Greetings --

I hope you still log in to Wikipedia once in a while (since otherwise you won't see this). Congratulations on your excellent rewrite of John Cheever. Have you heard of The Literary Encyclopedia? They aren't a wiki; they only include articles written by "qualified writers," and the site charges a subscription fee. Currently, they don't have a biography for John Cheever(!); see here. (If I had realized how many authors they don't have biographies for yet, I might not have dished out their subscription fee so quickly!) As Cheever's authorized biographer, you certainly must be what The Literary Encyclopedia would consider a "qualified writer." I don't know if they pay their contributers, but I'd bet you could drop in your Wikipedia article almost unchanged, so contributing a biography shouldn't represent much time and effort on your part. Anyway, I thought you might be interested. Good luck with your upcoming book! RedSpruce 02:57, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your work on the Cheever and Blake Bailey pages. Geology1001 (talk) 03:42, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Roth, etc.[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to offer my personal assistance with any future issues you have on Wikipedia. Please feel free to email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com any time with questions, thoughts, or concerns. You might find this guide a useful introduction: WP:PSCOI. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:14, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Bailey, it's sad but Wikipedia has a long history of poor interaction with academics and other subject experts. It has also had an unfortunate history of people claiming qualifications they do not have (see "Essjay"), so I understand that people would not immediately accept your claims, but I think there is now sufficient evidence to put your claims to be Mr Roth's biographer beyond doubt. A socially more aware Wikipedian would have handled things better.--Peter cohen (talk) 22:03, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm sorry for the all the trouble that this episode has caused, Mr. Bailey. I was the first user to revert your edit at The Human Stain. I was suspicious because you were editing, perhaps unaware that this would be an issue, as an IP instead of with your account here. I had no way to verify your connection to Mr. Roth. I don't know exactly what transpired behind the scenes, but clearly you were not sent the right message. --Jprg1966 (talk) 02:43, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nabokov9, assuming you are the IP, that has also edited other articles in this area, it would be helpful to others here and possibly you, if you could sign in to make all your edits. see Wikipedia:Why create an account?. If you are not that IP, that could also create problems for both you and the Pedia, but using your registered account, Nabokov9, will help obviate that and any other issues related to multiple edits and privacy.
