I've made a few contributions to wikipedia, my first being Mass balance, which reveals one of my quests: To fight against the evil Implicit Closed System Assumption of most textbooks ;o) which has confused many students over the years. If you're a student: My advice to you is to never use Wikipedia in your reference list (If you're one of my students, you will not get a pass and have to remake your assignment) for two reasons:

1) There are many things in wikipedia (especially in chemistry) which is simply wrong.

2) The good thing with Wikipedia is that it is always changing, but in a reference list you should typically refer to things that do not change.

Since wikipedia is always changing and since I should be doing other stuff than writing this right now, I will only occasionally make contributions to wikipedia and I hope the more wiki-skilled folks are a bit patient with my limited skills in writing nice looking wiki-stuff

Mass balance[edit]

Hi,

I went to look at mass balance and was a little suprised to see what was, in my opinion, an unfortunate state of affairs for something which is arguably a cornerstone of modern chemical & process engineering, not to mention the impact in fluid flow, reactive systems and goodness knows what else. I have begun to try to see what I can do with the article and would appreciate comments as to the direction in which I have been taking it. I must admit i am not finished but hope that early input will help the article somewhat. Thanks User A1 16:06, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:26, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
