ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:42, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism?[edit]

Hello, I am a new Wikipedia editor and I had made some changes to the Ohio University page. More specifically I changed that the proctorville center was acquired by a different entity, but you marked it as vandalism, and replaced it with a rather sloppily written version with wrong information. How come?

Kind Regards,

Friedbird

Well, welcome to editing! You'll hopefully find editing to be more of a need on a case-by-case basis rather than a constant habit (as some users honestly seem to live through this site doing to subjects often foreign to them). Regarding your edit: It seems that when you were editing about Proctorville, you accidentally reverted several edits which were made to the page besides your Proctorville change. You probably did this accidentally either by using the old source code in a Word doc, and then pasting it all to make a new edit; or by making the edit while the other changes were being made, and then saving your edit, which would have reverted all the other new edits; or by keeping the edit page open for an extended time. If any of these was the case, in order to make the change you would like to make, please simply make the change again and ensure no reversions happen along with it. Thank you so much for your contributions to Wikipedia, and best wishes in your new editing journeys! Sapienna (talk) 04:59, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To save you time, I just made your edit for you. Thanks again. Sapienna (talk) 05:14, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for fixing that for me, I did not realize that I made those changes and I apologize for doing so. I also appreciate you helping me understand this mistake and how to avoid it in the future.
