2014 in the United States[edit]

Hi Robert, I just reverted this edit[1] you made to 2014 in the United States. The nav boxes, external links, wikicommons, categories are all included at the bottom of the article. I'm thinking you added them again to the middle of article by mistake, but if I'm missing something here and there is a reason for your edit, then just revert me, but please clarify why. Since we have always helped each other out in the past, I didn't want to revert your edit without touching base to explain my edit. By the way, good work getting all those football and basketball articles created. Cmr08 (talk) 06:42, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

NBA Hall of Famers[edit]

I see you've been making changes to team templates such as this edit to add a HOF entry. Can you discuss this at WT:NBA to get others opinions before making further changes? I'm concerned with a navigation template not really linking to a new article, just a section of an already linked article. If there is consensus for a HOF link, should it not be grouped under the existing "Franchise" category instead of a standalone category. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 17:44, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bagumba,

I added the Hall of Famers link because I saw that some templates had them and some didn't. I only wanted to get all of them the same. I should have discussed it though a consensus. Robert4565 (talk) 17:46, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No problem with you being bold. However, discussing mass changes offers the security that a lot of work won't need to be redone—or worse—reverted. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 17:49, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'll revert my edits on the templates;it'll be better to revert my edits on the templates I did until a consensus is made (Just in case a disagreement is made). Robert4565 (talk) 17:57, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

RfCs[edit]

Purely my opinion, but discussions such as Template_talk:Cleveland_Cavaliers#Rivalry are probably more effectively discussed at WT:NBA than starting a RfC. Or at least advertise the RfC to the WikiProject. RfCs are better for generic discussions that are independent of the domain i.e. some issue that really is independent of the NBA that a non-basketball person could offer an opinion. RfCs may also be a good alternative if you are satisfied with the response at the article or WikiProject level. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 00:41, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Future Hall of Famers[edit]

Hi Robert, replying to the post[2] you left on the Super Bowl XX article talk page, here on your talk page as you requested. You stated on the talk page, "I think the future Hall of Famers part of this article (and other articles if they have them) should be put down. Wikipedia should wait for official announcements before posting information like that." I really don't understand where you are coming from on this, because it's just a list of players from the game who are now in the Hall of Fame. What official announcement do you think we should wait for? There already in the Hall of Fame, plus this seems to be a standard part of every Super Bowl article. If you do believe that it should still be removed, you should probably bring this up where it can be seen by editors who have specific interests in football articles, rather than the talk page of this one Super Bowl article. It was just by chance that I saw the post, most editors probably would never have spotted your message. Cmr08 (talk) 04:52, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I figured that was the reason. The word "future" could cause some confusion, but there's really no need to apologize for asking questions. That's how we figure things out. You can ask me 100 questions on my talk page or ask for my advice on anything and it would not be a problem. Cmr08 (talk) 07:37, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hatnotes for Roberts Kelley[edit]

Hallo, The rules say that there shouldn't be a hatnote at a page such as Robert E. Kelley to point to Robert Kelley (disambiguation), since no-one will accidentally get to that page when they want one of the Kelleys with a different initial. I'm not bothered, but someone else might delete your hatnotes, so it's not really worth your time making them. See WP:HATNOTE. The hatnote at Bob Kelley is fine and should have been there all along! NFL Draft list[edit]

Hi Robert, I wanted to check with you before I removed an entry from List of New Mexico State Aggies in the NFL Draft. Bob Gaiters is listed twice and checking his article it shows that his first entry is for the AFL Draft. Is that supposed to be there? I know the article is about NFL Draft picks, but wanted to make sure it was a mistake before I removed it. The player Bob Jackson (American football) listed directly above him was also an AFL Draft pick but only NFL Draft pick is listed for him, so that combined with the article title stating NFL, I was thinking this might have been added by mistake. Cmr08 (talk) 06:08, 18 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I know what the AFL was, I just didn't know if you were listing both NFL and AFL Draft picks in the NFL Draft pick article. I seen in the reference where Gaiters was listed twice, odd thing is the name directly above him was also an AFL Draft pick in 1962 but the reference only lists his NFL pick. Cmr08 (talk) 03:36, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Robert, I think you're right about listing once since the title is NFL Draft. I find it confusing with two listings because I really don't know much about football from that era, so when I see a team name, I wouldn't know for sure which picks were from the AFL. Also, when I see NFL in the title, I would assume that the article is about the NFL, as I'm sure other readers would as well. If you wanted to keep both listings, one option could be to make a note as to which picks are AFL picks, but then again, with the title being NFL, that too could raise concerns that the info isn't about the subject. I know you created a lot of the team draft picks articles, but there are articles of the same type that were created by other editors, so it might be worth checking them out to see how the editors handled this issue in those articles. Cmr08 (talk) 03:03, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

List of Alabama State Hornets in the NFL Draft[edit]

Hi Robert, I just removed Robbie Jones (linebacker) from the List of Alabama State Hornets in the NFL Draft because he didn't play for them. His own article states University of Alabama, and he is listed in List of Alabama Crimson Tide players in the NFL Draft with the same draft data that was in the Alabama State article, and also in 1983 NFL Draft, so I checked the reference you provided and it doesn't list him as a Alabama State draft, but does list him for University of Alabama. An honest mistake, but I wanted to explain just incase you came across the edit and wondered why it was removed. Cmr08 (talk) 01:13, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's no problem at all, I enjoy going through these kinds of articles trying to fix red-links and such. By the way, I only caught that Robbie Jones error by fluke, when I noticed he was missing from the category page Cmr08 (talk) 02:42, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. This AfD discussion was created without the usual template, and was never transcluded on to a daily log page, so it didn't get seen by the folks who monitor these things.
