Refexample[edit]

Hi Sykoskit! Thanks for your edit to Trick or Treat (TV series). However, I think you've missed the purpose of {{Refexample}} a bit. It is intended to apply to mostly "In popular culture" sections or articles where something might be true, but isn't really useful to the reader. The classic example is an "in popular culture" section for wood. An example of the tag being used correctly is at Marilyn Monroe in popular culture—just because she's mentioned in a TV show doesn't mean a reader learns anything from hearing that. A more interesting fact would be "Marilyn Monroe is referenced in television as a canonical portrayal of feminine sexuality: for instance, in [1], [2] and [3]" (with a reliable source titled "The symbolism of Marilyn Monroe in television and film"). A real example of better "in popular culture"-type content is Cultural depictions of spiders.

Anyway, in the article on "Trick or Treat", there is a lengthy section giving a synopsis for each section. Plot summaries and episode tables are an integral part of television articles, and it's appropriate to have this section at the article. The real concern is what's missing: reliable secondary sources, such as reviews of the show, or interviews with Derren Brown about how the show was made. That's because articles on entertainment should primarily be out-of-universe, rather than plot-only summaries. There are tags for this that would be more applicable, like {{All plot}} (if an article is almost entirely a plot summary) and {{Primary sources}} (where there's an overreliance on primary sources—here, on the TV show as a source itself). — Bilorv (talk) 22:52, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
