Sorry... but, here's a GAN in serious need of a review

Hi, sorry for this piece of unsolicited spam. Sitakunda Upazila has been submitted to a GA review, after a fine peer review (thanks to Amartya). I am gunning for FA with this article. But, there may be problems I am unaware of (apart from bad copy). When the GA review is through, I'd like to have the WP:LOCE take a look. I originally posted a request to Lara, who did a bit of tweaking but declined to review (she says she's done with reviews). Sandy also lent a hand, but she is also not available for the review. Would care to review this article? Go as thorough and ruthless as you want, I'll try to meet all the suggestions. Promise. Aditya(talkcontribs) 16:45, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

:Sure, but would you mind copyediting this article? miranda 20:34, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
I have looked through this article and found out that the prose is not to standard condition. In addition, there are many grammar and punctuation mistakes. Also, in the references, the retrieval dates are not supposed to be italicized, per WP:CITE. Sorry, but I cannot GA review this article for you. I highly suggest you submit this article to the LOCE, because there are many mistakes in this article. miranda 00:50, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Looking thorough this article again. I decided to take this off of GAN due to the excessive prose and copyediting errors. I am going through the article now. miranda 04:46, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Update: Oh! Sorry, my poor reasoning... I should have checked for responses here while I was wondering about you getting down and dirty to copyedit (thanks a lot, though). I am taking it to LOCE first, but probably not through the project (in short, I'm asking Kyoko, a great copyeditor I know, and Phaedriel as well). Will be submitting to GAN again, soon (and, if you don't mind, I'll spamming you again, I guess). Can you, please, do another favor and keep an eye on the development of the copy? Aditya(talkcontribs) 06:38, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
One more request - is it possible for you to guide me section by section? I read the mini-review, and I guess the format you detailed will need a bit of example for my understanding. It would be much helpful. Aditya(talkcontribs) 15:10, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

(reduce indent) First, add the article to the League of Copyeditors. They can do a better job than I could. :) Many issues with this article (prose, punctuation, grammar, etc.) exist. The members can address and help you with the issues. Second, I probably won't GA review this article again, due to conflict of interest and lack of time. Cheers. miranda 16:23, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello!

Thank you. --C'est moi Parlez 04:04, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for taking the time to review Oklahoma State Highway 9. I notice you put the article on hold but forgot to list your concerns under the template. Could you please do that so I could address them? Thanks again. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 00:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I will do that now. miranda 01:01, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for moving this free image to Commons! Unforunuately, you then marked it as CSD I8, but since you are not the uploader, you must mark it with {{mncd}} (aka, NowCommons) for a week before it can be deleted here. I've gone ahead and done it on this image. There are a lot more images to move if you want to do more, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Moving free images to Wikimedia Commons. Thanks again! MECUtalk 17:05, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I think you meant {{NowCommons}}. And, no I am not interested in moving other images (except for the above) to Commons. Thanks anyway! miranda 17:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

DYK

Updated DYK query On 4 January, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Osceola Macarthy Adams, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Thank you for your numerous DYK, GA, and FA content at Wikipedia! --Royalbroil 05:23, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

I would like to nominate your for adminship because I think you've learned from your last RfA 2 months ago. --Alisyntalk 20:14, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you so much for nominating me for adminship. Unfortunately, I have to respectfully decline at this time. Thank you for your concern and your generosity in thinking about nominating me for adminship. miranda 02:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikiproject Reggaeton Banner/ad/template

Hey Miranda, someone pointed out on the project talk page that "Reggaeton" is mispelled in the banner. We dont want to sound disgraceful, but is it possible to be fixed?--TrUcO9311 TaLk / SiGn 21:02, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

WP:LOTD

In the last month, you have created a new WP:FL. From what I can tell, this is your first one. Congratulations! You may not be aware of WP:LOTD. We are experimenting with selecting Lists of the Day so similar to the current WP:TFA and WP:POTD features that run on the main page. I invite you to participate.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 21:28, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

The University of Florida page

  • I understand why you failed the page. Having said that I really tried to improve the article with the limited free-time that I had available. Be that as it may none of the other Official UF Wikipedia Project contributors took the initiative to also do the edits that you suggested. It's a sad state of affairs for the Gator Nation. Yes, I can. But I proposed a resting period of 1 month after the closing of my RFA, due to the concerns brought up by opposers. I decided to honour that, and thank you for supporting my request. RFA spam inbound, unless you don't want it. :) Rudget. 10:05, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations!!!! List of Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters has been selected to be a February WP:LOTD. If you have any particular date preferences please contact me by January 24th. Oddly, I did not see your votes at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/voting/200802 even though you said you voted. What happened?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 16:41, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Responded on your page. Miranda 01:59, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I hope in the future it will appear on the main page, but right now it is one of three selection methods vying for approval. If you like this method the best way to help it get to the main page is to continue to nominate and vote for lists using the method. If and when we can show viability by example that will help to get it on the main page. That is part of why I tried to get you to vote. The more voters the better a track record we can build up for making a proposal.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 17:08, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which I withdrew with 5 support, 14 oppose, and 9 neutral. Thank you for your comments! Whether it was a support, oppose, or neutral, I likely got some good feedback from you. I will probably do another RfA in the future, but not until I work out the issues brought up.

Rudget!

Dear Miranda, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 16:54, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Great work you're doing at FAC. You'll get there. Is it possible you could do something to reduce the length of your signature? I don't understand these things, but I believe there are ways to create coloured sigs that don't take up so much bandwidth! --Dweller (talk) 12:27, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Halle Berry

Why did you move her to the right of my article (bless your heart) I liked her on the left... By the way, none of this "nonsense" started until I began to (attempt) to upload contributions to Wikipedia. I am sorry that the upload incidents happened on Wikipedia. I guess people won't assume good faith, but I will move the image back to the left. Your contributions are highly valuable, and suggest you to e-mail the address (OTRS) to sort the situation out. I will move the picture of Halle Berry to the left, too. Thanks! HL cites

Sure thing - still working on them! (Don't know why someone changed the format on some of them to the vertical - I don't think it's necessary, do you? But am not going to change it now. Just wish they'd be more careful about not dropping subsequent text changes...) Tvoz |talk 06:35, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Bures!

Thanks for adding the picture of Heath Ledger to the Northern Sámi wikipedia. Could you please do me a favor, however, and not add in English captions under pics? Our resources there are beyond meager, so even having to translate a small amount of text from another language slows us down greatly. Thanks (and please do keep adding images there! :)). -Yupik (talk) 22:01, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh, on .se? I tried to find a person on IRC to translate, but the channel did not exist. All you have to do is translate "in", and the picture's caption would be fine. (i.e. Heath Ledger [in] 2006) miranda 22:11, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Yehpp, that wiki. And I did :) If you'd like, you can always leave me a note about a caption that you want translated if you can't find someone to translate it. If I can't translate it, I'll try to find someone who can. But again, thanks for adding the pic in the first place. -Yupik (talk) 22:35, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Sitakunda again

Hi, it's been sometime since Sitakunda Upazila quick failed a GAN. In the intervening period Keeper76 copyedited the article in full, Kyoko has rewritten the lead, Bakasuprman and CJLL Wright helped with by copyediting specific parts. I have done some work too, including incorporation of observations of Hurricanehink, fixing refs in part, and clarifying some parts. Before I take another attempt to take it GAN, would you please give it another review? I'd very much like to get it improved as much I can before facing the music. Thanks. Aditya(talkcontribs) 14:36, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Okay (Well, not entirely). I was so sad to have you decline the request that it took me two days to post a reply. What a pity that I can't get the best reviewer I know to take a look at the article! Anyways, thanks for the help you've already done. It was you who shook me back into reality regarding the article. I was so happy about the hard work put into it that I completely ignored the big problems it had. It still has problems, but nothing that diligence can't solve. Thanks and cheers. Aditya(talkcontribs) 14:39, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
