"Stephen Goodfellow" deleted as vanity item?

Hi,

I was wondering if I might change your mind about the deletion of "Stephen Goodfellow" it being listed as a vanity page. I have at times been accused of being vain, but it's not altogether unwarranted. If you check out the record of the article, you will see that I did not place myself on Wikipedia, I merely discovered it and added to it. A cursory search of the Web may convince you that the item is not wholly hot air or, as Jabo puts it, "bollocks". If you need corroborating individuals to verify my achievements, I will be glad to produce them.

Some examples: Stephen Goodfellow, Micropointillism: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22Stephen+Goodfellow%22+micropointillism&btnG=Search

Music: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22Stephen+Goodfellow%22+music&btnG=Search

Physics http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Stephen+Goodfellow%22+physics&hl=en&lr=&start=40&sa=N

Finally, being somewhat new to Wikipedia, I find that I needed to place signature and verification. I will do so in the future.

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Stephen Goodfellow I can be reached at esteban@goodfelloweb.com (please place 'wikipedia' in the subject.

  • Response: I was not the only one who voted for this deletion, and I was not even the nominator. If you feel this deletion was incorrect, please bring it up on Wikipedia:Deletion review rather than individual talk pages. That way the community at large can participate in the discussion. That said, it will be very difficult for the community to accept an article you write about yourself, for reasons outlined in Wikipedia:Autobiography. The bar for verifiability, notability and neutral point of view wlll tend to be much higher for such an article. Segv11 (talk/contribs) 01:57, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

All done, it's reposted content. :P - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 09:13, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Stephen Goodfellow acknowledgement

Hi,

Thanks for your response. To reiterate, I did not make the first posting about said article, only added to it.

Anyway - onward and upward. Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Stephen

You voted to cleanup, can you be more specific. Do you want to prune the list or remove it? Thanks.Voice of AllT|@|ESP 19:15, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

I'd like you to take another look at this list. It has been shortened considerably (at least at this moment) and I have tried to make the criteria clearer. Sometimes good lists go bad but that doesn't mean we have to delete them. Gazpacho 05:33, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

The Hacker Test

What do you think of the test itself? Timothy Clemans 07:57, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

  • It's good fun, even though it's dated. I probably "took" this test about 15 years ago. It might be fun to take it again just to see how I score. :) I don't know if it is of any use to WIkipedia (or Wikibooks for that matter), but I think a link to it from Hacker might help explain the Hacker culture of the time. user boxes

This user studied computability at university, and all he got was this lousy halting problem. Hilarious :) Quarl (talk) 2006-01-13 09:19Z

  • Thanks! You're welcome to copy it, of course. But I don't think it should go into Template: space given that it's a joke, and given the recent rash of userbox deletions. Segv11 (talk/contribs) 09:32, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I'm writing to you, becouse I've found you deleted a page about Product Based Planner from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_Based_Planner) due to copyright problems. I'm from P2ware Ltd, and the page on Wikipedia is the same as on http://www.p2ware.com/PBP/ becouse we just copied it. We wanted to put info about our product on Wikipedia and we decided that the text on our page is good for it. Is it possible to put it back on Wikipedia? If you have any more questions please contact me at k.urbanski@p2ware.com.

Regards, Krzysztof Urbański

  • You should comment on the article's Talk Page, or on WP:CP. Even without the copyright issue, chances are the article would not survive AfD, because most voters would consider it advertising. Segv11 (talk/contribs) 21:54, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

I was in the process of doing same, already reverted my mistake, etc.  ;-) Daniel Quinlan 07:45, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for merging Two-phase commit

I proposed the merge and then forgot about it. Very good to see that someone's put the hard work in of making the merge happen - many (belated) thanks! — ciphergoth 10:22, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
