Talk:Gibraltar in mediation[edit]

Take a look at This as you are cited as an involved party, the editor taking it there should have informed you but has omitted doing so. --Gibnews (talk) 23:30, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. RedCoat10talk 10:03, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations[edit]

I don't think that asking for a personal opinion is CANVASsing. I also think that posting messages to two editors who have been involved in related discussions is not "indiscriminate cross-posting". I would think that CANVASsing is related to indiscriminately urging many users to participate in a discussion, isn't it? On the other hand, I would say that repeated false accusations can amount to Harassment.

Are you sure you want to enter this level of discussion? It will only make us angrier, it will consume time, and all for nothing. Come on, let's look for a consensus solution for the sake of the Gibraltar article.--Imalbornoz (talk) 09:28, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Red Hat[edit]

You may care to see the comments at the bottom of my talk page. I've just found that Red Hat listed a Wikiquette alert against me but failed to notify me. Having politely asked to explain that, noting he'd been warned before, the reply is basically sod off. Given the personal attacks today I intend to issue a wikiquette alert later, would you have any objection if I listed your good self in the report? Regards, Justin talk 12:20, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all. Warning someone for 'harassment' and 'hounding' other users is quite a serious accusation. I asked him (politely) to reconsider his remarks but a reply hasn't been forthcoming. I'd let the dust settle and if he still refuses to cooperate, issue a Wikietiquette alert. I also note that he's described editors at Talk:Gibraltar as a 'cabal' which, I suspect, includes you amongst other contributors. Best, RedCoat10talk 12:46, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY! --Gibmetal 77talk 07:51, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish Wikipedia[edit]

Don't bother mate, they don't care about NPOV. I've been falsely accused of breaking 3RR, blocked for 48 hrs, my user talk page edit locked so that I can't request an unblock. They'll block you on the flimsiest pretext, its a farce. It makes a mockery of what wikipedia is supposed to be about. Justin talk 22:39, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was also reverted without rationale. Oh well... c'est la vie. On a more positive note, I'm happy to hear that Ecemaml has had the courtesy of unblocking you and at least there's a tag now. Best, RedCoat10talk 14:06, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Admins in eswiki are notoriously trigger-happy when compared to the admins here, the whole admin culture is different. I'm sorry that you weren't aware of this in time to prevent your block :( --Enric Naval (talk) 18:19, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gibraltar National Day[edit]

Hi there, would you mind helping me choose which of these hooks would be better suited for the DYK section?

... that Gibraltar National Day is celebrated every 10 September by releasing 30,000 red and white balloons representing the people of Gibraltar, who also dress in their national colours?
... that Gibraltar National Day commemorates Gibraltar's first sovereignty referendum of 1967, in which Gibraltarian voters rejected to pass under Spanish sovereignty, but remain British and self-governing?

Any other suggestions are very welcome. Thanks! Gibmetal 77talk 11:38, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'd say something along the lines of the first one, with a couple of minor changes perhaps: ... that Gibraltar's National Day is celebrated every 10 September by releasing 30,000 red and white balloons which represent the people of Gibraltar? Hope that helps.. RedCoat10talk 14:25, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Brilliant, thanks! By the way, what do you think of the article? It could probably do with some copy editing... Gibmetal 77talk 20:42, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good me RedCoat10talk 17:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Future projects[edit]

Hi there. As you may have noticed, I've been compiling a list of possible articles to create. Would you like to give one of them a go? --Gibmetal 77talk 22:13, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! I'll have a look and see what I can do. I've been a little busy as of late, though. Best, RedCoat10talk 21:55, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I saw you were around yesterday and I thought you might be interested if you find the time... It's nice to see you here, even if sporadically! --Gibmetal 77talk 22:46, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary[edit]

Hi RedCoat10, I assume you refer to Help:Edit summary. Provided that it's a good practice and that I always provide an edit summary for editions that might lead to any dispute (for instance, I haven't provided any in Elections in Gibraltar as they were innocuous) I'm satisfied of my adherence to it (anyway, I know that all my editions are reviewed, regardless of the edit summary :-)). Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 22:00, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're supposed to leave an edit summary whether the edit in question is innocuous or not. I suspect the reason why all your edits are reviewed is precisely because you don't leave an edit summary and it's impossible to know whether you are, for instance, correcting a typo or overhauling a contentious article. Leaving a short summary doesn't hurt and makes life a lot easier for all of us. Thanks and Merry Christmas, RedCoat10talk 14:34, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not. I'm not supposed to leave any edit summary as this is a mere good practice and not a policy. Of course that I see your point and in order to ease your revision of my editions (since I might "overhaul a contentious article" and I wish such a malicious behaviour is detected as soon as possible) I'll leave a summary. Best regards (and also merry Christmas for you; hope the weather in the coast is better than in the center of the Iberian Peninsula) --Ecemaml (talk) 13:27, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IP[edit]

Thanks for the revert. It is just WorldFacts or Henrywinklestein or one of that lot trying to cause problems. Good to see they are following my edits with such glee, I'll have to go do some more mundane edits just to really entertain them (I hope they enjoy my typo correction of the word Badgers!) --Narson ~ Talk 14:49, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion in my talk page?[edit]

Why did you revert a message in my talk page?[1] --Imalbornoz (talk) 22:20, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because it was vandalism. RedCoat10talk 22:23, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Afd on Daniel S. Razón[edit]

Hi, as a previous contributor to the Daniel S. Razón article, it may interest you to know that it is currently being nominated for deletion due to unnotability. You can find the Afd on this page Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Daniel_S._Razón. Thank you and Happy New Year! – Shannon Rose Talk 18:40, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Montis Insignia Calpe

Yes, it is the motto of the coat of arms, but it is also the motto of Gibraltar. Nulli Expugnabilis Hosti is the motto of the RGR as you probably know. It also appears on the seal of the colony which is a colonial imposition made by Whitehall in the Empire days. Not something we'd like to see being used too much! Check out the Govt's own website: http://www.gibraltar.gov.gi/national-symbols and read ALL of it, I think it makes it quite clear what the motto is!

Image[edit]

Hi RedCoat10. I find your interpretation of WP:NFCC#8 sensible. But IMHO, it would apply to every logo that is included in any article, since in every single case, "the article would be perfectly understandable without use of the image". I'd feel more comfortable is a proper deletion process is run. Could you open it, please? Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 22:59, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK. RedCoat10talk 23:15, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RfC: Self-government[edit]

Talk:Gibraltar#RfC:_Self-government Seeing as no one thought to invite you. Thanks for the barnstar. ;-) Justin talk 12:30, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads-up. RedCoat10 (talk) 13:15, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a proposal to wrap it up, take a look and cast your vote depending on what you think. There is also a discussion about the motto which needs some input from you. --Gibnews (talk) 22:17, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures[edit]

Hi RedCoat. While collaborating with Gibmetal in the biography of T.J. Finlayson a question on whether images from the Imperial War Museum can be uploaded to commons arose. I'm personally skeptical about it, unless information about exact authorship is available and such an author happens to belong to a UK Government agency (therefore, crown copyright would apply). I've arisen a question in commons. As it applies to two images you uploaded to here and were subsequently transferred to commons, you could possible add your opinion. Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 22:13, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How about uploading that 1880s copy of the Gibraltar Guardian you have to Commons? --Gibmetal 77talk 15:26, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ARBCOM[edit]

Take a look at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests#Gibraltar I think it needs some input from another Gibraltarian editor. --Gibnews (talk) 12:14, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
