Request for moving an article

I am going to move History of Tabaristan to Tabaristan. I can't do it unless an admin help me. Could you please move this page and then redirect History of Tabaristan to the main article (Tabaristan). FYI, Tabaristan is the hostorical name of the Northern parts of Iran (Caspian Sea region).--Larno (talk) 20:24, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

What tool you use to fight vandls? Huggle? If I want to use Huggle how it works. Do I have to set up off wiki?--Freewayguy What's up? 02:18, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:DunstanGroup.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:DunstanGroup.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Problem with a user...

I see that your an admin and I'm looking for help. I don't have an extensive amount of time to read through everything at Wikipedia and how to settle disputes. I'm wondering, can you help me out, to speed the process?

Mike_Doughney[1] has warned me and I'm one response away from losing my editing privileges.

The issue is on his user page, if you look at the history[2], you can see all the details.

On his page, his has religious zealots berating him, condemning him to hell and all this other bs. I'm a person of faith and I think that stuff is totally uncalled for. He warned me because I deleted those horrible comments (just the snippet of the offense) and now has me on 'last warning' before removing my editing privileges. I'm afraid to modify my response, because he might ban me, or prevent me from editing.

How do I deal with this guy? I looked at the list of admins[3] and it showed he isn't one but this is still an issue and I'm totally ignorant about it and looking for help to solve this misunderstanding. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Monkey225 (talkcontribs) 03:31, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

  • Sorry but I'm not in the position to help with disputes at the moment (I'm just too short on time :( ). Just to let you know, a final warning does not mean you will lose your editing privileges. Warning templates are strictly used to advise a user if they have possibly violated a policy or abused their editing privileges. I haven't had the time to look at the edits in question that caused the dispute so I cannot say if it was a valid warning or not. Hope you were able to find some resolution with this matter.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:08, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Nice lookin' user page

The Excellent Userpage Award
I just stumbled upon your userpage. And I found it nice and clean. Cheers :-) RavichandarMy coffee shop 14:41, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

FYI

On 22 April this year you blocked IP 205.213.108.30 for six months. Counting on my fingers, it seems that block should have lasted until (about) 22 October. The IP has made two edits, one 22 October and one today -- both vandalism. One very minor (trying to get caught?) and one of the Eeeeeeeeeuuuuuwwwww type on a Redirect page. I've warned about both on 205.213.108.30's Talk.

Even if it is a well-known university, the next block should be for a year or forever, IMO. And sooner rather than later. Thanks. - Hordaland (talk) 19:47, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

  • It is rarely acceptable to issue an indefinitely block IP addresses. All that needs to be done is increase the time blocked if they continue to vandalize (such as a year like you suggested). Unfortunately I have been very short on time, so the IP's vandalism is quite stale at this point and a block would not be warranted. Sometimes letting these types of "school kid" vandals get bored does the trick just as well as a 6 month to 1 year block.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:08, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism

Dear Persian Poet Gal, I was recommended to ask you about This Page by User:Iridescent. He told me he is not an expert in policy and practice. What do you think of the page? Nice page

Hello, I clicked on your page after reverting an edit on Mythology (yours was the last good edit), and you have a very nice page! Would you mind if I copied parts of it for redesigning my page in the future? Thank you, LovesMacs (talk) 22:37, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello, thank you very much! I will have to figure out how things work, because I don't want to make an exact copy of your page (for starters, I don't have any significant contributions yet). I think it's a great idea to have links to help pages. Thanks again! LovesMacs (talk) 16:11, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Edit wars and 3RR

"You appear to be involved in an edit war". You're so right. The other warrior has requested a full block on the article, and I've supported him (now is that cooperation, or what?). I've also asked him to leave the article at a neutral version, pre-war, for this purpose. He's a new editor (I think), and I hope we can talk him into a more cooperative frame of mind through the article's talk page. Thanks for your input. PiCo (talk) 16:20, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank-you for blocking the page. I had worked hard and did a lot of leg work at the library to come up with reliable sources, and they were just being deleted outright. It was pretty frustrating. Thank-you. I will now try and take a sigh of relief :) Berg Drop a Line ޗ pls 17:42, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

No problem, glad things are being worked out in a sensible manner on the talk page.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 16:32, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back!

Wow, haven't seen you in awhile. Welcome back. =) Okay, it's been a few days since you've been back, but this is the first time I saw you on Recent Changes. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:31, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Still at it. Still a doofus. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:52, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Sorry that I didn't get to that! I had to step away from the computer. It seems they had their bit of childish fun for tonight. Zanny unblock reasons are always funny to read.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 07:26, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Well done. --John (talk) 06:59, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Watchlist tool?

Firstly, nice userpage! Secondly, is there anyway that while I am on an article, I can see how many people have "watched" the article, so I can tell if it is worth adding to my watchlist or not? Have you heard of a tool that computes the number of vandalisms per day to the number of watchers? This way we could try to make all the ratios similar, and we would have a greater wikipedia. Hopefully you understand what I am asking, since I don't think I expressed it very well. ;-) Thanks so much! NightFalcon90909 (talk) 15:46, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

You've got mail

I don't know if you check the email-account in which your Wikipedia-Email lands regularly, therefore a short heads up. Kind regards, Lennert B (talk) 16:26, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
