Welcome; I noticed that you just joined; please say hello

Welcome[edit]

Hi, SME2009. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  15:07, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Speedy deletion nomination of SME-EF[edit]

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. COI[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Society of Manufacturing Engineers, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:06, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Industry Focus Areas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Inappropriate linking[edit]

Wikipedia is not a "linkfarm". The single link to the SME's homepage that already exists on the Society of Manufacturing Engineers page is sufficient to lead interested users to deeper information. Links to every focus group and community within the SME are not necessary. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:09, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia, because it appears to be mainly intended or used for promotional purposes of a company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

In addition, accounts are for individuals only, not for companies or groups or other collective editing, and your username should reflect this.

Wikipedia is not a promotion website; this kind of activity is considered spam on Wikipedia, and forbidden by policies, and usernames that appear to be promotional also violate our username policy. Editing on Wikipedia is not intended to be used to promote anyone, or anything, and its use for that purpose will result in blocking of the account involved.

If you feel that there has been a mistake, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} on your user talk page or contacting the administrator who has blocked you. Your reason should include a clear response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy. Please check that your new username has not already been taken here. Cirt (talk) 21:35, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Technical Community Network[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Technical Community Network, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

article which contains no content whatsoever, or consists only of external links

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. {{Unblock on hold|Cirt|I am requesting to have my block removed. I understand that my edits appear biased to an organazation and I will be a neutral editor in the future. I am here because I want to contribute information and help make pages the best they can be. I will do this in a neutral tone. I also understand that my username seems biased as well. As a new user I made the mistake of not reading the username policies before creating my name. I would like to change it to kmm09. I will not make these same mistakes again. Thank you.}}

Placing this on hold while I contact the blocking administrator. Thank you for your patience. PeterSymonds (talk) 23:43, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comment from admin

Under the terms discussed above and with the understanding that the user's edits will conform with site policies including WP:NPOV, I won't object if another administrator wishes to unblock. Cirt (talk) 06:12, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am wondering what that status of my block is. Is there a wait timeframe to be expected before I know the results? Thank you.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Sorry for the delay with this. Please review our conflict of interest guideline and consider changing your username to something less "biased". Happy editing.
