Proof?[edit]

On the Landover Baptist Discussion page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Landover_Baptist_Church), you requested evidence for Christianity. I suggest you read the book "Evidence for Christianity" by Josh McDowell. Stcochran16 (talk) 15:35, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While early English history is not my speciality, I'd recommend wikifying, expanding and adding references, then asking for help at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history and the Wikipedia:Peer Review. Hi Rick[edit]

Regarding your recent edit on the Battle of Grunwald, "Grunwaldu", is the genetive case of Grunwald in the Polish Language. They actually refer to it as "Bitwa pod Grunwaldem", to be even more grammatically correct. So for consistency in English, I will correct it by removing it (Grunwaldu), altogether. Best Wishes, p.s., the different names of the battle in different languages, is pretty well covered in the beginning of the article. Dr. Dan 19:10, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problemo! BTW, never got a chance to correct it. It was jumped on immediately by some hungry sharks. They unfortunately, never bother to explain their RVs and other actions to people. I thought as a courtesy to a new and young contributor to Wikipedia, that I should do so. Good Luck! Dr. Dan 19:55, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, three and a half months, is not "new". Sorry. Just for the record, I'm on your side. That's why I explained my correction, rather than just edited it. I appreciate your imput. Hope we can become friends. Dr. Dan 20:15, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New stubs[edit]

Heh, these guys are going to be after you when they find out how many new small stub categories you've created ;-) Kirill Lokshin 02:29, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Technically, new stub types are only supposed to be made when there's a certain minimum number of stubs (~50?) that need them. I doubt there will be any big problem, but keep in mind that things like {{Finland-battle-stub}} aren't going to be very useful, since there's only a handful of articles that would ever use them; clumping them into somewhat bigger categories ({{Scandinavian-battle-stub}}, maybe?) might make them easier to find. Kirill Lokshin 02:34, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. You may also want to ask Alai about this; I think he's gone through Category:Battle stubs recently, so he might have a better idea of which countries have enough to warrant their own categories. Kirill Lokshin 02:39, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I've seen problems like that too. You've been doing some great work with the stubs; I just wanted to make sure we didn't wind up with a lot of almost-empty categories that we'd need to maintain ;-) Kirill Lokshin 02:44, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have counts of how these are "double-stubbed" at present; there's a few that were borderline, in the 40-60 range. (I can give you the blow-by-blow if you wish.) But these all look undersized to me. Can I suggest perhaps you keep these templates, to facilitate current sorting and possible future splitting, but merge the categories back into their various parents (by recategorising the templates). Alai 02:56, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note in particular that there's a (recently created) {{UK-battle-stub}} already; that'd be the obvious place to merge the Scottish and English ones. Alai 03:03, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Grand. When they creep back up to closer to 60, then you can propose them, then 'snap back' the category on the template. BTW, I've already proposed, but not created, {{Russia-battle-stub}}, for which there were exactly 60 double-stubbed candidates, last time I checked... Alai 03:14, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why not do the Russians now, and the Polish ones when they hit 60? It's no longer especially that urgent to split the category, as it's comfortably less thn 800 stubs now -- or was, last time I checked, at least! Alai 17:18, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I created the Russia-battle stub-type. I've a list of the articles I found that'd fit, here. Alai 07:30, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just used the same icon as with the "battle-stub" template. Obviously something suggestive of both "Russia" and "battle" would be ideal. Alai 19:50, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do I have "anything on the Scandanavian battle stub idea" in what sense? You mean a count of whether they'd be over 60? Alai 01:13, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this new format will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new groups and programs within the project that they may wish to participate in.

Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome, and will help us improve the newsletter in the coming months.

Hi, you reverted my edit concerning the capitalization of headings. Actually, WP:MS, says the following:

Capitalize the first letter only of the first word and of any proper nouns in a heading, and leave all of the other letters in lowercase.

Unspecified source for Image:Alphonse Mucha.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Alphonse Mucha.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Thuresson 21:15, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You uploaded this image claiming that its creator had released all copyright to it. It is a painting by Angus McBride and is found in The Hussite Wars 1419-36 by Stephen Turnbull (Osprey Books). Image copyright problem with Image:Cossacks II.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cossacks II.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Military history of the peoples of the British Islands. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Military history of the peoples of the British Islands. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
