A tag has been placed on R.A. Singer and Page, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ignore this. Sorry. BadSprad (talk) 14:31, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I want to be able to edit the photos/content on these pages because I am the author of the RA Singer paper descibing all the new species/revising the genus. Any insight on how I can get permission to add photos?Melanostomias (talk) 14:34, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You will need to be an auto-confirmed user. See WP:UAL for more information about it. You'll need at least 10 edits and an account older than 4 days old. Good luck! BadSprad (talk) 14:41, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Note I've re-nominated the speedy deletion (see below): no matter how much info or photographs you intend to add, it is unlikely that a single study will meet Wikipedia's General notability guidelines. See also What Wikipedia is not. Cheers, --Animalparty-- (talk) 18:09, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sub headings[edit]

Hello
I just saw your article it is wonderful
I just want to share a idea
would it be better if you use word ""Current"" after headings?
instead of Current TCN you may right it TCN (Current)
and PENs (Current)
Best wishes

Great idea! Melanostomias(Talk)

A personal welcome.[edit]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I am certain your expertise and contributions will improve the quality of this free encyclopedia. I just want to make sure you are aware of some key principles right off the bat to avoid some pitfalls that some academics new to Wikipedia sometimes experience (some are already linked in the first message above):

  • No original research - no novel ideas or interpretations can be published on Wikipedia. Take care when using Primary sources.
  • Verifiability. All content must be verfiable, ideally from reliable, secondary sources. Personal knowledge, personal communications with experts, are unverifiable.
  • Neutral point of view- Content must be neutrally written with regards to balance and opinions.
  • Biographies of living people - biographies, and any reference to living persons, must be done carefully to avoid undue promotion or denigration of a person.
  • Notability- Guidelines on what is generally required for a subject to merit an article (note: all species are considered notable, although some species may be merged into a single genus article if there is little text written about each species, or to provide context and comprehensive coverage in a single centralized article).

Since you are a declared staff member of an institution you have written about, please read our guidelines on Conflict of interest carefully. In short, while you are not absolutely prohibited from editing articles on companies or people with which you are closely affiliated, great care must be taken to avoid undue promotion, a non-neutral perspective, or creating an article that doubles as a mere extension of an official webpage. We care more about how a subject is regarded by reliable, third-party sources, than by how a subject views itself. Since you are also a published authority, see also guidelines on Writing about yourself and your work- citing of your own publications is allowed within reason, but only if relevant, is not excessive, and does not place undue emphasis on your work (for example, citing your work in an article for a species you've described is perfectly appropriate, while adding citations and/or photographs to less relevant articles like Fish or Thailand may be seen as undue self-promotion.

Lastly, if you haven't already, please check out WikiProject Fishes, a place for editors to share resources, discuss improvements, and concentrate efforts on bettering the encyclopedia. And again, welcome. Don't hesitate to ask any questions on my talk page. All the best, --Animalparty-- (talk) 17:47, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And another tip, since you are in the field of taxonomy: should you wish to rename an existing species article (e.g. Xoogenus fishicus to Yoogenus fishicus), it is important to not copy and paste an existing species a new article. Rather, perform (or request) a WP:MOVE of the existing article to the new name, to preserve the page's edit and talk page history. Also keep in mind WP:RECENTISM, WP:UNDUE, as well as the caveat with primary sources- if a new name is not widely used in secondary sources, or is controversial, it may be prudent to discuss new changes in taxonomy within an existing article before/instead of moving it: e.g. "Xoogenus fishicus has long been classified in the Xoofishidae, although a 2014 study suggests it actually is a basal member of Yoofishidae." Just as in taxonomy, it is preferable that article names have some stability and be somewhat buffered against back and forth name changes. More info at WP:NCFAUNA. --Animalparty-- (talk) 18:26, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on R.A. Singer and Page requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. --Animalparty-- (talk) 18:06, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
