Welcome![edit]

Hello, Olami1997, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Farmworker[edit]

Hi there, the information you added at Farmworker looked legit, and thank you for including sources. However, I have removed your addition for the time being, because it requires some cleanup. Although other editors can always step in to fix minor errors, it's best for everyone that you get in the habit of making your contributions as correct as possible from the start. When every sentence needs tweaking, it's really the contributing editor's responsibility to fix those problems.

The issues that need addressing are:

  • Broken formatting on citations. Please brush up on how to use ref tags.
  • Vague date wording. "The past 15 years" needs to be made more specific.
  • Weird verbs. "In conclusion to a 2013 investigation a federal jury has awarded $17.4 million to five migrant women who say they were raped" - "has awarded" should be "awarded," and "say" should be "said," as all of this is simply past tense information. There are several sentences like this, including one which refers to July 2018 as if it were in the future. Please try to standardize your verb tense.
  • Punctuation after citations; this is never done.

These are all minor issues and your additions to the article are appreciated, so please don't be discouraged! If you have any questions, just let me know. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 18:46, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your fixing some of the issues I mentioned, and I have fixed the remainder. (You can see my changes here.) It's particularly important that you learn how to properly use ref tags. Please read WP:REFB or at least WP:REFBPLAIN. I'm not trying be nitpick; broken formatting can make sections of an article unreadable, and when that happens, many editors will simply remove your changes. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 19:36, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notes[edit]

Hi, I have some notes:

  • Make sure that the work isn't undersourced and that you're formatting the sourcing properly - it's better to give a full citation as opposed to a raw URL.
  • Be careful of phrasing/tone. For example, the statement "This brings up the issues" can be seen as a little casual.

The sourcing is the more major of the two at the moment - the sourcing you have is fine, but it's always good to have a bit more sourcing to help show a depth of coverage, especially if you are using primary sources. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:40, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
