPG for deletion. As this comes so soon after I edited the image (I obscured the plate #'s) and removed the {{cleanup}} template I'm led to wonder if it's merely a coincidence or if my interacting with the file somehow made it show up on another list/category which brought it to your attention. I'd found it on a list of images flagged for editing. Anyway, it's of interest to me because I'd prefer, in the future, to avoid editing images that are likely to be deleted soon after. :  } --Kevjonesin (talk) 22:01, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Hey! Very good question. I tagged the image for cleanup nearly a year ago in June 2012 and added it to my watchlist. The image was tagged before the article that it was used in was deleted. Since it was deleted as being non-notable, the image really is useless at this point. When you uploaded the new version, it popped onto my watchlist and I nominated it. I apologize for this. I'll try to check my watchlist real quick to make sure there aren't any other issues. Can I make a suggestion? Maybe only edit images that are currently in use first, then go back and clean up the rest later? Thanks for your work. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 02:36, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
  • "Maybe only edit images that are currently in use...", Yep, that same thought was dawning on me as well. :  } Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Is there a reason why you don't tag the talk page of the uploaded files with {{subst:WPAFCF}}? Armbrust The Homunculus 05:33, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

There is no good reason, save for I did not realize I was missing this step. Thanks for fixing my errors and letting me know. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 14:06, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:James Walter.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:James Walter.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Armbrust The Homunculus 15:20, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading the image. However, Cobb is the woman in the purple shirt. The cropped version you uploaded is of Nina Totenberg, who was leading the panel. Can you please correct this? -208.81.148.195 (talk) 17:40, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

  • That said, Totenberg's article does not have a photo, either, so it would be good to rename the mistaken image to Nina_Totenberg.jpg or something similar and add it to Nina Totenberg. -208.81.148.195 (talk) 18:03, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know. I've re-cropped and the new image is here File:Sue Bell Cobb USDOJ panel.jpg I'm awaiting a Commons file mover to fix the naming (I've requested) since I only have file mover rights here. Sorry for the mix-up. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 21:03, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Hey, not a problem. I appreciate the help with the uploads. -208.81.148.195 (talk) 13:32, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Port Vale FC 2013.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Port Vale FC 2013.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 08:23, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 24

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rick Austin (politician), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Demorest (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The time stamp shows that was clearly an edit conflict! Did you not see that you subsequently deleted MY comment? Should you be warned for that? Keri (talk) 00:13, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
