Speedy deletion of John Stevenson (geologist)

Hi Mootros. I've declined the speedy deletion (A7) of John Stevenson (geologist) as I don't think it qualifies for deletion under your selected rationale. The edit summary I gave was:

Declined speedy; the assertion that this individual has been consulted as an expert by numerous TV networks means WP:CSD#A7 is not applicable. Take to WP:AFD if necessary.

At this stage, I could see an AfD going either way. The article – in its current state – is not up to standard (particularly the tone) and the notability is borderline. Please let me know if you'd like me to clarify anything. Regards, matt (talk) 14:09, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for contacting me. I am not sure I can follow you. What precisely is this person's notability? Any extraordinary scientific achievements or distinctions? Or is he a famous explorer? Having merely spoken to a TV network or taken a picture of some is not notable itself. Mootros (talk) 14:21, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
It's that asserting notability is a lower standard than being notable. I believe that stating that Stevenson has had multiple appearances on TV is a reasonable assertion of notability. This is not the same as saying the article passes the general notability guideline, but that it merely disqualifies it from speedy deletion via A7. matt (talk) 15:13, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for Welcome / Help with article

Hi Mootros, thank you for your welcome to Wikipedia. I look forward to contributing to this community. I have a question; I'm trying to start an article about a company titled "Pixable," but the article page seems to be protected. What would I need to do to remove that protection so I can edit it? Please let me know.. Thanks! Elaynekosty (talk) 15:08, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi Elaynekosty, this is the log I got from the page. It means that there was already an article under this name, which got deleted because "A7. No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content)". Have a look here Wikipedia:CSD#A7. It's very like if you recreate this article that it will get instantly deleted. However, if you think that this article should exist here, you need to make a good case as to why it has notability supported with adequate citations. Good luck. Yours, Mootros (talk) 15:21, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference.

Log: 11:30, 4 August 2009 VirtualSteve (talk | contribs) deleted "Pixable" ‎ (G4: Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion: A7: Article about an eligible subject, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject) 00:10, 1 August 2009 Juliancolton (talk | contribs) deleted "Pixable" ‎ (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pixable) 04:41, 7 July 2009 Kubigula (talk | contribs) deleted "Pixable" ‎ (A7: No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion) 21:16, 1 July 2009 NawlinWiki (talk | contribs) deleted "Pixable" ‎ (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion) 21:16, 1 July 2009 NawlinWiki (talk | contribs) deleted "Pixable" ‎ (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)

Thanks for your answer Mootros. What would be the best way of lifting that protection so I can start the article from 0 again? Maybe is wasn't notable when it was deleted, but it is now! Elaynekosty (talk) 15:32, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
I see. The page is now protected because it has repeatedly been recreated. If you feel this page should be created, please raise the matter at Deletion review You will really need to show that the previous concerns are no longer a problem. Mootros (talk) 15:42, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Why do you write my contribution as vandalism here : Bioinformatics company Why do you consider it not notable, whereas other company like Genomatix are notable ?

Instead of removing my contribution strongly, would you explain your position !!!

Regards, Pierre —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pierocielo (talkcontribs) 10:17, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for making contact. Please have look here The three-revert rule. I did not see any discussion about your company on the talk page, so I assumed that after your third revert you are vandalising.
Your contribution is valued in this project here; I suggest you read the following WP:N and WP:V so you could make a more meaningful contribution. All the best.

Duke lacrosse case

That's quite a mouthful, do you think? Would you mind posting to the talk page explaining the move? I'm not sure if I support or not, personally I am minded to have the title "Duke lacrosse case" but others involved may have comments as well. Happy editing,--Wehwalt (talk) 19:09, 23 April 2010 (UTC)--Wehwalt (talk) 19:09, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

I've read it and dropped a note or two to active editors. Let's see what happens. Many thanks,--Wehwalt (talk) 20:01, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't think much of this new title; Duke Lacrosse Case would suffice. There most definitely was a case ... where a crooked District Attorney (Mike Nifong)conspired with others, including Crystal Gail Mangum to frame three innocent Duke students for forcible rape. Warning - Do not restore a removed PROD tag

Please stop restoring the PROD and Speedy delete tags on the article John Stevenson (geologist) or you may be blocked for edit warning and failing to follow wikipedia policy. Please read WP:CONTESTED: Which says: "If anyone, including the article creator, removes a prod tag from an article, do not replace it, even if the tag was apparently removed in bad faith. Citizenship of the European Union

Just saw you reverted changes to Citizenship of the European Union, since it was dutch info in a seciton on UK/Denmark. I think the section was thought to introduce info on ultraperiferal and other outlying parts of the EU and therefore added the Dutch info (and changed the heading accordingly). Note that in the section also no UK info at all is present yet, so it should anyway be expanded and this was my (modest) start... Groet! L.tak 09:11, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Ok, sorry. Would you like to expand on it. It just look a litle bit out of place. Please don't be discouraged and work away! Mootros (talk) 09:14, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
I will expand tonight and make a more comprehensive subsection then... L.tak 09:27, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Fotos - Angela_Laich

Hello!

I'll try to manage the photoes, will have to spend some time to learn how and what should be marked at the forms about photos. As i see any information in my article is demanded to be corrected to bring the footsteps and references, otherwise it is deleted. I'm trying now to collect the references in the editions and books and bring them into aticle, but many things are not published in the newspapers or printed magazines. And i can see many articles give the information about some facts without references. As an example - "Hrdlicka was a talented chess player. In 1953 Austria sent him to participate in the Student World Championship in Brussels." - no reference, i asked Angela and she aproved that he was a chess-player, but there is no reference about this information in wikipedia. May be she or i try to translate the article about Hrdlicka in English, it will demand some time also, will not be made soon. Mit freundlichen Grüss, Farmount1989

Dear Farmount1989, Thank you kindly for your reply. Please take your time; your contribution here is very much appreciated. If you need some help with uploading pictures to the wikimedia common, I would happily assist you. I am able to read and write German and should be able to clarify things if need be, especially with regard to uploading pictures of Angela Laich and her work.
