And why is it my entry is STILL FLAGGED?

Moments later I decided to go back in and check the entry again - only to find someone had changed it AGAIN, using my real name, etc...

Why is it that everyone can edit someone else's entry?

Is there any way other people can be prevented from editing other people's entries?

There are exceptional circumstances when a page will be locked, see Wikipedia:Protection policy.

However, I trut what I entered this time will hopefully correct the problem, but who's to say someone won;t come back in and re-edit my work all over again, rendering it useless?

What Josh said is about right. Anyone can edit your entry, and they usually have good reason to do so. There's no reason not to have your name on the page. Andre (talk) July 1, 2005 04:32 (UTC)

Please also see the page, Talk:Romath, where editors can discuss matters concerning the article. If there are particular points in the article which you believe are erroneous that is a good place to bring them up. Also, the article isn't "yours". It's Wikipedia's biography of a person named Elaine Matthews/Romath. Everybody here wants to work towards an article which fairly summarizes, with a neutral point of view, the verifiable information available about Matthews/Romath. Internet privacy: Naturally no one here wants you to be harmed. But if you have been stalked for several years by someone, presumably that person already knows your name. It has been posted by you in a number of places and is even now on your own webpage.[1][2][3] I don't see how repeating this already public information on Wikipedia could affect you. Please don't edit Romath

Hi

Just a note to say that when (as appears to be the case here) a user has an article in the main namespace, we normally recommend that that user does not edit that article. By all means add suggestions on the talk page, but editing the article itself is generally considered bad form. This is because it is difficult to be objective about oneself, and yet objectivity is one of any encyclopaedia's aims. Kind regards, jguk 3 July 2005 21:45 (UTC)
