Welcome to Wikipedia[edit]

Hello, Mouchoir le Souris, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Our intro page provides helpful information for new users - please check it out! If you need help, visit Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on this page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. I was surprised to see that no one had welcomed you yet. Good work on the Transport in Gibraltar article, I was about to fix it myself but it seems that you got to it first! Happy editing! BT Sockets[edit]

I think it is essential to show the cabling and the wire atully going into the sockets but I like your gallery idea. I also think it is vital to show those nasty plastic tools so people dont use them

Market Drayton[edit]

User:kev_inr No offence just reinstated links that would be and are of interest to those of us who live in the town. Its about its history recent as well as ancient and its present andwho knows the future too! Thank You —Preceding comment was added at 17:10, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

User:kev_inr Thanks for getting back to me. A lot of effort went into collating those pages for various reasons and they have provided many townspeople with memorys of fairly recent nostalga plus the Drayton youth of today can see that once their own parents had "a life". like all towns Market Drayton is constantly changing and its important we retain images of our past to understand where we have come from. Thank You and good luck with your future projects! —Preceding comment was added at 20:26, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Khed[edit]

thankyou - glad you like the edits - I've always enjoyed reorganising/tweaking articles that could use it. Mouchoir le Souris (talk) 20:23, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rays incident on medium[edit]

Hi, thanks for Image:Rays incident on medium.png. Can you adjust it so the refracted ray makes a shallower angle with the normal than the incident ray does? In the figure, it looks as though the light is entering a solid object, presumably from air. Since solid objects and liquids have a higher index of refraction than air does, the ray bends toward the normal.

(Note also that the title is inaccurate: only one of the rays is incident on the medium.)--Srleffler (talk) 04:16, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. I followed the link at the bottom of the infobox to the PDF file (actually more like a Powerpoint presentation), and I'm sure it said ~46bn turnover & ~2.5bn profit. Just to check this wasn't some elaborate hoax, I checked out the source still further, and yes, tescocorporate.com is registered to Tesco's head office. I'll take another look at it, but I would have thought their own figures would be accurate. --Rodhullandemu (please reply here - contribs) 20:59, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Got it. Confusion over decimal point. I'll change them to billions, with appropriate points. --Rodhullandemu (please reply here - contribs) 21:01, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for your welcoming note on my talk page. Persondata seems like it has potential to be very useful and I'm glad to help out any way I'm able. Teleomatic (talk) 03:36, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Persondata[edit]

Yeah, I'm going to work on it now and then, but for now let's do that. I'll probalby even just start at the end and we can meet in the middle somewhere. --Rajah (talk) 01:26, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Btw, you should check out this script User talk:Dr pda/persondata.js. It might be of some assistance. --Rajah (talk) 14:07, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your welcome message.[edit]

I think adding persondata is really neat, because it's such a small thing that can improve every article. This is just an idea but maybe the WP persondata project can have an up-to-date count on the number of articles tagged with persondata in the English Wikipedia especially since we seem to be "competing" with the German Wikipedia. Perhaps it can also reveal which articles are more likely to be tagged. миражinred (speak, my child...) 02:43, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, thanks for the welcome! Admittedly my periods of wiki productivity are a little sporadic, but it seems like such a small thing to add PersonData to any bio pages I come across that don't already have it that it's almost silly not to do it. I'll do my best! Zhukora (talk) 12:51, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your work on Autotransfusion.[edit]

I have been involved in the medical field for many years. I have been working with autotransfusion for about sixteen years. I have always been trying to educate and inform people about this process. Please note I updated your concerns regarding copyright in the Autotransfusion article. Thanks again for all your efforts. --DELCHERD@COMCAST.NET 08:18, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Shropshire[edit]

Hey, just wondering if you'd be interested in being a member of a proposed WikiProject to cover Shropshire? The proposal can be found here. If you are, could you possibly put your name in the list. Thanks Asdfasdf1231234 (talk) 21:42, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Persondata questions[edit]

Hi. I was about to add Persondata to an article for the first time, but there are a couple of things I am not sure about. One of those is the nickname issue. Paula Creamer, the person I will add the data to, is nicknamed the "Pink Panther". This is obviously not the first thing you think of when you see the term, but she is commonly known by the name in the golf world, so I'm unsure whether to include it as an alternate name. I'd also like to know whether to leave a space before DEFAULTSORT. I've figured out that a space should be left on top, but have seen it both ways on the bottom. Your answers to these questions would be appreciated. Giants2008 (talk) 16:52, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shuts and passages[edit]

Hi there - not Wikipedia related, but very much Shrewsbury related! Have a read of the following article about the new move by the County Council to add 20 of the shuts and passages in the town centre to the rights of way map.

http://shrewsburyforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1390

It's an important moment in getting many of the town's shuts and passages the protection they deserve. Would be most excellent if you could chip in with a letter of support or so. David (talk) 21:12, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.

I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.

Thank you.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
