Comment: 24 Redemption Page Hi, I am new to this and I am sorry if I have put this in the wrong section of your page. I was the person who edited the 24: Redemption page to include "soccer for viewers in the U.S.". I believe you re-edited the page today to remove the new remark. The reason I thought this should be included on the page is that the show is an American T.V. program and a description of the T.V. show would use vernacular American English when describing the scene. To clarify between American Football and Association football, I thought the extra few words were needed. The page does contain the 'Association football' link when it mentions football in the sentence I edited. However, in my career and opinion, clarity of an item discussed should be included in the text that was written and should not require extra links or further research. I am sorry that I do not have a Wiki page for you to comment to, but I will monitor this page if you have another comment. Spooks episode titles[edit]

Hi. Could you please source where you have got the Spooks episode titles from? The titles are never publicly shown on the episodes, and I don't even think the official website has them. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Bantos fighting[edit]

  1. I had planned on creating a page (or pages) under the topic of "Bantos Fighting" but it's over my head. I figured because you're such a fan of Atlantis, and you have a lot of experience, you'd like to do it. Basically, it's Teyla's fighting style seen in tons of Atlantis episodes, and a lot of character building happens during those sparring scenes. Yes, I know what bantos fighting is. There is also "Sparring" as well. I do have a question though, are you User:Ka'lel from Stargate Wiki? If so, you should really leave me a message on my SG wiki talk page, since you'd have better luck at an answer from me there concerning Stargate. I'm sure I could create a page on bantos fighting and sparring, but I'm sure you can do it yourself, as I'm a little busy with expanding plots for season four episodes there at the moment. Prison Break characters[edit]

I'm not hoping to keep every image, just to keep the odd one there. I've been thinking, and since much of the character images are put into the actor articles which don't have their own images, I could just place them there (putting Frank Tancredi image to the John Heard article). Fair use images for performers[edit]

So you're aware, fair use (non-free) images are considered replaceable for identifying living people, per Wikipedia:Non-free content#Unacceptable use, Images - Item 12. This means you can use an image captured from a film/TV series to illustrate the character in the character's article, but not the performer in their article. Enemy at the Gate[edit]

Hi. I see you have "Enemy at the Gate" in your sandbox. Do you intend to work on it and create an article soon, or is it more more of a workpit on indefinite hold (I got a couple of such half-alive-half-dead projects lying around in my userspace as well)? Yes, I do plan to expand on it and create an article if I wasn't caught up on other things, both wiki and real-life related. I don't want to hurry you in any way; I am busy with various things too. Since you seem to have an in-depth knowledge about and interest in Atlantis, can you add two or three sentences of plot summary to the article Teal'c about what the character did in the two SGA eps? Actually, it looks worthy enough to be a B class, since season articles don't have that much (see Lost (season 1), or The Simpsons (season 9), which are featured list articles). There's a website called Broadcasters Audience Research Board, so sure, I'll help, though there is one hick-up, I don't know when the first two parts aired, and there is no guarantee that Atlantis will show up, since it doesn't show up in the top ten ratings for Sky One 100% of the time. Nearly every episode on the Atlantis DVDs have commentaries, and I have all Atlantis DVDs that are currently available, so there's bound to be some info behind Lorne. I'll do what I can, but I'm currently quite busy with real life and other wiki-related projects. Don't get this wrong, I'd love to help anybody who'll need it, but listening to commentaries isn't the best use of my time currently. I will get round to them, slowly. Michael Scofield[edit]

I think you misunderstood the point of my edits - I've made them quite plain in the talk page of the article. Michaels death is (currently) fact and can be cited using interviews with the writer Olmstead and I did so in the talk page. What aren't facts are whether he died from the Electricity or from the Guards entering (and presumably shooting him) - as a trained electrician I find it highly unlikely that he would have been electrocuted putting the wires together (as opposed to ripping them out) yes suspend disbelief as it's fiction but it's not explicitly stated either way - the guards were bursting through the door at the same time as he put the wires together. Implying it was caused specifically one way or another without an answer from the writer constitutes original research. Secondly it's not explained or made clear whether his body followed Linc and Sara down to South America - So calling it a "grave" or "Tombstone" - again without reference proving it is where Michaels body resides is again Original research - Marking it as a "memorial" could be seen to represent either a grave or a marker in lieu of a body. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.254.217.56 (talk) 20:06, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Refimprove tag[edit]

The refimprove tag is needed in the Stargate SG-1 article as about 5% of that article is unsourced and in the Stargate Atlantis article as about 15% of that article is unsourced per WP:Verifiability and WP:No original research, as WP:Verifiability says "Any material lacking a reliable source may be removed, but editors might object if you remove material without giving them sufficient time to provide references, and it has always been good practice, and expected behavior of Wikipedia editors (in line with our editing policy), to make reasonable efforts to find sources oneself that support such material, and cite them. If you want to request a source for an unsourced statement, consider tagging a sentence by adding the {{fact}} template, a section with {{unreferencedsection}}, or the article with {{refimprove}} or {{unreferenced}}" and WP:No original research says "Material for which no reliable source can be found is considered original research". Arcs[edit]

I've tried to make arcs for the Stargate Atlantis article, are these one missing anything? (below)

Wraith arc[edit]

Main article: Wraith (Stargate)

The pilot episode, set in 2004 after the events of Stargate SG-1 season seven episode, "Lost City". The pilot introduces the Wraith, a terrible foe that defeated the Ancients thousand of years ago. With not enough power to redial Earth, the Atlantis expedition is forced to search the Pegasus Galaxy for a power sources and new allies against the Wraith. In one of their first missions, they make another enemy in the Genii, a human militaristic civilization with a 1950s level of technology. Meanwhile, in season two First Lieutenant Aiden Ford escapes Atlantis after being injected by the Wraith enzyme. After a Wraith civil war lasting through late season 3 and season 4, the Wraith remains the major for in Stargate Atlantis throughout the shows run, topping in the final when they attack Earth.

Michael arc[edit]

Main article: Michael Kenmore

The central plot of the second season is the development of Dr. Carson Beckett's retrovirus, which can, theoretically, turn a Wraith into a human, after a failed attempted on a Wraith known throughout the series as "Michael Kenmore". The experiment met with mixed results. Michael's wraith faction proposes an alliance with Atlantis, but they betray the team. After the defeat of the Asurans, the main antagonist of the series becomes Michael because of his efforts against both humans and the other Wraith. In the beginning of season five, Michael and his forces are seemingly crippled by an attack. Michael eventually tries to invad Atlantis with a commandeered Puddle Jumper to take Torren and to destroy the city, but the attacks fails and Kenmore is killed by John Sheppard.

Asuran arc[edit]

Main article: Asuran (Stargate)

The first sign of another advances lifeforms other than the Wraith in the Pegasus Galaxy is first revealed in season one episode, "Hot Zone". In season three episode, "Progeny" the Atlantis expedition makes first contact with the Asurans. When the Asurans learned that the humans of Earth are their favoured "second evolution", they bulster the forces for an attack on Atlantis in "The Return" were they kill all remaining Ancients living in Atlantis. The third season finale starts off with Earth launching a first strike against the Asurans who are building an armada to attack Earth. The Asurans counterattack by attacking Atlantis by means of a powerful beam weapon fired through a satellite housing a Stargate. As the last resort, the Atlantis team fires up the city's stardrive and escapes into space. The finale ends when the hyperdrive malfunctions, leaving the city flying through uncharted space with a day's worth of energy left in their sole ZPM and Elizabeth Weir being critically injured. With the city damaged and running out of power the Atlantis expedition raids Asuras to obtain a ZPM and is able to travel to a nearby planet. Weir is captured by the Asurans and Samantha Carter becomes the new leader of the Atlantis expedition. Season four focus on the Atlantis expedition's ongoing war with the Asurans. Midway through the season, they are seemingly killed off.

UK viewership numbers[edit]

If you know which channel and date an episode aired in the UK, it should be quite simple. I'll put up steps in bullet points to be a bit more understandable;
  • There are two parts; the link you gave shows the top ten of every channel in the UK, while http://www.barb.co.uk/report/weeklyTopProgrammesOverview?_s=4 shows the top 30 for terrestrial channels (BBC 1 and 2, ITV1, Channel 4 and FIVE).
  • There is a panel on the left of the page, showing the weeks and channels, where you should be able to scroll down to find the correct channel, or find out the date in which it aired, which are usually recorded weekly. If you highlight a certain week and channel, then press "view figures" it will only show the top 10 of this channel.
  • The most upgraded version seems to always be ratings from two to three weeks ago.
  • If you got the dates and channels right, and yet the episode you are looking for are is not there, then this usually means it wasn't viewed enough to be in the top 10, I also know certain times, there is no data.
  • I happen to know where to look because I happen to be from the UK, so I should know where and when to look.

"Sleepers" in Sanctuary[edit]

Hello,

Actually, my source for the title "Sleepers" in the list of Sanctuary episodes was Syfy schedule. I just did not see I had to add a source for the title of an episode. I tell you that because I think Syfy website is a more reliable source for Sanctuary than MSN, and also because you seem to be used to editing the list of Sanctuary episodes. What do you think?

Actually, there's no better source more reliable than its home network. Although, I'm pretty sure MSN is also reliable, but I'm no source expert (I just generally go with ones that aren't blogs or forums). I have no issue on which source to use. You could change it if you'd like. Since the source is already used on the airdates section for upcoming episodes, type <ref name=season2airdates/>. I changed the reference. But I think it is not really important, since the reference will not be needed as soon as the episode airs. By the way, thanks for the fix for the bug with the reference. I was trying to replace "=" in the URL with "&#61;", but then I found out you already had submitted your fix.

Again, amazing work with that list (and the new pages!). I'll be working to expand some of the episode summaries, as they're far too brief or (in some cases) even a bit wrong. There's an IP (I'm sure you've noticed) that is reverting the changes you've made. I put something up on the List of Criminal Minds episodes talk page about the reformat. Please chime in there if you feel necessary, but I think I've made a pretty decent case for the new format (which follows shows such as 24, Law &Order: SVU, Lost etc etc). Hi. I don't know why the IP user came to you to ask you to do this. Obviously he does know something about it, and so do you, but perhaps you were not aware of the negative aspects of transcluding.
I ask that you please do not transclude them. I am allowing the page to become stable before I renominate it at WP:FLC, and transclusion is generally not permitted for Featured lists for a variety of reasons:
  1. Reviewers are not actually reviewing the nominated page, but many other pages that are not nominated but are being transcluded into the nominated page. Of all the FLs that do transclude, they only do that because the originals are also Featured lists or articles, and even this is being phased out.
  2. Having an overall list of episodes and nine season episodes lists that show the exact same information because of transclusion does not make sense -- it is just pure redundancy.
  3. It is a backdoor way of merging the seasons back into a single list and it turns the season lists into maintenance articles.
  4. Information should not be repeated on two pages. A LoE for series with season pages does not need the same information because the LoE is summarising the information found in the season pages.
  5. If errors are present in the season articles, they are transcluded onto a second page, which means that two pages are now incorrect
  6. IP editors, who make up the majority of Wikipedia's readers, often do not know how to edit transcluded pages if they see an error. Transclusion favours seasoned editors, not readers. An unregistered, new-to-the-site editor will almost definitely have a better understanding of editing something like

than if he came across {{:Law & Order: Criminal Intent (season 1)}}. It is likely that they would not understand that "Law & Order: Criminal Intent (season 1)" refers to Law & Order: Criminal Intent (season 1), they almost certainly won't be aware of transcluding, and it may turn them away from not only editing this page, but any of our pages.
7. If a vandal removes or adds just a single character to the transclusion code, it messes up an entire table on both pages
8. If people are watchlisting the main LoE page, and not the season pages, they do not notice when an error or vandalism has been introduced
9. Wikipedia:WikiProject Television and MOS:TV are attempting to do away with transcluding lists and last time I checked their pages, strongly suggested avoiding it.
I worked on Law & Order: Criminal Intent (season 1) and got it listed at WP:GA with no help from any other editor. I standardized List of Law & Order: Criminal Intent episodes by using {{episode list}} to WP:TV's guidelines, with no help from any other editor (which was completely hacked away at earlier this year and has only just be restored, again, with no other assistance). Stargate Atlantis[edit]

Dude, you removed the airdates from the Stargate Atlantis episode page. I get it, Canada had them first, not trying to start a who is better flame war or anything, but seriously, some of us like to watch the episodes as they were aired, paired with SG-1, and I come to wikipedia all the time to get my airdates because it is the easiest way to quickly find out which episode aired on what days. Being from the USA, I want to watch the episode that aired the same day as SG-1 aired in seasons 8, 9, and 10 of SG-1. I "get it" that you are trying to say they can only have one official airdate, but thats not true exactly, and you have to be open to the possibility that the air date in the USA is the first time that these things were aired for any of us over here. Syfy paired them together for a reason for viewing purposes, and just because Canada and the UK got them before the USA doesn't make their airdates not valid. 173.26.134.93 (talk) 20:54, 9 August 2010 (UTC)--63.230.156.175[reply]

Original means first, even if a US TV episode airs in Canada, or the UK, Germany etc. What you just said defeats the purpose of "Original Airdate". Also, in regard to a comment you made in one of your edits, Wikipedia is not a dictatorship, and I am not treating it as such. Wikipedia is governed by rules that I am following.
