King Abdullah[edit]

the page in infested with anti jordania edits and biased info.... i tried to contact you to help... what can we do? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Topsecrete (talkcontribs) 18:28, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could you please explain the following revert. Thanks. → AA (talk) — 20:04, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your explanation. The "See also" section is to guide readers to other areas of Wikipedia that have not already been mentioned (via wikilinks) in the article and the reader may not be aware of. It would be impractical to list every link that has been used in an article. Hope that explains it a bit better. Welcome to Wikipedia and if you have any queries or want to know more about policies and guidelines, feel free to ask on my talk page. Many thanks. → AA (talk) — 21:09, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
thanx i hope to be an effective wikipedian but lets finish university exams first ;p - Smart_Viral 04:38, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problems - look forward to your participation. Good luck with your exams! → AA (talk) — 09:07, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wiki teams[edit]

don't understand! c article Muhammad a team of Jewish that lead the contributions for example Sefringle [1], c last edit by Proabivouac [2] "Muhammad . . . in which he recognized the validity of three Meccan". my friend X-Force try to correct the article then he get blocked "This user is a suspected sock puppet of His excellency, and has been blocked indefinitely." what u called this. <<Smart_Viral 17:57, 23 August 2007 (UTC)>>[reply]

Hi Smart Viral. Look, Wikipedia is not a battleground. So the user who you are thinking is your friend is just a vandal. Someone who comes and removes edits w/o discussing is a WP:VANDAL. This is the problem. Wikipedia hurts but not only you. Many people from around the world feel the same (including the Vatican, including the Republicans, including Africans, including Jews, including Sikhs, including Chinese, including animals, etc...) Editing here consists of consensus. Consensus can only be reached through discussions. You have to get good arguments in order for you to get your edit approved. Why were you not blocked? Because you could discuss, not him.
P.S.Consensus can change but not this way. Consensus can change via discussions. Removing comments and images from the articles is plain vandalism. Please click on this image . -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 18:29, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
thanx ... i have to learn more about wikipeda. <<Smart_Viral 18:59, 23 August 2007 (UTC)>>[reply]
Well said. I am still learning myself. Everybody. The important thing you have to learn about first is WP:TROLL. Just never follow the trolls whoever may be. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 19:50, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A point of semantics, removing article content is not the definition of vandalism. From Wikipedia:Vandalism: "Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia." Emphasis mine. What you're talking about may very well be vandalism, but don't come to think that any removal of text or images is vandalism, because that's wrong. BigNate37(T) 20:04, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the vandalism performed upon your talk page[edit]

First, thank you for helping fight vandalism on Wikipedia. Second, I notice your talk page was recently vandalized (and quickly reverted by another user). If you notice further vandalism on your talk page that you think is related and/or by the same user, please advise me. Since I blocked the offending user, it is certainly within my scope to reblock the user (or extend the block if he is found to be abusing multiple accounts). —C.Fred (talk) 22:20, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Islam[edit]

regarding your recent change to Islam, "Islam" is the masdar of the fourth S-L-M variant, aslama- also related to istislam and as-silm. see this for more information. ITAQALLAH 00:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

clarification:
  1. islam = salam = peace(noun) = give peace(verb).
  2. The Islam = asalam (sometimes written as Al-salam) = the peace
  3. no exist of the word aslama in arabic but if u mean aslam its an another spelling of the word islam
  4. i'am arabian & i know what i speak!
thank you. <<Smart_Viral 00:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)>>[reply]
i'm no expert, but you said the verb aslama does not exist- please refer to the above link and the other reliable citations given which show otherwise. if you have any reliable sources verifying what you say, please do provide them. ITAQALLAH 00:20, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
its said "The manifesting of humility or submission and outward conforming with law of God" & here
  1. as language:peace
  2. as common:get muslim:submission and outward conforming with law of God <<Smart_Viral 00:40, 29 August 2007 (UTC)>>[reply]
the link shows that al-islam means submission to God, and is derived from aslama, which itself means to submit. ITAQALLAH 00:44, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yes this is what i mean submission to God not by enemies of islam as somebody say. thanx<<Smart_Viral 00:54, 29 August 2007 (UTC)>>[reply]

I see you are now trying to make the above changes on the Religion of Peace page. Don't the above arguments still count? However, I agree with you that it is important that the Religion of peace page makes it clear that the "submission" means "submission of Muslims to God" rather than "submission of infidels to Muslims". I think this is a good point that should be added to the article. You can argue that this submission to God will bring an inner peace as a consequence, but not that the word Islam is a synonym for peace. Perhaps we can arrange a sentence we are both happy with on one another's talk pages or on the talk page of Religion of peace. I certainly would not want to start a revert war like seems to be going on with Raphael1 vs the rest of the world. Mike Young 12:19, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I seem to have got an Edit conflict with someone (two saves to Wikipedia at the same time). I hope I have not deleted anything, look at the last couple of edits made and check nothing has been accidently deleted. Mike Young 12:19, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thanks Mike Young, the word Islam (إسلام) is extremely related to the word Salam(سلام)(=peace) by its root. and the additional letter (إ) change the meaning to give peace (إسلام) which mean islam. but we can merge the 2 definitions into one as this "submission and outward conforming with law of God to make peace" see this dictionary. <<Smart_Viral 13:14, 29 August 2007 (UTC)>>[reply]

I've put a new suggestion on the Religion of peace talk page... What do you think? Mike Young 14:25, 29 August 2007 (UTC) Yet another definition in. I think this will be a marked improvement if you agree. Mike Young 19:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application[edit]

Dear Smart Viral,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Daniel 10:28, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you an email about your edit to the Religion of Peace article. Check it hasn't ended up in your spam filter !!!! Mike Young 19:48, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Sorry, I can understand how those edits could have looken like vandalism. Unfortunately, the article on the Jewish Defense League was composed largely of composed of WP:SOAPboxing by various third parties. This has now been fixed. -- 67.98.206.2 18:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection[edit]

You're welcome. :) The semi-protection will expire in a week, though that should be (hopefully) enough time to calm the vandals down. Acalamari 17:49, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you.

You may want to take this to WP:AIV for a better response to the situation. --wL<speak·check> 20:23, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for folowing the jordan page[edit]

the jordan page has had many vandilism attacks ans its just crazy. any how thank yo very much for keeping its integity. any how the king abdullah page gets alot of vandilism too. and is filled with attacks and filled with bias negative and in many cases poorly documented information. what do you think we can do about that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Topsecrete (talkcontribs) 19:45, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome :) .Unfortunately we can't avoid attacks, but you can face it. Read this please. Smart_Viral (talk) 20:04, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jordan[edit]

I removed the lengthy list of external links because WP:External links recommends that links should be restricted to the most relevant and helpful. A lack of external links, or a small number of external links is not by itself a reason to add external links. Also there were several links listed under Notes, which is inappropriate because it gives the impression that they are actual citations. The links I kept are the official ones and appropriate ones like dmoz, wikitravel etc. Green Giant (talk) 18:34, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

This edit is not vandalism. This is at best a content dispute, extensively covered in the Discussion page of this article. Please keep in mind that labeling other's edits vandalism when you disagree with them is offensive. Thanks. -- lucasbfr talk 13:39, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agree; you're more than welcome to participate on the talk page, in the pursuit of consensus via Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, but it's pretty clear that the edit in question does not meet the definition of simple and obvious vandalism set forward in WP:VAND. There are plenty of less charged words you can (and should feel free to) use. Beyond that, thank you for your time and attention in this matter. – Luna Santin (talk) 12:03, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Same here. Now that you've made your excuse for calling it vandalism at AN/I, can you explain the edit? Arrow740 (talk) 23:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We talked about this here, and the problem was resolved. What new? Smart_Viral (talk) 08:42, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amman infobox[edit]

Please note that Template:Infobox City is just a redirect to Template:Infobox Settlement. Green Giant (talk) 00:53, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The same template ... but City sounds better because that there is a redirection! :-) Smart_Viral (talk) 01:03, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

City might sound better but a redirect is a redirect - having Infobox Settlement doesn't make Amman into anything less than a city. It is just a generic infobox. Green Giant (talk) 02:12, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

king abdullah page[edit]

hi, problems with user[edit]

i posted that i will be removing some of the entries for bieng pure speculation and opinion with the backing from this report of the DIA http://www.why-war.com/files/currentthreats_jacoby.pdf (the part about Jordanian stability bieng due to the king). i said i will do that and posted it in discussion for about a week i then went on and did my changes, user Grandia01 keeps editing my entries with no regards to discussion, and refuses to discuss first, edit second. i do not want to be in an edit war, and i would hope you get involved to end this —Preceding unsigned comment added by Topsecrete (talkcontribs) 00:16, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AnaJordan[edit]

You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

The article AnaJordan has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:13, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:AnaJordan logo.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:AnaJordan logo.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

File permission problem with File:Toujan-f.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Toujan-f.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:56, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Amman Workshop 11-12 April 2012[edit]

This research project (which I am part of) is looking for participants for a workshop in Amman in April. The workshop is about representation of and by the Middle East and North Africa, in various language Wikipedias, and looking at barriers to contribution and ways to overcome them

In particular we are interested in those who edit from or about the Middle East, either extensively, or who have been discouraged from editing more due to on-wiki issues.

Full details at http://www.zerogeography.net/2012/02/open-invitation-to-workshop-in-amman.html.

I'm currently editing and creating contents for this article. The problem is no one else is contributing to this seemingly important article. And now nobody participates in its talk page. You understand that only one user's contribution can't create a good article, though I'm trying hard to give it a good look. Now I need some directions about what items and informations should be included here, additionally, how this article should be. I look forward to your cooperation and reply. --AsceticRosé talk 15:25, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
