Welcome![edit]

August 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Kangra Valley Railway, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Please do not revert my edits without giving good reason; the text you restored is blatantly copyright. Qwerfjkltalk 12:54, 25 August 2021 (UTC).[reply]

Hello User:Qwerfjkl. can you elaborate on what do you mean by the edit not being constructive and what wikipedia guidelines I have violated. The information I added on the page is taken from UNESCO website and that information to UNESCO is provided by Government of India which is a public domain. So, anyone can access and use this information. So, unless you can sue me in the court, don't try to revert my changes. talk

ANI[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Legal threats from User:Ron.Tyler1995. Thank you. — DaxServer (talk to me) 14:17, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DaxServer. I have not threatened anybody for any legal action. I just dared him/her to take legal action against me, if he/she has any solid grounds. User:Qwerfjkl has been reverting the changes made by me. I only used the information on UNESCO website(which is a public information openly available to all without any copyright restriction) as the source, and I have even used my own words. But still that guy/girl User:Qwerfjkl is reverting back my changes. What to do. DaxServer, Please help User talk:Ron.Tyler1995
I agree that your post, as worded, did not constitute a legal threat. Please be aware though that any discussion of anyone taking legal action with regard to editing here is not appropriate - please don't say things like that again. WP:NLT is worth reading.
If you are in a content dispute with another editor, do not edit war, even if you are convinced you are correct on the matter of sourcing and content - discuss it on the talk page, and if you cannot come to agreement, you can explore dispute resolution channels. Ah - OK, looking a bit closer, I see this is about potential violation of our copyright policies? (Please read WP:COPYVIO). The website the content is taken from seems to be this one; I am not seeing a clear statement anywhere on that page that the content is in the public domain, or that it has been released under a license that would be compatible with our policies. Girth Summit (blether) 14:54, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User talk:Girth Summit, Please see that French infobox at the top right of this one. Here, if you know french, it clearly mentions that such information is submitted to UNESCO on 15/04/2014 and the entity who submitted this information is Permanent delegation of India. So, this information/content/material is not owned by UNESCO and is certainly not worth copyrighting because, this information/ content is not any monetary benefir to anyone. User talk:Ron.Tyler1995
That is not enough to satisfy our policies, I'm afraid. We would need a clear, explicit statement from them saying that the content can be copied freely, which I'm not seeing. You could use it as a source of information and write your own content based upon it, which is normally how we write our articles - but be wary of the risks of WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASING, which can be difficult to avoid when only using a single source. Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:New ZDM3 Locomotive on trial run at Palampur.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:New ZDM3 Locomotive on trial run at Palampur.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 17:45, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:New ZDM3 Locomotive on trial run at Palampur.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/himachal/new-engine-on-pathankot-30690. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
