Nivia Sports[edit]

Hello, I wanted to let you know that I have changed a few of your recent edits to Nivia Sports. I appreciate that you care about the topic and are trying to improve the article. However, in many cases your changes do not conform to the generally accepted Wikipedia style. For instance, only the first iteration of a word or phrase in an article should be linked. Unnecessary capitalization should be avoided, such as in phrases like "Sports Equipment." This is a common noun and does not need capitalization. Unnecessary bold text is also to be avoided, as are "&" and "etc."

"As a rule of thumb editors should only link the term's first occurrence in the text of the article." Repeated links to the same word are not necessary, and, generally, neither is adding links to articles which don't yet exist (red links). Thanks. Wedging content before references[edit]

Hi there, re: this edit, please don't wedge content in front of existing references. This is confusing and makes it seem like the content you added is supported by the reference that followed it, which is not the case. References belong after the content they support. Also, since the content you added was unsourced, it was removed. I'd be very careful about the edits you make to that article, because that article already looks like a giant promotional piece. February 2018[edit]

Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Bharat Ke Veer. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Diffs: [1] "Grate cause" (or I assume you mean "great cause"), "hard earn money for the cause", [2] "Civilans' devotion was observed remarkable." [3] "the noble cause" [4] "more patriotic", etc. All of this stuff is subjective and only serves to promote the subject. You need to be able to distinguish between subjective and objective content. False ratings[edit]

Bharat Ke Veer is not is not of top importance to WikiProject India. How would you even be in a position to make the determination, with a scant 211 edits to your credit? It is also not of top importance to the Military History WikiProject. What community guidelines were you following when you made this determination? And what compelled you to rate it Featured Article status when it's laden with grammatical errors? You clearly have no idea what you were doing, as it's not even C-class yet. This sort of thing really smells like promotion. I don't know what your personal connection to Bharat Ke Veer is, but you'd better start dialing back the marketing, because you're starting to make really weird mistakes that could result in the article being deleted. Project Tiger Writing Contest[edit]

In 2017 – 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India Chapter (WMIN) and user groups from India, are piloting a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program will (a) support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and (b) sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

Phase (a) has been completed, during which active contributors were awarded laptops and internet stipends. Phase (b) will be a contest in which editors will come together and develop a writing contest focused on content gaps. Each month three individual prizes will be awarded to each community based on their contribution for the month. The prizes worth 3,000 INR, 2000 INR, and 1,000 INR, will be awarded to the top contributors for each month. The contest started at March 1, 2018, 0:00, and will end at May 31, 2018, 23:59 (IST). April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.
