AfD nomination of Nico McLane[edit]

I have nominated Nico McLane, an article that you created, for deletion. Speedy deletion of Nico McLane[edit]

A tag has been placed on Nico McLane, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. I am an individual and I am not trying to harvest or spam anyone, if my post was not neutral enough, I could easily make it more neutral - I know how passionate you guys all are about maintaining neutrality but maybe this was a bit hasty, I followed a similar formula as a colleague of mine who is also a technical writer - can't you guys give me a chance?? When you get a warning, it's a good idea to stop and try to understand what the objection is to what you're doing. That way, you can avoid the inevitable block that comes from ignoring warnings. In this case, the problem is that you were creating an article about a person who does not appear to meet the notability criteria. Since that person is yourself, you are also using the encyclopedia for self-promotion. And since you won't stop, and even now seem to want merely to go back to doing the same thing, a block is necessary. But if you ever become interested in what we're doing at Wikipedia- writing an encyclopedia- and want to help us as a personal hobby unrelated to your own business interests, feel free to ask again, with specific details about what kinds of editing you'd like to do. Sorry Sandstein, I think that promise is good enough. What he wrote about himself was that he was a freelance technical writer, so he obviously has the potential to be a good contributor, so long as he doesn't violate WP:COI. Nico: I've unblocked you, contingent on your promise. Just to avoid future trouble, you should read Wikipedia:Conflicts of interest -- basically, not writing about yourself is an important step, but you should also avoid citing your own work, as this too is a conflict of interest. Thank you, Mango juice! First, I am a she not a he. I will not abuse this privilege, and I am 100% committed to contributing good, solid, fact based articles in the areas of broadcast and streaming media. Can someone give me a little guidance -- Where in the Wiki do I put my credentials so that when I do make relevant contributions, fellow editors can site that and there is criteria to my contributions? I don't want to do anything to get myself in trouble again. I don't see anything under MY PREFERENCES. Thank you.

Apologies about the gender thing. You can write about yourself on your user page, User:Nicoontheweb; check out mine for guidance. It's okay to say some stuff about you but don't try to sell anything and don't link to any personal websites at least until you've established yourself as an editor. Also, Wikipedia is not expertise-driven -- in a sense, it doesn't matter if you're an expert or not, your edits are judged on their own substance, and on the sources you cite for verification.
