Picking an Article to Work With, ENGL 320[edit]

1) Christian counseling -- This article would qualify as a bold editing job and is flagged as coming across as an argumentative essay in places. It is a broad and debated topic, and needs to be heavily proofread, researched, and cited (when applicable, other information potentially removed and/or other perspective(s) addressed).

2) Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (character)-- I think this would be a good article to perform some bold edits to because it addresses a well-known literary character/dichotomy, but the information lacks clear flow. The actual written section is clunky, probably biased, and does not provide the information a reader needs to have a working understanding of this topic. Also, excepting the first section, it is entirely devoid of citations!

3) Myers–Briggs Type Indicator -- This article is somewhat long already, but it is repetitive and its organization is confusing; It also comes across as unusually cynical towards the MBTI system. As an editor, my job would be to move the article towards objectivity, being careful to highlight both sides (fans and cynics, professional and non-professional opinions) in this article (opinions should be a relatively small section). People come to Wikipedia to find information about MBTI, maybe its history/basic psychology origins, a reference list of popular tests, links to affiliated figures (i.e. Jung). The facts need to be presented more readily and clearly.

4) Orthodoxy (book) -- This could be a good article to expand (I think that counts as editing?). It is currently a "stub", but is ranked as a Class 5 importance in Art, and is one of G.K. Chesterton's most widely-read books and considered a "staple" of Christian apologetics.

5) Christianity and Judaism -- This article is generally well-developed, but it is missing SO many citations! It's really not doing its job as an encyclopedic entry without those, and an editor should come through to cite information (and either remove or note what information is commonly disputed). Potential Articles[edit]

Christian counseling

  • Good candidate!

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (character)

  • Also good!

Myers–Briggs Type Indicator

  • Interestingly, this article was nominated for "featured article" status in 2005 and 2006, so if you choose to edit it, you might visit those iterations of the article to see its trajectory. Good find!

Orthodoxy (book)

  • There's definitely some work to be done here in terms of adding content and organizing what's already there.

Christianity and Judaism

  • I think this would be a challenging article to work with, but I think your points about it needing citations and notations about disputed information make sense.

March 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi MinatureNalgene! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Myers–Briggs Type Indicator that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Hi Grayfell! Thanks so much for pointing this out to me, I'll go clarify that in the edit history now! MinatureNalgene (talk) 02:07, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
