EMU: Sherzer Hall v Sherzer Observatory

They're two different things. Sherzer Hall is the building (a classroom building), while Sherzer Observatory is the observatory which was originally on Pierce Hall and is now on top of Sherzer Hall. I mention this because your recent edits to the Sherzer Observatory article ([1]) seem to conflate the two. cmadler (talk) 23:40, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Maybe the article shoud be renamed as "Sherzer Hall". NRHP Infoboxes

Hey after your comment at Template talk:Infobox NRHP, I looked at Sherzer Hall as well as a few other articles you've edited. It appears as if you are using the Michigan HSO identification number for the |refnum= parameter in the NRHP infobox. This parameter is reserved especially for the NRIS reference number given in the NPS Focus database (more information here). It also appears that you are using several different fields incorrectly. I just edited Eastern Michigan University Historic District to fix the infobox, and I will fix Sherzer Hall in a minute. Maybe it would be helpful to look over the documentation of the NRHP infobox to better understand what exactly its parameters are used for. There is no need to copy in 927349839048 blank parameters.. just use the ones you need. There is actually a tool located here that can be used to search for any site listed on the NRHP, which will return a pre-fabricated (though incomplete) NRHP infobox you can use as a starting point in an article. If you have any more questions about NRHP listings, feel free to browse the NRHP project's style guide or respond here. Personally, I find that disruptive, but I suppose adding a strike-through line to one of your edits — no matter how disruptive — probably won't solve anything either and probably does not conform to WP policy/guidelines. Please review WP:NFCC. You recently added a nonfree image to Template:Presidents of Baldwin Wallace University and placed an NFCC rationale on the relevant image page. I have some serious doubts

that R S Gerganoff was the architect of Walton Phelps Sellers and Whatever. When I click on the reference given I can not get there. I have no problem being wring, if it can be referenced. On the other hand, does it seem likely that in 1966 a 79 year old architect would design buildings built in 1966 and 1968 and then die that same year (1966)? Any thing is possible, but . . . . .......... Gerganoff had done no work at EMU for a decade while Swanson & Co. had more or less taken over his place as the EMU house architects. So why go back to an old guy like RS? I'm 1,500 miles away (give or take) but I need more answers. If you want to ask, "Am I my EMU's keeper?" please go ahead. I have no one else to discuss this sort of thing with, but perhaps discussing it with no one is better than badgering you? Your call. I think you make some really good points. I do think when someone designs a building it can be years before it's built or breaks ground. It's possible because he designed so many buildings EMU wanted to continue to work with him into his old age. Let me check if there are any other sources to verify, I was surprised to see how many buildings he designed. On another note, I welcome chatting about EMU pages. I've been the only person really creating/expanding the articles so it would be nice to have some others join in. The photo for photo of Jones/Goddard did not show up at that link, do you have any other links to the image? Jones, Goddard, Brown, Munson, King and Goodison Hall are all the same design in the building because they were built in the same style. The buildings were shaped like giant "U" shapes facing each other. I only know this because I went to grad school there. Pwojdacz (talk) 02:52, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

I was wondering if you were in Ypsilanti. I first got there as an undergrad in 1968 and have done a lot of Gerganoff research. I think that the wikipedia article on him is mostly mine. I interviewed his nephew Zack who told me that RS was sort of pissed of at EMU because they took one design and then basically repeated it, but didn't pay him very well for the repetitions. They might have done something similar with those other four. The link I sent you, which works on my computer, was to the EMU site http://www.emich.edu/library/about/archives/campusbuilding.php?building_id=24 for Goddard and the caption of the photo is I think "Goddard/Jones", but the pictures is of the three towers.
