Orphan listings

It's not a current or actively-maintained list, so the short answer is "nothing". You certainly don't have anything to worry about. IIRC the original purposes was related to orphan-tagging: there's some discussion here, if you're stil curious. Alai (talk) 03:34, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

The speedy-deletion of that page has been overturned on procedural grounds. That article has been previously discussed in an XfD discussion. As such, it is not eligible for speedy-deletion. If you think that the article deserves deletion (a point on which I have no strong opinion), it must be renominated for deletion through the AFD process.

If you do decide to nominate the article, be sure to note the lack of improvement since the last deletion discussion. That's a relevant factor and might help the community reach a clearer decision this time. By the way, thanks for dropping me the notice. Rossami (talk) 14:28, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P7, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I Have posted the following messagbe to User_talk:Mikeblas
I have no objection of the loss of a single article either way as an editor of one of the many articles you've randomly placed the tag upon. However I do have an opinion, and from the looks of your user talk page your no stranger to that. The opinion is as follows. A Merge and redirect campaign may have been more useful as a whole and would create less cleanup in the long run. Many of the articles you have tagged are interlinked to other articles, and what happens when an editor randomly clicks a previously deleted article red link, he gets that "your attempting to edit a deleted article" guilt trip message. This is discouraging to editors IMHO. This also re-creates articles which may not be as good as the original once was. I would also like to point out that unlike cell phones which have a user life of say 6 months to a year, cameras will always remind someone of a link to their past. Cameras are often passed along, collected or resold. In today's ever "green" market of recycle & reuse, articles such as the sony series you recently have decided are advertisements or un-notable are often the younger artists only resource to make better usage or buying decisions, Yes that would be advertising if the company still sold the item. Users often forget why they bought a specific model, or why they still have it, Wikipedia as a resource was once there to remind them, much like the way Cameras (unlike cell phones) Capture memories and the past.Slysplace | talk 03:31, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned Article

Hello,

I have added quite a few links to articles you have marked "This article is orphaned as few or no other articles link to it." such as Jean-Jacques Millant, Joseph Alfred Lamy & Nicolas Maline. Can you possibly take down those tags? Thank you in advanceMilliot (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 21:58, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Copied to my talk page for consistency
When you introduce links within the encyclopedia to resolve an articles "orphaned status" and you feel you have linked it sufficiently to and from other articles, you can remove the {{orphan}} tag while editing. The tag need not be removed by the editor who placed it there. Slysplace | talk 00:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC) LET ME Clarify this. Introducing links to an article is not simply linking it's existing content. If an article is only linked to by editorial or user pages when you click the What links here on the left of the page under tool box it is an orphan. Other articles Must link to the article in question. So when you have significantly linked other articles to THE orphan THEN you can remove the tag. Slysplace | talk 00:16, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

wiki for woodworkers

Hello Slysplace ... my name is Jason Rogers I am attempting to get a new wiki off the ground ... it's at wikiWOOD Looking at your numerous contributions here, you may be interested.

Please forgive if this seems spammy. We do have a lot to do and could use experienced wiki users w/ an interest in woodworking.

Try square

I have reverted your mass of redirects to the incorrect name for the tool. It is a try square, not a tri. There's no three involved. Please do not undo this. Thank you. ThuranX (talk) 08:17, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
