Welcome from the WikiChemists

Hi, element 84! Just wanted to say thanks for your sterling work on the inorganic compounds by element list. That's been a pet project of mine for a long time - about a year now, but as you can see it's pretty time consuming! I have usually worked on it when I'm away from home and I just have nothing but a Strem or Aldrich catalogue with me! Unfortunately I have been very busy lately, with little time to devote to it. You have really done an excellent job of expanding it, thanks!

I wanted to mention, be sure to look in on us at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemicals where we coordinate activities on compounds, principally through our worklist of 380 compounds. Uranium trioxide

Hi, Polonium I am DV8 2XL, I edit a great deal in nuclear matters. I am involved in a dispute with another user that has gone to ArbCom (you can read about it here: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration#Depleted Uranium and related articles) While I don't think you want to get involved directly in this mess, I will ask you to look at the topic uranium trioxide particularly the section on UO3 gas. This section was put in there to support the contention of one user (the defendant in the ArbCom case) that this uranium gas is drifting about the mid east poisoning people, and that it is caused by depleted uranium munitions impacting against hard targets. He has listed a number of sources for this contention, but as he has no background in chemistry or physics, he is misinterpreting the conclusions of those studies. I cannot defend the integrity of the UO3 article by myself so I am asking if you would look at it and use your own judgment, then delete that section away. You will not be alone there will be several that will join in. I know this sounds like a strange request coming out of nowhere, but if we don't get some other rational voices on this issue this sort of nonsense will continue unabated. --DV8 2XL 23:22, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi, you have misread the WP:NPOV policy. It is the articles in the mainspace that should be in the Neutral Point of View, not signed comments of other users. redirect syntax

I just fixed http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wood_preservative&redirect=no Please fix any other incorrect redirects (to sections instead of articles) you may have made. BTW, tt would have been a good idea to provide an edit summary so that it'd be easy to find all other possible incorrect redirects ofyours. Wikipedia:Redirect Please note that you can redirect only to articles, not sections in them; although the syntax allows them, they don't work:

Everything after the redirect line will be blanked when you save the page. Any text on the same line as the redirect will stay, but will not be visible unless someone edits the page.

To go back and edit your redirect after it's working, add &redirect=no to the end of the URL for your redirect:

Be careful when adding categories to templates

Hi Polonium. You accidentally created a bug in the 'sub' and 'sup' templates when you added categories to them. As well as adding categories, you added a line feed, and this broke the wiki formatting in some cases. I fixed 'sub', and Phil Boswell (talk · contribs) has fixed 'sup'. If you've added categories to any other templates, then you might want to check those for the same problem. Regards, --Heron 19:19, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Template:Group

I know its not usually correct to take a speedy tag off something, but instead to add a hangon tag, but the one you put on Template:Group put over 200 articles into CAT:CSD. It is obviously an unneccesary template, but it may be better to take it to TfD where you can get it subst'd first before its deleted. Also, whatever you add to the template, you might want to put <noinclude></noinclude> around it so it is not transcluded onto all the pages that use the template. Timrem 01:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Actually that closure was also reverted by admins like Kelly Martin, Freakofnurture, and Shanel. Anyway, the page has now been turned into a disambiguation page so that the closure has been cancelled anyway. Polonium 15:37, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi there! Thank you for voting on my recent request for adminship, which did not succeed by a vote of 3/14/3. Not to worry, though; I am far from disappointed. The vast majority of the votes, even those in opposition, were quite positive. To be honest, I was not expecting it to succeed, and nominated myself on a bold spur-of-the-moment decision. Apparently, I'm not quite as experienced as I thought I was--I was sure I registered in February rather than April--but never fear! License tagging for Image:DMPS.PNG

Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

I did put a tag on it, but on the {{PD-ineligible}} template I accidentally put in two normal brackets instead of two curly brackets. The template therefore did not work. I have fixed the template, so it has the copyright tag now. Polonium 01:03, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Template:Sig

I deleted this template because it has been rejected by the community (see previous TFD). Another problem with the template is its location; as a previously used (and still linked) template, it alters various users' signatures on older pages. Ral315 (talk) 02:48, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
