Why isn't her article titled that instead of Eva Marcille? I didn't even know her middle name until now, and I'm certain that her common name is Eva Pigford. A little after seeing your user name pop up in the edit history of an article that I have on my watchlist, I just came across your quote of the day, which is from her, and saw that you had it titled Eva Marcille. I was a little confused to see that it was Eva Pigford, since I've never heard her called by the name Eva Marcille. I was thinking she'd gotten married or something, and someone probably changed the name of her article...until I clicked on it and saw that Marcille is her middle name. What's up with her article being titled that? Flyer22 (talk) 07:13, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Again, thanks for clearing that up. Flyer22 (talk) 07:22, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And no matter the last name she's using, she should be referred to by that last name throughout the article, of course, instead of by her first name. I'll format her article in that way later. Flyer22 (talk) 07:25, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What do you make of this edit by an IP? I changed it back to Marcille, because that's her legal name now, right? Either that or just the name she's going by now in her modeling career. I left it as Marcelle (notice the e instead of the i) as the IP left it for her birth name, though, but what do you make of that? Is that correct, that it's the "e" version? Chantal Jones (ANTM cycle 9)[edit]

Thank you for finding a source for her last name! People have been adding and removing it (and other false last names) for ages, so it's really nice to finally have a source to prove which is correct. Eatcacti (talk) 09:47, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question about AntiSpamBot[edit]

You reverted AntiSpamBot's edit to Mel Rose. I'm wondering why that would happen. From your history, you look like a good editor, so seeing that just made me wonder if there are any kinks in AntiSpamBot. Thanks. Wryspy (talk) 01:44, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Need your help with persistent vandal[edit]

I went to another administrator about this, but they didn't respond quick enough, so I told them I'd take this to someone else. Well, that brings me to you, Mike, as the first to pop up in my head. A vandal, as seen in this link, keeps vandalizing the Janice Dickinson article. Doesn't seem likely to stop. Even threatened to have me blocked. And has the nerve to call me a vandal. Flyer22 (talk) 21:32, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help, of course. I'm going to add two valid citations to the lead of her article that declare her as a supermodel, but I'm sure that won't even satisfy this vandal. Either way, I'm not worried about this vandal's satisfication. Flyer22 (talk) 22:25, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Damsel in distress #2 for the night[edit]

Hey Mike ~ I followed Flyer22 to you because she knows her stuff. Could you please protect the Belle Black page from moves. People keep moving the page from her common name to her "married" name that she's had for 2 days. Belle Brady is not her common name and there is already confusion because her birth name was Brady. Could you please protect it from moves? Please!!!! CelticGreen (talk) 01:52, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I've noticed you're a frequent contributor to the Days article. I nominated it for Good Article status, and it is currently on hold. I'm not much of a soap expert (I nominated the article because I thought it looked very well done), so could you go and take a look at the talk page and see what has to be done? Regards. Mike, I see that you started the Paul B. Davis page and I also see that you have had nothing to do with it in a long time. I wanted to let you know that I just went through it and wikified it as well as corrected the dates. I don't know how anyone got the dates as wrong as they were, but I have fixed all of that stuff now. The article is a stub and could use a great deal more work, but I thought I would give you a chance to go look at it and tell me what you think or what you think needs to be done. What do you think of this...[1][2] (I mean, more so the Jesse talk)?

My main thought about it is that Darnell Williams had better be coming back as Jacob, if it's a long-term contract that he's signed. If it's brief, I'm okay with it being Jesse, if he's a ghost/angel again, but not as a "back from the dead" Jesse. The rest of my feelings on this matter were stated on my talk page. Flyer22 (talk) 01:47, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate, that landed on WP:100! I paid close attention to everything that was said, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because it's the holiday and there are plenty of off-wiki distractions. :) I'm also working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thanks again, and have a great holiday season, --Elonka 17:35, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kateandalliecover.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kateandalliecover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:15, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedians by location[edit]

Just a comment for clarification.

There were several suggestions on what the final form should be. As this is a "no consensus" close (of a discussion that ran quite longer than the normal 5 days), there should be no problem immediately renominating based on information discovered from this discussion - rather than waiting the 3 months you suggested in your closure. The "3 months" suggestion is typically used for discussions which become incindiarily heated, which I don't believe was the case for this discussion.

Anyway, all that said, thank you for closing. (And there are a few others on that page that could use closing as well : ) - jc37 11:02, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suggested three months so there will be less drama and more opportunities for consensus building. Relisting it doesn't give anyone enough time to rethink a new strategy and just rehashes a lot of yelling, which is counterproductive. Mike H. Celebrating three years of being hotter than Paris 11:30, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(First, my apologies for this late response. I've been away from Wikipedia for a bit.)
In looking over the discussion, I didn't and don't see the "yelling" (or drama) that you refer to. But anyway, your latter reason is exactly why I'm going to "relist", since it's not exactly relisting, but rather listing, based on what did seem have consensus. Often closing as "no consensus" and following up with a new nomination, developed from what we've learned in a previous nomination, can be a good thing, especially since the intended goal from the outset was to find a consensus.
Hope you're having a good day : ) - jc37 09:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Days of Our Lives head writer page[edit]

Hi Mike. Sorry to bother you about this, but in the week I've been on Wikipedia, it's been quite interesting. I had noticed rude comments about me personally last week on Wikipedia. This led me to the "Days of Our Lives" main page. Then I found this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Days_of_our_Lives_producers_and_writers

On that page, I had added a cite to my website a few days ago, since all of the exact tenure dates were researched by me for over a year and it was me who provided the information to the Internet. I told everyone here I was fine if the information was left on Wikipedia, but asked that I be credited/cited since it was my original research. As I found out from other conversations, original research is not allowed on Wikipedia. I removed the exact tenure dates taken from my website, and left the years that they wrote. If you can provide the source where you got the information from, I've been told the exact month/day dates can be added back to the page. You posted this information back in June 2007. If you did not get this information from my website, I'd love to know where you did get all those exact dates from (if it was from somewhere else, it would have saved me a year's worth of effort)! If it did come from my website, that's fine, but just remember to cite information if being taken from my website, and from other editor's comments, it seems none of my original research can be added to Wikipedia. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Aquariuscan.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Aquariuscan.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. And I'd ask that you drop the dogged pursuit of your substanceless crusade against ST47 which you've unfairly dragged Werdna and Mike H. into, constitutes half of your edits so far this year, and has contributed a disproportionate amount of disruption compared to any than the bot ever did. But this is the real world and we can't all get what we want. east.718 at 14:16, May 25, 2008
The problem with ST47's bot is trivial, the problem with ST47 is huge. If he placed the following note at ANI, I would immediately shut up; I hear you all, I'll start by making the edit summaries more clear. Thanks for the feedback.
I don't know who you are, East, but there seems to be a bot crowd that thinks WP:B doesn't apply to them. Let me repeat myself, just to be sure you understand - I don't care too much about a sloppy bot. But a group of arrogant, smug people who think the they are above the rules will set me off every time. Now, go to WP:B and read what it says about;
"communication", "a high standard of cordiality and information", "prompt and civil help", and the "ability to meet any inquiries resulting from the bot's operation cordially, promptly, and appropriately"."
Then go compare to this and this. --Duk 17:32, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An editor just stopped by my talk page to let me know another instance where he's done it, but that they undid his move.

I just have nothing more to say to TimothyBanks, and didn't say anything to him this time.

He really adds nothing to Wikipedia, and only (well, mainly) incorrectly moves articles. All I'll do about him is report him, like I'm doing now; it's all I really can do on this matter. Flyer22 (talk) 18:10, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Link Vandalism[edit]

First of all I want to thank you for cleaning up a few supermodel profiles. I noticed that many relevant links, which are also the source of umteen articles on Wikipedia , have been removed and substituted with Spam-Links by IP-Users . Tho many of these spam-links have been removed, the substituted links have not been restored. I'm mainly talking about links to IMDB for actors and actresses as well as links to FMD for fashion models. Both databases are - as you surely know - the key source for several articles on Wikipedia. Is there any way to make certain links ineditable? I would suggest to do so for the mentioned websites. Also I kindly ask you to add the profile on FMD to Tyra Banks' article, since the article has been locked (and that is good so!). Robomod (talk) 08:05, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I know soaps are much more your area of interest, so I'm going to ask if you could take a look.

I found the use of sources like "Digital Spy" and the like unacceptable, especially when discussing items about which the broadcasters are only too keen themselves to put out fairly detailed official information for the press. I seem to have got into an argument on the grounds that Digital Spy is already used in a lot of soap-related articles. I don't like to get into an argument on a subject I don't edit myself, but I have managed to unearth the official ITV.com press releases ([5] ) from which it should be perfectly possible to write a properly sourced bio for this new Coronation Street character (Ted Paige, who is apparently Gail's long-lost gay dad). --Anticipation of a New Lover's Arrival, The 18:31, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eurovision 81[edit]

Hi there. Re you request as regards the Presenter of Euro 81 - I'm amazed to find that you're from Florida and can only wonder at your interest in the Eurovision (not to mention an Irish radio presenter!). As it happens I released an anniversary souvenir magazine on Eurovision 81 a few years ago, I know a bit about her and can add a bit - but the info I have is mainly related to her appearance in the contest. I'll look it up and see what's worthy of inclusion. I do remember writing in it that she was a presenter of a show called "Women Today" - how on earth do you know this? Interesting! --Tuzapicabit (talk) 08:25, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! Just added some bits to the article Doireann Ni Bhriain. Hope it's ok. Not sure how relevent her dress on the night was - but I suppose that's of interest to some people!

--Tuzapicabit (talk) 22:10, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Put in the reference to where I got the info - obviously I can't get a link for it though. I noticed a couple of things you changed (and which I expected you'd do), but in this case you can't really put her name as 'Ni Bhriain' as in the Irish language, this isn't a surname as such - it means 'maiden name'. Her surname is actually O'Briain (so to put this would cause confusion), the Ni refers to a woman and her father wouldn't have the 'h' in his surname (as I see you changed as well) as this 'h' is added because of its grammatical conjunction with Ni. It's a bit confusing, but Irish people would spot these errors straight away I'm afraid. --Tuzapicabit (talk) 23:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, done that as best I can, but I bet you someone will come along and make the same changes at some point! Funnily enough, doing this page got me into one of the Wiki Eurovision project pages, and am currently working on Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1981.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 23:48, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't know her year of birth unfortunately, but I would say that yes it would be early 1950s.I'm sure someone will find it who knows.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 23:51, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The one that got away![edit]

Sorry Mike, I didn't see your message at all. I do apologise! Why'd you come to me?! :-D There are so many better article writers around other than myself. Sure, I'd be happy to help in any way. What needs doing? ScarianCall me Pat! 21:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Permission[edit]

Hi, Mike Halterman. My name is the King Gemini. I noticed that you uploaded the main title card of Days of Our Lives. Well I created a userbox involving Days of our Lives, and I would like your permission to use the photo for my userbox. The King Gemini (talk) 20:10, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eurovision 86[edit]

Thanks Mike for the message. One of my least favourite years of the contest I have to say. I did however rewrite a page on the Irish entrants, Luv Bug (although I don't particularly rate the song they entered - the fact it came 4th says a lot!). Not a lot else to add, but I might have a go at some of the other years.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 12:54, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doireann Ní Bhriain[edit]

Updated DYK query On 10 June, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Doireann Ní Bhriain, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Hi there. All that info you mention is from the same source - the RTE Guide, which I have down as a reference. Cheers. Just checked out the article - it's looking really good. Where did you find all that stuff? I wish I could find as much for some of my articles! --Tuzapicabit (talk) 23:05, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A Chara, Tá mé sásta tús a chur le leagan Gaeilge den alt seo. I'm happy to start an Irish-language version of this article. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do a full translation but someone else might have the time to expand it. Le meas, Nmacu (talk) 09:12, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't seen the first episode from beginning to end yet as I was out of town. I will try and catch a rerun. :) <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 22:21, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
