Your rollback request

Hi Mr.weedle, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert anything else (such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with) can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, then don't use rollback and instead use a manual edit summary. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 19:20, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Please help with usability testing

Hello! The mw:Anti-Harassment Tools team is running a usability test to find out how and where IP addresses are used when patrolling wikis, particularly when patrolling RecentChanges. This could include New Pages or RecentChanges patrol. We want to see your patrolling process and get your views on some prototypes. Getting your perspective would be really helpful to us at this stage of the process. If you’d like to help, and have 30 minutes to spare, please fill out this Google form with your details: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfjYyRNGMkO4_TdNOgG4qmK9cp9YOKzM4GFO5pTd_bEcu23YQ/viewform

What exactly do you want a source for? That they're the current champions or that whether or not they can defend it depends on the format and timing of the competition? Rambo Apocalypse (talk) 01:17, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Mr.weedle (talk) 01:18, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
So what do you want a source for? Why would anybody challenge that Chelsea are the current champions having won the 2021 edition or that whether or not they can defend it depends on the format of the competition? Rambo Apocalypse (talk) 01:25, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
From the article "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution."
To look at it from another angle, what would you think if I added to the Spur's page that they were the current champions? Remember that not everyone is a football fan, and people come to the Wiki from all walks of life and could take what is written on any page for its face value. I for one have zero idea who the current champions are. Mr.weedle (talk) 17:32, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Alain de benoist

There must be thousands of authors who have written on the idea of progress. Why recommend this deeply inflammatory author and publication (the occidental quarterly)? It’s not something you would find in any other encyclopedia. 72.95.130.125 (talk) 01:23, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Alas, just because you don't like this person, for whatever reason (I'm not passing judgment here), does not make it un-encyclopedic. Wikipedia has a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view policy. Mr.weedle (talk) 01:28, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
What do you think the “Further Reading” section is for? How are we supposed to decide who gets included and who gets left out? This is a real question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.95.130.125 (talk) 01:34, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
There's a great article on this topic - please review. Wikipedia:Further_reading
FWIW, what triggered this revert is your edit summary, removing a line with calling the author a "Neo-Fascist" which in itself is not a NPOV and there was no discussion or description of -why- this should not be in further reading.
I wont revert your edit, but worth reading through. Mr.weedle (talk) 01:45, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Marking edits as minor

Please make sure you don't tag edits as minor when they are not. Per WP:minor, it should only be used for clear language errors, formatting and obvious vandalism. For instance, [1], [2] and [3] are not minor edits. I see you're using Huggle to make these reverts. I don't have experience with Huggle, but the archives seem to provide guidance how to not mark reverts as minor. Femke (talk) 12:48, 20 August 2022 (UTC)

Oh that’s super interesting, honestly this has never been brought to my attention. Looking at the archive you linked me it seems there’s no resolution here. Huggle uses revert and rollback internally - which per Wikimedia software, automatically marks things as minor. I rarely mark a change minor myself unless it’s a tiny change per WP:MINOR. I assume this is a widespread issue, I’ll do my best to resolve - however the rate of change and bad edits on the wiki is very high and it’s not always feasible to make manual edits, especially in times of elevated traffic.

I’ll try and get this to the attention of the Huggle team, would be useful to be able to select software rollback for some types of edit reasons. Mr.weedle (talk) 14:08, 20 August 2022 (UTC)

Thanks again for raising - I’ve gone ahead and started a discussion on the feedback page if you care to join in or put your vote behind the request it would be great. Mr.weedle (talk) 14:16, 20 August 2022 (UTC)

Adding game of thrones info to a song of ice and fire article

Hello,

I see you have recently added a lot of information about the HBO TV series, A Game of Thrones to the the article A List of Characters In A Song of Ice and Fire. The TV series is based on the books, but isnt the books. That is why we have a second article , Characters in A Game of Thrones. Please read the hat note on the Song of Ice and Fires character page before readding TV information to the book page. If you would like to keep this information, please add it to the page about the show. 2601:2C3:57F:3F8E:E86B:7FAE:1413:CC87 (talk) 03:00, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Not Neutral edit

I am an electrical engineer and I made some edits on the website of the electronic program of ENSEIRB-MATMECA, a french grande ecole. All I did was explain how the program is organised and the different areas that are covered, at least in the first year. I studied 6 months there and have friends who graduated there. I would like to know how my review wasn't neutral if the information is literally available on their website. By the way, what are your credentials in engineering to make your opinion more authorized than mine? I think we should always look for the information from verified sources, in this case the university website, instead of taking action under the effects of ignorance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.61.2.159 (talk) 02:25, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Weston has been found, it was actually found in the late 60s by a gentleman named James. I've spent the entire year researching and exploring the area of weston. Canned Feud edit

Hi, I wasn’t exactly able to find a specific source for the recent edit for Canned Feud, however do IMDb reviews and its TVTropes entry count as reliable sources? Both sources noted stuff seen in the analysis. 00:35, 31 August 2022 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.16.37.216 (talk)

Take a look over here Wikipedia_talk:Citing_IMDb/Archive_1#IMDB_as_a_reliable_source for a good discussion on IMDB as a source.

Ok, so I guess IMDb doesn’t really count for reliable sourcing. Is this the same for the tv tropes entry of the cartoon too? 47.16.37.216 (talk) 00:47, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

TV Tropes is a tertiary source, please don't cite it. Take a look at whatever sources are cited in TV Tropes, validate, then cite those sources. Mr.weedle (talk) 05:09, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Looked over it again today, there was no citations on TV Tropes either. It’s pretty hard to find analysis articles about a 7 minute cartoon from 1951. The only other thing I can find were a few reviews from Letterboxd. I still don’t know if all these references are considered a consensus for the cartoon. 47.16.37.216 (talk) 08:44, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Alba family edit

I edited the page for the Dutchess of Alba because my grandfather was her half brother. My father is Emilio Silvio Saria Alba de La Corona Spain. My grandfather, Emilio J Alba, was the child of an affair from their shared father, and left Spain at 14 years old and traveled to Cuba, My aunts and grandmother were born in Cuba, and my father was born in New York City after they left Cuba during the revolution. When my mother and father(second marriage) honeymooned when they married, they traveled with my grandmother and older brothers to Spain and stayed with our family in the castles, and we have the proud history of the coat of arms and artifacts passed through our family we cherish and have kept private and protected. We are the black sheep (so to speak) of this lineage. I wanted it to be openly shared as my aunts and father are in 70's and 80's and their history to be acknowledged. 2601:282:D00:8CD0:384F:B6F9:4AE2:4B64 (talk) 04:28, 17 September 2022 (UTC)

Hello. Thanks for explaining your edit. The changes you reverted were in the lead and I've provided sources further down in the page, specifically throughout the development section.. The Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section which says, "Because the lead will usually repeat information that is in the body, editors should balance the desire to avoid redundant citations in the lead with the desire to aid readers in locating sources for challengeable material."

Let me know which part of the lead you feel needs a citation. I can then point a reference (or references) on the page to that section of the lead. Rjjiii (talk) 05:38, 17 September 2022 (UTC)

Also this tone and abrupt post is hardly appropriate. Please be more thoughtful in your approach of users, as an Administrator it’s even more important. Mr.weedle (talk) 01:42, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Mr.weedle,

Before tagging a page for having no context or no content, please check the page history. In this case, the page had just been "blanked" by an editor which is why it had no content. It didn't need deletion, it called for a revert of the page blanking. If the editor wanted this redirect deleted, they should nominate it at WP:RFD, not blank a page and then have the page be deleted by CSD for being blank. Thank you. Liz Read! WVVH-CD

Why was my edit to WVVH-CD flipped back? I was just making the timeline more straight as the original one jumps into 2011 and then back down into 2007,which might confuse readers. Danubeball (talk) 00:22, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

Apologies our vandalism software didn't show that it was moved. Feel free to revert, but the comment still stands, it really should have a source. If you can find one to add that would be great! Mr.weedle (talk) 00:25, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

Autocunnilingus

Sir, you removed my edit saying that pornography performer Annbarby Nika could do autocunnilingus for not providing a reliable source. (1) Porn websites are blocked by the self-declared non-censoring Wikipedia -- in this case, XVideos and Spankbang, so I cannot provide a direct link. (2) You should simply tag 'citation needed' to my edit or provide one source, rather than removing it entirely. People could easily verify my claim if they read it. If it is removed, people would be left with an wrong impression that this act was not reliably documented. (3) In order to verify it, just google it with keywords like 'Annbarby Nika lick own pussy' and you get ample results immediately. It's fine if you don't watch porn, but please don't divert and hide the truth. She has done it convincingly. It's an objective fact that deserves to be documented, even it is porn-related. Sofeshue (talk) 14:10, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

Ok. So it's not my job to prove your claims, that onus rests on you. Please read Wikipedia:PROVEIT, and find an alternative source if the source you want is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. Mr.weedle (talk) 18:35, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi! I'm the assistant of Dr. amina wadud. She asked me to update her profile on wikipedia. Akunbuamina (talk) 04:04, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

Sorry but that alone isn’t enough. You must use reliable sources, and you should be extremely careful to avoid conflicts of interest. Please read wp:refb and wp:conflict. Happy editing! Mr.weedle (talk) 04:06, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

My proof (not much)

I can't source it because I feel like a Spotify album isn't going to cut it. But https://open.spotify.com/album/7ncAyWge1gHlppBwT5s7Ls, https://open.spotify.com/album/1h7ImlzNzcZFI9H291lIkq. It's an album by Deporitaz uploaded in Spotify. Of course, not that proof. But it is still by Deporitaz, they're pretty much just midis made by Neil. (One of the midis is actually used as an instrumental in Neil's EP as Lemon Demon "Nature Tapes" in the song "Everybody Loves Raymond".) But it's fine if this is not enough proof, because it IS not enough proof. That's pretty much all, and it's fine if it still doesn't get added. JJAM25 (talk) 08:41, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

Explanation for cold injury edit

Hello, Mr.weedle. I apologize for not messaging you beforehand about editing your article stub. I've created a full article on cold injury as part of a wikipedia student course to expand the information on this topic. As part of making this updated version live, I briefly removed your initial stub and inserted my article. I've reverted the page back to the stub for now so that I can troubleshoot an issue when moving the content. That being said, I'm planning on replacing the current stub information and re-uploading the full article shortly. Hopefully this clarifies things for you. Drchancer (talk) 21:46, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

No problem, it's not my article btw, no one owns articles here either :). In future, it's best to always include a detailed edit summary explaining exactly what you are doing and why. Mass deletion of content is flagged as vandalism, and without context, it's usually reverted quickly. Mr.weedle (talk) 21:56, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
Good to know, thanks! I've gone ahead with transferring the updated article into live wikipedia, and included a more detailed explanation about the reasoning for the edit. Drchancer (talk) 22:11, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

Edit on Doraemon (1979 TV series)

I just wanted to fix a mistake: the image is displayed twice, both with the same caption and on different sections (summary and Cast), i.e. duplicate. So, I removed it from the former secrion and kept it in the latter, as if it's more appropriate for the latter. DimaLeon2000 TALK CONTRIB  01:31, November 23, 2022

Oak Island mystery

" Hello, I'm Mr.weedle. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Oak Island mystery, but you didn't provide a source. " I indeed think that this is an error. You're asking for a source while it's more than common knowledge in France (well, this is the most famous robbery of the last 2000 years in France. it's like asking "can you provide a source demonstrating that Lincoln has been assassinated". That's just weird. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.254.206.5 (talk) 20:14, 3 December 2022 (UTC)

Help with bio update?

Hi, I see you are a member of Wikiprojects Telecommunications. I’ve made some proposals to update the article about Walter De Brouwer, posted here Talk:Walter De Brouwer#Requested edits December 2022. I have a conflict of interest, so I am refraining from direct edits of the article. Could you possibly look at the proposals? Sincere thanks, Supereditor1991 (talk) 17:32, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

I think the proposal is solid, appreciate you checking in. Feel free to add the edits. I've left a note on the article talk page too. Mr.weedle (talk) 23:53, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

Article deletion on Nautilus Minerals

I've written what I think is a well-researched and structure article on nautilus minerals that is awaiting peer-review in my sandbox. I have linked to it here - User:Naeim9146/Nautilus Minerals. Is there anyway I could delete the original article (which is a stub and badly written) and replace it with mine?

Thanks

It would be greatly appreciated if you could review my article. Naeim9146 (talk) 19:37, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Re-Revert at Kingdom of England

I think you may have reverted me in error? I was not adding unsourced content, I was restoring content that had been removed by an anonymous user on seemingly spurious grounds. I checked the content (English defeat of the Spanish Armada) on the page Spanish Armada and it appeared relevant and accurate. Largely Legible Layman (talk) 02:59, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Qaba

Hi, I'm leaving a message here as well per your request, but I did include a source in my edits. Yedida Stillman, Arab Dress. I had to edit in piecemeal today which isn't my preference, and had to step away after my most recent edits which is why you may have missed said source. ISBN for the book is 9781417551880. Additionally there's no need to delete the gallery edits, and the inclusion of Jama and Terlig I justified as pre-existing content of the page mentions the Jama, and the Terlig page mentions its connection to the Jama and Persian Qaba, a connection further touched on in the content I added.
