Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [1] MrOllie (talk) 19:03, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hand warmers[edit]

Hi @Seanmhougan:, I noticed the editing going on at Hand warmers; can I add a couple of things: (1) In writing to @MrOllie: you referred to yourself as "we". Wikipedia accounts are strictly individual; if more than one of you is sharing a wikipedia account, you should stop at once, and set up individual accounts. (2) If you work for a company that makes beaver hand-warmers, you have a conflict of interest. This means that even if the material you add to the Hand Warmer page is balanced and well-written, it will probably get reverted. The correct things to do are the following: First, declare your conflict of interest; the safest thing is to declare it both on your user-page and on the Talk page of Hand-warmers. Second: write a section in the Talk-page of Hand-warmers giving the text you would like to add to the article. Another, neutral editor will then be able to review this text, and paste it into the article for you, if they consider it appropriate. In this way you won't be accused of acting improperly, and your text won't get reverted the moment it's written. Whatever you do, don't just keep replacing your text. You'll only get banned for revert-warring and being commercial. Best wishes! Elemimele (talk) 20:09, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

______

Thank you, @Elemimele:! I appreciate the guidance as I am new to contributing to Wikipedia. It is in fact my personal account. I refer to "we" because there are others who are very keen to have the product category added. Great idea on adding it to the talk page. Would it be okay if I tagged you in it to review as a neutral editor?

Hi Seanmhougan, unfortunately you have got yourself blocked (see below), which you'll have to get addressed first. There are instructions in the block text on what you should do. If you manage to get unblocked, you can happily tag me to look at any text you produce, but because WP is a consensus encyclopaedia, none of us can guarantee anything. Basically, assuming that I think what you've written is okay, the text will still only stay in the article if there is a consensus of editors who consider it neutral and good. Best wishes Elemimele (talk) 21:29, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wonderful. Thank you, @Elemimele:. I will follow steps to be "unblocked" when I have time later this week. Appreciate the help!
