ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Some Gadget Geek. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 7[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited MI 09, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages RER and RATP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Notice of noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. - The Bushranger One ping only 08:55, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The section is: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#This_can't_be_allowable...
Hi SGG, that AN drama board can get a bit heavy. Some editors are having difficulty with the way your userpage appears due to your custom title. Would you mind adjusting it very slightly (more like the one on your user talk page). You could use this code:
{{DISPLAYTITLE:<small>User:</small><big><big><big><big><code>''{{color|red|Some}} {{color|green|Gadget}} {{color|blue|Geek}}''</code></big></big></big></big>}}.
That is 4 "big"'s instead of 7, as it is interfering with the pagelayout on at least some browsers. Thank you for your consideration. — xaosflux Talk 14:02, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, the WP:AN thread has been shut down - you are welcome to review what was said but are not expected to reply there. — xaosflux Talk 14:44, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Usage of display title[edit]

Hi Some Gadget Geek. As you might have noticed in the section above, there have been some complaints about the usage of DISPLAYTITLE on this talk page. Several people have indicated that it was disruptive to their usage of the user interface of Wikipedia icw their browser or a specific skin. Per WP:SMI, you cannot make changes to interface parts of your userpage, if these are disruptive for other other users. So while the technical means might be out there and while you have more freedom on your user page to play around than in other areas of the encyclopaedia and even while other users might be doing something similar, I still think that these complaints warrant removing this styling from this page. I hope you understand. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 15:57, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I agree completely with the discussion and the decision you made. Besides, there's the same styling in the banner at the top. It doesn't have to be done to the title. Simple pictures are best, after all. ««« SOME GADGET GEEK »»» (talk) 16:09, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
