Welcome to Wikipedia from the Anatomy Wikiproject![edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia from Wikiproject Anatomy! We're a group of editors who strive to improve the quality of anatomy articles here on Wikipedia. One of our members has noticed that you are involved in editing anatomy articles; it's great to have a new interested editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing wikipedia articles are:

  • Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on the WikiProkect Anatomy talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
  • You will make a big difference to the quality of information by adding reliable sources. Sourcing anatomy articles is essential and makes a big difference to the quality of articles. And, while you're at it, why not use a book to source information, which can source multiple articles at once!
  • We try and use a standard way of arranging the content in each article. That layout is here. These headings let us have a standard way of presenting the information in anatomical articles, indicate what information may have been forgotten, and save angst when trying to decide how to organise an article. That said, this might not suit every article. If in doubt, be bold!
  • Lastly, why not try and strive to create a good article! Anatomical articles are often small in scope, have available sources, and only a limited amount of research available that is readily presentable!

Feel free to contact us on the WikiProkect Anatomy talk page if you have any problems, or wish to join us. I wish you all the best on your wiki-voyages!--LT910001 (talk) 17:23, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cocktail party personality moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Cocktail party personality, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi - just to expand a bit beyond the automated notice above. You didn't cite any sources at all in that article; even if you had, it looked like a dictionary definition - we need more discussion of the subject than just a definition, even for a stub. I had a look for sources to see if it could be a valid article, but pretty much everything I found was a passing mention in sources about Williams syndrome - a redirect to that target article might be viable. Cheers Girth Summit (blether) 15:46, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

there was no button to make a 'stub' page. Everyone should have proceeded with a citation instead of the display of mindless terror that Wiki somehow forgot a very obvious and well citable page

I'm afraid I don't really understand what you mean by 'mindless terror'. Do you know of any reliable sources that actually discuss the concept of a 'cocktail party personality'? As I said, I had a quick look, but only found mentions of the concept in articles about Williams syndrome, briefly saying that people who have that syndrome often exhibit a cocktail party personality, but not going into any depth about what that actually means. For us to host an article about a concept, that concept needs to have been discussed in some depth by reliable sources, in order that we have something draw upon to put the article together. In our in-house jargon, this concept is known as 'notability'. If you think that such sources exist, by all means add them to the draft and republish it. someone who knows how to do a medical citation could anchor the page. I would be starting that from scratch, so are there any volunteers?

August 2021[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to List of Futurama characters, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 18:53, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the rubber stamp. Is there someway to determine - in between you guys entering entire South Park episodes verbatim - the difference between "original research" and "canon"? That which is immediately accessible to anyone viewing the source material? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phlip Plumlee (talkcontribs)

Canon is saying that Elzar has four arms. Original research is saying "like many alien chefs in science fiction". Cheers. DonIago (talk) 17:10, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
