Vandal Patrol[edit]

Hi!

I saw your attempt to get 212.219.250.35 blocked. I have to say I agree with you on this one. I suspect that some admins do not realize how rampant vandalism has become. Given the rules it's actually quite hard to do something. You have to catch somebody, give a warning, catch him again, and all that within 24 hours. Somebody who vandalizes once a day would never be blocked.

Given that, in my experience, given that you stick to this simple rule, will block an ip that you report. (Tough when you do get somebody blocked, the blocking time vary wildly, from 25 minutes, to 6 month. There is no apparent relation between the offense or history and the blocking time. But that's a different story.)

Anyhow, I just wanted to say, don't let this discourage you and continue with patrolling. (By the way, I would have used the test3ip template for situations like this, it looks a bit friendlier, but has the same effect. After test3ip I continue to apply for blocking just the same. I reserve test4 for extreme cases.)

Thanks for the kind words. I came back to discover that the same IP had vandalized more pages (surprise! surprise!) after I got frustrated and left a sour comment at WP:AIV. I went back to WP:AIV and made another attempt to get a block, and it worked; the IP is blocked for a month.
