Rebskii thanks for joining wikiproject dinosaurs - the next cab off the rank is Triceratops, which requires considerably more work than dippy I'm afraid. On the collaboration page there is a vote for which article everyone would get stuck into next. Hi RebSkii!
The template thingy you made looks really neat. I like how it summarises everything that's happening that's been happening lately. As Diplodocus has just reached Featured Article status, that part will need updating. Still, something like this could be really useful. Where do you think you'd like to put it? Malaysian medals[edit]

Hi Rebskii, thanks for contacting me. I'm not the world's leading expert in Malaysian success at the Asian Games, but having had a quick look over the net, I'd go with the Olympic Council of Asia website. I've seen a more references for two medals than I have for three. As long as you add a citation to the source you're using, I don't think you can go wrong. Hope that helps. Hi Rebskii! Thanks for your note. In my opinion, you should be bold. Remove the sentences, or better yet, modify them so they comply with Wikipedia's MOS and NPOV policy. Explain why you made the changes on the talk page, but only if you think these changes may be controversial. They don't seem controversial to me. Hi RebSkii!

The issues you have raised at Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates/Triceratops have, as far as I can tell, been addressed or fixed (depending on the objection). If you have time, please take another look. Thanks for your comments. Best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 16:06, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RebSkii!
What's wrong with "more erect horns"? I had toyed with the idea of changing the sentence to "His reasoning was that males had horns which were taller and more erect", but then that leaves the sentence like: "His reasoning was that males had horns which were taller and more erect and larger skulls, and females had smaller skulls with shorter, forward-facing horns." which seems awkward to me. Another option is "His reasoning was that males had larger skulls and horns which were taller and more erect, and females had smaller skulls with shorter, forward-facing horns." I'll switch it to whichever one you prefer. Any suggestions here? :) Firsfron of Ronchester 03:19, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey RebSkii,
Thanks for your note, as always. "More erect" seems ok, as it's used in this AAAS paper, in this Scientific American article, in this science abstract, as part of this science abstract, etc. "Less erect" also appears in this scientific paper, this Science News article, this paper, etc, etc. A google search for "less erect"+"science" gets over 9000 hits for the term. Unless I'm missing something, "less erect" is a valid usage. Firsfron of Ronchester 01:12, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
i appreciate your effort citing evidences to prove that my statements are misleading. i believe i'm the one missing something, since i stated that there is no such thing as "less erect". now, i'm objecting to the use of the term: erect. because if it can be more erect, it has to have some kind of a flaccid state. okay, my nose is erect, (it has a bone) but it can never be flaccid, if you get what i mean (so it can never be less erect or more erect it can only be broken :) ). i'm also objecting to the way this article's nomination was made. it is a part of a collaboration, it was peer reviewed, but, it has no good article status (which should have polished it). cheers! --RebSkii 16:35, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi RebSkii,
Thanks for your note. Articles which are Featured do not first have to have been Good Articles. The only requirements are listed at Wikipedia:Featured article criteria. I don't want to continue the discussion on "more/less erect", as I've included multiple links above which indicate it's a valid usage. If you can think of better terminology, feel free to update the page, as I trust your judgement. Best wishes and happy editing, Firsfron of Ronchester 16:53, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What about "horns in a more erect position"? That sounds a little bit better, but I thought I'd suggest it anyway... :) Spawn Man 22:54, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Aiba logo.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aiba logo.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Orry the pitcher.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Orry the pitcher.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:08, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Getting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games[edit]

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175[edit]

Dear Rebskii,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 14, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

The article Philippines at the 1951 Asian Games has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Encyclopedic information duplicated in other articles, almost entirely unsourced, having difficulty finding sources for this specific article's scope

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Invitation to the African Destubathon[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest[edit]

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
